Carbonite dropping fps while in cata dungeons
For some reasen when i have carbonite enabled inside an instance my fps drops to 15 or less, but a weird thing is when i open a right click menu the fps drop dissapears.
I havent had the chance yet to run an instance with lua errors on so will edit when i get more info edit: here is the culprit: http://screenshot.xfire.com/s/107807751-4.jpg |
i am also having the same problem any help???
|
Same here. Carbonite produces up to 500 errors in cata dungeons.
|
push, the errors suck... Carbonite spam these errors in a neverending loop:
Code:
1x Carbonite-4.031\Carbonite.lua:5539: attempt to index field '?' (a nil value) |
Yeah, mine is so bad that WoW actually asks to disable it when I enter a dungeon because it's making so many errors
|
Try the beta version here, which fixes map errors in 2 instances:
http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/s...ad.php?t=37462 It is the same error repeating, which will happen when code fails that is called on a timer or frame update. WoW will ask to disable an addon in that case, since rapidly repeating errors will lower FPS. |
Still getting frame drops, different error this time
http://screenshot.xfire.com/s/107920980-4.jpg The frame drops stop completely when i turn my camera with my right mouse button but start again if i happen to hover over my map |

I found the problem. It was a typo in a file. I will have a new beta out today with the fix.

|
By the looks of things the problems have been fixed. i am running stonecore ( the place i had the most issues with ) now with carbonite on and there are no frame drops
|
little update: this same problem now happens in raid instances

screen freezes
I have noticed very short (1/2 second) screen freezes or severe reductions in fps whenever spells proc or I loot or accept quests. During these moments, the screen will seem as if it is stuck for a 1/2 second or so. I tried all types of video and audio adjustments (I thought maybe it was an audio issue since there were always event sounds that play during these things as well). Nothing worked. That is, until I started disabling addons one by one, only to find that the problem was completely resolved by disabling Carbonite alone. All of these issues only seem to occur while I am in areas that are part of the new Cata content. I am sure that Carbonite is the culprit. I hope this can be fixed because I don't know how I can play WoW without it!

And did you try with Carbonite as the only enabled addon?
|
After installing any version of Carbonite, you should check the version number in the addon list to ensure the files were copied successfully to the correct location.
Press ESC, click Interface, click Help and make sure "Display LUA errors" is checked, then log out and back in. Report any errors that appear. Please state the version of Carbonite you are using in the bug report. You can leave this on permanently. It will not effect game play and alert you to addon problems. |

Isn't it much more simple to just delete all the carbonite folders from your addon folder.
And after that install the folders from the latest version of Carbonite. Then you don't need to search for a typo in a file :) |

My FPS drops to ~10 with Carbonite. |
I've not run BD yet.
If you're getting a ton of LUA errors, the best way to help would probably be to report the error that you're getting. Copy/Paste it in to this thread so that they have some clue to work from. |

Just for fun, get in a raid and step in BD, I'm pretty sure if your lua errors are set to be shown you will get thousands of them stacking and your frame rate will drop, if you aren't set to see lua errors then you will just notice the dramatic drop in your frame rate. (You can turn on lua errors in the interface options someplace.) |
The reason I mentioned it was because the error posted on the first page was marked as fixed, followed by some people reporting that it was working for them.
That leads me to think that there may be a similar issue on a different line of code causing a similar issue in different areas than the one that was fixed. Mostly, I just wanted to make sure that the error was the exact same error and it's not reporting a different line number now. If it is the exact same error that you're getting, then I guess there's still something else broken. |

issue has not been solved in latest update

I have given up on looking for any type of solution to this, even though there was just an update, this problem has remained untouched or looked at (I'm making that assumption based on the lack of replies from moderators on any of these fps topics). The most frustrating part of all this was that it got fixed for stonecore, but BWD has been overlooked, and it was due to a simple typo. Even requests to get that typo so we could fix it on our own has been ignored.
I donated to this project way back and I even donated $5 to the author again to try and get into the "member forum" and my application to get into those forums has yet to be replied to, I guess $5 wasn't enough to get into that area (that was around two weeks ago). In the meantime I'm slowly replacing everything carbonite does with other addons. It was a good run while it lasted. I have donated to addons before with remarkable outcomes, authors were supportive and appreciative. This donation has gone unnoticed and unappreciated, and will be the last. |
This topic is to request a fix for a bug, not to whine about it not getting fixed.
so please dont. |
Is this problem only happening in Blackwing Descent?

Endless loop.
I had/have this problem in all raid instances. Not just in Cata. If I log in with Carbonite, join to raid group, enter instance, its fine. The errorspam coming when I have to reload ui or re-login into raid instance with Carbonite on. Re-login/reload ui I have to for various reasons (addon switch, disconnect, flush cache, screen freeze, crash, etc.).
In wotlk, there was chance for endless loop of errors, but in cataclysm, its almost guaranteed after first reload. Since I usually don't plan the reload (when crashing/disconnecting/freezing in middle of fight), I can't really have time to copy error. I just disable carbonite (with addon control panel), and reload manually, which I have to anyway, because of my healing addon frames (if you log into combat, your frame is visible only, but after /reloadui, others will be visible again. its not addon dependent and very frustrating for all healers.) On next raid, I'll try to proc the error by manually reloading on trash or before boss fights. I'll post message and how many reloads I did for error. |
