Damn...I just checked the diff again. I overlooked one single CVar that was added.

+nameplateShowFriendlyNPCs;0;

And of COURSE that was the issue.

As soon as I ran "/run SetCVar("nameplateShowFriendlyNPCs",1)" all friendly npc nameplates popped up.
