April Fools! Yes, this was our April Fools joke for 2011. A number of you saw right through it really quick, thanks for understanding why we deleted your posts so that it wouldn't give away the joke. For the rest, gotcha!

In all seriousness, though, please don't take our joke as mocking the security concerns these days. Unfortunately a lot of what I posted about malicious programmers etc. is, in fact, a problem. Also, your safety using, and enjoyment of, our site really is our first concern. That said, we aren't adding an authenticator to the site at this time.

(For anyone that actually saw my joke post ragging Voodoodad out (before I deleted it) - there's no way I'd ever treat my volunteers like that. VDD and I had worked it out before hand, it was part of the joke. Even as a joke, though, I just couldn't leave it there, it went too far for my own taste.)

By far, the best April Fools joke I've seen is when Blizzard announced releasing a Bard class that had an interface similar to Guitar Hero. I knew it was a joke right away, but it was hilarious watching the official forums. People were flooding them, praising them about the new game mechanic. After it was revealed as a joke, the same people were then threatening to ragequit over it.

Now that this is over, it makes me wonder why I need the authenticator to post to the battle.net forums when logins from that are not inherited to the administration pages.

It kinda makes me worry that they're trying to make it less likely that people use the authenticators...

imho the best April Fools joke was when Pazza made it so that WIM had a Jedi theme and when you logged in a old school dial up tone played ALOT of people QQed about that.

Hate fills me entirely. I will have revenge /girl cliche cry to my room;

If I had to own a physical authenticator I'd probably roll with wowi's version.
