lolThreat  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.1.4b
by: Lolzen [More]

Overview
This Addon puts a Simple text on your screen, giving information about your current threat, of your target.

What does it show me?
At first the threat you have on your target. In percent.
There will be additional information shown next to your threat. It can be following:

notable Changes
As my code changed a bit, the value in tank mode can go up 100% too
Healer Mode is automically activated, when targeting a friendly player fighting a mob

[Tank Mode]
11% Get Aggro! >> Very low on Threat, mob Attacking another player
78% Get Aggro! >> High threat, but still not as high as the mob's target
85% Low on Threat! >> You should get your Aggro Back!
100% Safe Tanking >> You're tanking safe.

[Damage Mode]
21% Safe Damage >> Your threat is on a good level, proceed doing Damage.
76% High Threat! >> Be careful.
89% DAMAGE STOP >> Stop your Damage.
94% DAMAGE STOP >> Stop your Damage.

[Heal Mode]
21% Safe Threat >> No harm.
76% High Threat! >> Be careful.
80% You have AGGRO >> You have Aggro.
99% You have AGGRO >> You have Aggro.

Remind, that this Addon is very simpleminded and does not give any other information than mentioned above.

Tank Mode
Q:What is this, how do i activate?
A:lolThreat checks for a Stance or a Buff related to Tanking (Bearform, Righteous Fury...) and automatically switches to Tanking mode until the Buff is expired, cancelled or the Stance is switched.

I adore this addon. I'm a mage who hasn't really started raiding yet and I really have no use for a mod like omen, I most likely won't when I start raiding either. This is ideal for me while being simple. Appreciated.

Great Addon!!!

I'm all about light and simple... this is a great idea and I will be using it over the other threat meters.

Your lolTip is great too.

You should do a DPS mod... one that just shows your (and your pets) dps.

Thanks for sharing your work.

Edit: For those interested... I just tested it against sThreatMeter and it was spot on; shows identical threat values.

Looks like an attractive alternative to MyThreat. Except for one thing. Only being able to move the frame/text via LUA changes. There is lightweight and then there is...too lightweight .

If you could change LUA code and then have those changes take effect without having to exit WoW & come back, there would be no problem. But as it is, it a major hassle if you want to move the lolThreat frame/text. Such times might include when changing from a raid frame setup to a solo or party setup (where you may need to reposition things on your screen) and so on.

So WTB a way to lock/unlock & move the text without having to change the LUA, exit and come back.

Which shouldn't be surprising. All "threat" type mods have utilized the built-in Blizzard threat API since it was added to WoW when the Lich King expansion (WoW 3.0) was released.

This one is tricky to move/relocate... not because you have to edit the Lua file, but because you have to have someone else (or a pet) doing dmg to your target for the threat meter to show up.

As far as logging out and back in... you don't need to. Just type:

/console reloadui

And the updated Lua file will take affect.

Well, i didn#t think about positioning in the first place, rather showing up not in a Group would be silly.
Anyways, i added a "Testmode" (activate in the config section, in the lua file) where you can, if activated, drag the frame around with alt + click.

Just don't forget to disable testmode when finished positioning.

Positioning hack...

Just a quick hack I made to the lua to make repositioning a bit easier...
set

Code:
testmode = 1
and at the very end of the script changed the move text (so I didn't have to see it constantly too) ...

@ line 145
Code:
	elseif testmode == 1 then
		TFont:SetText(" ")
	else
		TFont:SetText(" ")
	end
end)
this gave me an opaque yet visible frame that I could then move w/ alt-click anywhere on the screen. The level of opacity is not obtrusive to the overall look of my screen, so I figured I'd leave it as is. This might be a good default setting with a hover over tool tip that says how to move the frame.

Just an idea...I know it will change upon update

Oh, and thanks...works great! (especially for hunters soloing and not wanting to pull aggro off their pets)

Code:
"|cffff0000DAMAGE DTOP|r")
I imagine it should be "STOP" not "DTOP"

Thanks for the hint =)

Sorry to say, but i like it how it is now :P I for myself didn't needed the Frame to be Dragable, but well^^ Tried to be a bit more Userfriendly.

But you are free to modify this mod in any ways you want

/Edit: horrible english ~.~

Heh. Both using /console reloadui or logging out to the character screen and coming back have the identical effect. But the majority of addons I've tested won't properly register updates done to LUA code while logged into WoW without completely exiting WoW and coming back. If this one does by just relogging, though, fine.

It still does not eliminate the issue of losing collected raid data from a few mods like InstanceTime, StatBlock RaidDPS and so on when being forced to relog, which is unacceptable.

Why is it necessary to disable "Testmode" in the lua file after finishing positioning? Doesn't that defeat the purpose of what people are asking for? You still have to relog/exit for the disabling of "Testmode" to take effect .

How am i supposed to move the frame when it's clickthrough? :/ Lets say i'm raiding and want to move it to another spot, i need to exit the game, make Lua changes, log in, move it, log out again and re-do the lua changes. But too much i think.

Also, i doubt anyone would accidentaly move it as you need to hold alt to move it anyway. I don't see the purpose of making it clickthrough. Thanks for the mod anyway though, i can stick with an older version for now.

Edit: Please upload version 1.1 to the archive, currently there's only version 1.1.1 there.

If it is unacceptable for you, you might considering solving that problem, so it doesn't bother you anymore?

Well. The thing is that: Instead of editing the numbers, save the lua-file, and you have to type /console reloadui every time, you just need to edit the lua 2 Times with just changing a number from 0-1 or 1-0. Then you know the exact position you threw it, instead of guessing. Thats the purpose.
But if it's too messy for you, you might add slash commands to your threat.lua

I, for myself can live with the default position and didn't need testmode either.

I really don't see a point in changing the position everytime. Search a fix position where no other mod overlaps the text and problem solved. imo.

It is clickthrough, because if you don't see it (OOC), and want to move your camera, accidentily click on the button, it's nerving.

the solution is deleting
Code:
TButton:EnableMouse(testmode == 1)
at line 61. No need to reup.

---------
If it is bothering enouh people i can make this an option? Also it when seems silly to me oO
