Audio Ding for Ore & Herbs?

Now that I'm flying a swift mount, I find I wish I could just watch the landscape and have a small *ding* go off any time a yellow dot would appear on the minimap for something I'm tracking.

Is this even possible with an addon? If so, has it been done?

I would love a mod that does this, but it is currently impossible. The yellow dots are rendered on the minimap texture before it is made available to UI mods.

Thanks, this is exactly the confirmation I was looking for too. Looking through the code, it seemed that this information was all "hidden" in a texture, but I wasn't sure. My guild master is certain that he'd seen someone with such a mod in the past, but I was skeptical after reviewing the UI code. I'm glad someone agrees.

I remember seeing an external program that would take shots of your chat windows, read the text and then display it on a web page or wherever.

So I'd imagine it'd be possible to have a program to monitor your minimap and make a noise whenever it detected the yellow of a herb or mineral node.

As far as addons are concerned though, as has been said, it can't be done.

External programs are considered to violate the user agreement and thus subject to account banning. Not sure that's worth it
