WeightsWatcher gives you an easy to use way to compare gear based on the actual stats, not just the item level.
Currently, all base stats, gems in non-crafted sockets, and enchants should be handled properly. Also, gems are suggested based on the weights you have enabled. Note that crafted sockets and other "stacking" enchants are not currently handled, because they are not detectable through the WoW API.
All weights can be changed as you see fit, and you can create and enable as many or as few as you would like.
The default stat weights are provided by AskMrRobot.com, with their consent. Everything else the mod does is of our own creation, and does not use the AskMrRobot.com optimization formulas.
Endgame players will probably want to create hit- and/or expertise- capped weights, which is easily done by copying an existing weight and setting the appropriate values to 0.

We currently handle the hit cap for our own characters by copying the normal weights and adjusting hit values to 0 (or simply a lower number for dual-wielding classes like rogues). Of course, once we figure out how best to handle the caps, we will put our solution in the addon itself. The Wowhead weights we provide as defaults assume that your are neither hit nor expertise capped, but that you are defense capped if you are a tank. |

Miscellaneous updates
I have started working on the colorization feature, but have hit a bit of a snag with the way caching works currently. I could make it "work" pretty easily, but there would be a nil error almost every first time you looked at an item. Instead I'm reworking the caching (and teaching myself metatables in the process ). Once the cache is redone, the rest should happen pretty quickly.
Localization has been passed on to dpsthree for now. I'll try to keep posting progress on both fronts as I make/find out about it. Finally, both dpsthree and myself will be out of town for 5-6 days on either side of Christmas, so addon work may be slow to nonexistent. |

Re: Miscellaneous updates
The colorization feature is done and has been uploaded as 1.1b1 (with a few other minor changes). However, dpsthree has since pointed out to me that it is somewhat broken with regard to weapons. I'm working on a fix now.
EDIT: the fix has been written, tested and approved by dpsthree, and uploaded as version 1.1b2. Please let me know if you have any complaints about the way items are compared now.

dunno if you know about this, but if used with a localized client (deDE in this case) all weights are displaying as 0.00

Depending on how much the various languages change grammar and word order, it may be possible that the code itself can be left as-is, but we would still need help translating/adding/removing patterns for each language. If you are interested in helping with this and either know lua patterns/regular expressions or are willing to learn (they're not too complicated but it is kind of its own sublanguage), let me know and I'll be sure dpsthree gets ahold of you when we're ready. |

That's a not-very-often-used codepath, and I missed testing it. I've posted a new version with the typo fixed. |

1.1b4
I've posted 1.1b4 with some more fixes, and better handling of ideal gems. You should take a look at the new gem options, as the conversion isn't (and can't be) perfect. Use /ww config, and you'll be looking at the left panel.
There's a full list of changes in the changelog. |

For outfit creation, might want to take a look at Gearwizard (no option to force the weapon choice, then choose gear) and DresstoKill (no way to implement a "cap" on a stat).
If you can incorporate outfit creations feature into this addon minus some of the issues with the other before mentions addons, you will have a real winner. |

I think we'd rather either figure out a way to make MH/OH weights different or maybe just allow you to lock any given slot(s) for outfit creation. |

For outfit creation maybe Outfitter could be used , it already has support for making outfits based on Tankpoints , probably not a biggie to implement WW's weights into that.
Now i'll admit the tankpoints calculation sometimes get tooo darn many outfits to select from , on my druid it has some 22600450 or something outfits to choose from , and the calculation would probably take a day even on the fast setting. Thats probably a bug or something in Outfitter though , and might even be fixed , been a while since i looked at it. point is , you dont have to write your own outfit creation , just work with one of the existing ones. |

EDIT: Looking at the code, it doesn't seem to handle hit/expertise caps either, which we'd like to do. If I'm wrong about that, please let me know, and I'll bump Outfitter support up in priority.

Nice to see that you are considering it. Since outfitter probably does a lot of the hard work to ease your pain.
Now that i am thinking about it , i start to see a mindboggling bunch of problems in making either addon smart enough to make sure you reach hitcap for instance but not overshoot it too much. Or even reaching hitcap and then focusing on expertise or whatever. I read somewhere that once a druid tank has over 50% dodge it becomes more viable to start stacking defensegear if possible for instance. I think i understand why outfitter tries to calculate 22million possibilities... its probably using all the gear and all the stat combinations of all of them to reach a conclusion... since tankpoints are so complex in itself its too much. |
