Honestly it wouldn't hurt to at least sign up before the 26th (assumed date of pet give away) and see what happens.

Unfortunately any real info about this item is VERY vague to say the least. But chances are they will email people codes to be used in game, much like the way the trading card game works.

I tried to sign up, it told me I can't because I'm not a resident of the USA.

Ahh .. that stinks ..

Well I have a few accounts on the Dew site .. if I get multiple codes I will be the first to send you one to try out ... maybe playing on US servers will allow the code to work.

If I don't put address info, it says I'm not eligible "to participate in any online Mountain Dew sweepstakes or contests." Does that include getting the pet? Or is the pet an actual prize from the contest, not just a freebie?

The pet is a "prize" from the contest.

In order to get the pet you need to complete a full registration. That includes you address and such. As far as I know all registered customers will get the pet if they have a valid WoW account. Not to sure really how the actual pet give away will actually work. There is NO info on this part of the contest other than you get a pet.

No. The contests usually never include Canada. From what I have read in the past, it is due to Canadian (and European) laws regarding contests and lotteries being more strict and therefore it is often more hassle for an American company to hold a contest open to outside residents. Sucks, but thems the breaks.
