Inquest  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.03
by: arnath_vp [More]

NOTE: Inquest WILL be updated for 3.3. It's just going to take me a few days because Blizz neutered the tracker frame in this patch.

Inquest is a quest log and tracker mod.

Please post bug reports and feature requests in my author portal. The links can be found under the Download button in the box on the right hand side.

General features:

  • Show quest levels in quest log and tracker
  • Show quest tags (e.g., G for group, D for dungeon, etc) in quest log and tracker
  • Auto quest completion for quests without reward choices

Quest log features:
  • Move the quest log anywhere on screen
  • Show a message on quest completion
  • Echo quest progress to party chat
  • Play a sound on quest completion, objective completion, or objective progress (supports some standard sounds like "Work Complete!" as well as SharedMedia)

  • Change tracker line spacing
  • Auto-hide the tracker in various situations (always, when empty, in a 5-man instance, in a raid instance, in PvP)
  • Click bindings to open the quest log/achievement window, stop tracking, share quest, abandon quest, insert chat link, or show the new Blizzard dropdown menu

Tooltip features:
  • Show quest information on item tooltips
  • Show quest and achievement tooltips on the tracker

2.03
  • Added an option to left align item buttons in the tracker
  • Restored pre-3.2 "Open quest log" functionality (let me know if you don't like this, I may add an option to toggle it)

  • Slightly changed quest watch storage format to be more efficient
  • Various bug fixes (collapsed tracker on load, minimize button clickable when backdrop hidden, some stuff with timed quest watches)

Any chance of integrating something like a double window feature? Something like "Doublewide" provides? That's the major reason I've used quest mods like Bayi's Extended, etc. in the past. Anyway, just a suggestion. I'll continue using Doublewide with yours, I was just hoping to find something still current that provides the 2 window display and thought I'd suggest it since it seems to fit in with your mod's function/purpose pretty well.

Great work, thanks so much!

I have mine set to grow upwards and right. And minimize to bottom left. Works great.

However if I log out with it minimized, when I log back in the title bar is where it would be when visible, and I have to minimize/restore 2 times to get it back to where it should be.

I know your goal was to have an addon that replace "Bayi's Extended Questlog".

Now that you have accomplished that goal and beyond it, I wonder if you can put some new goal :-)

If you remember, "Bayi's Extended Questlog" itself was a takeover from another addon called "Extended Questlog".
But that addon had some functions that BEQL never implemented.

One of the function I think its usefull to have again is this :

You know how each quest goes to different grouping defined by blizzard, how if in your addon, you can define your own group and move
the quests freely to different group or the one you created yourself.

"Extended Questlog" had that function but BEQL never could reproduce that function.

Actually I can't seem to duplicate the item button thing. Let me know if it still happens in 1.23.

Edit: I also was unable to get quest details by mousing over the quest title in the tracker. I've reverted back to v1.21 and everything is working as it should.
I fixed the thing with quest tooltips in 1.23. I'll look into the issue with the item buttons.

Is there any chance you could split the "Hide the Tracker When...You are in a battleground or arena." option into separate choices for battlegrounds and arenas. I'd like to be able to see my BG achievement trackers when I am grinding them, but I don't want to see trackers while I am doing arenas.

Indeed. I had to hard reset WatchFrame to have both working.

I've encountered several bugs lately with InQuest.

First of all, whatever option I choose, the tracker keeps reseting its position to the bottom right. As said, I tried several things but none worked. It resets sometimes randomly, most of the time when logout/login.

The second bug I've encountered, twice as much annoying, when I'm questing the tracker won't accept any new quest to track because WoW says it lacks place in the tracker (don't know the exact EN translation, sorry about that).

I realize it could be something wrong on my side since no one ever reported such bugs… But the only other addon I have that messes with the questlog is Double Wide, which you recommend anyway…

BugSack reports me no error, so I can't give you one here :/ Hope you'll see what the problems are.
