pretty sure it was xloot pre 1.0 that made it so i saw no loot frame at all? if i have autolooting on it used to not even show me a loot frame. now im back to it showing up for a split second.

well try adding your inset to both of those so it reads
skin:SetPoint('TOPLEFT', x, x)
skin:SetPoint('BOTTOMLEFT', x, x)
x = your insets and you will need to do it for skin1 i think, and either skin -1 or -2....

or do FrameStrata "artwork" framelvl 5 or something along those lines.
