What is the Oldest Piece of Blizzard Interface Code?

Its amazing that this game has been around 15 years. Poking around "Blizzard Interface Code" you can discover various Blizz utilities for math, graphics, OOP, and some guy Dan who doesn't like people changing his code. It is interesting to imagine how the code-base may have evolved as this game has grown.

Curious if any addon veterans out there have interesting thoughts/insight about how the code has evolved since vanilla. If that's too general, what is the oldest piece of code you are aware of? Has anything from vanilla survived the past 15 years? Most importantly, WHO IS DAN!?

Most of the secure code has remained mostly untouched since introduced in the later stages of vanilla, although there are no files completely unchanged since then (the oldest file(s) completely untouched are from WoD). Fun fact, the secure system was developed either in conjunction with, or entirely by addon developers, the credit for their work still remains as comments in those files.

Dan was one of the programmers working on the user interface for WoW, being one of the few resources addon developers had to influence the default UI and its capabilties for addons. Afaik he moved on to a different project.

As far as whole files are concerned, p3lim is correct. However, if you meant snippets of code within files, you're welcome to browse this archive. Here's the very first archived UI export, PTR build 4115 of patch 1.1.2 (4125).

 That's awesome, and exactly what I was looking for. How is that a thing? Looks like someones personal site? I wonder how similar that will be to the code in "Classic"

But if Dan is gone, how are they ever gonna talk to him!? Very cool that addon devs have contributed to the actual code

Dan is Dan Wellman. He was on the WoW UI team from Warlords to BFA. He's on an unannounced project now, but still hangs out on IRC and answers some questions there. The comments used to say Jacob, as he was one of the original authors of some of the secure capsule code. Jacob used to hang out on IRC, but I think he stopped. Jacob left the team around Warlords and is working on an unknown project, though apparently not the same one as Dan.
