This might have been brought up once before, but to continue the discussion (see
here), I have posted this in the Chit-Chat category.
EmotiConverter is the answer to all of the missing "Smilies" or "Emoticons" you wish you had. This Firefox Add-On will allow you to take image URLs of emoticons you find and attach a text-based trigger to them. When you type these triggers, using the combination Ctrl-Shift+F will automagically change them to your images.
The process will originally take a while. I recommend that you use some online album storage website. Sites such as Photobucket are good ones to use. If you find a cool smiley, plop it into your album and then add it to EmotiConverter.
For triggers, I think the easiest way is to use something like ":funny:". Put colons before and after your trigger word.
