Was that bug causing some UI lag by any chance? What kind of lag? It's just reducing overall performance (FPS)... The only lag, more like micro-freeze, I'm aware of is the one caused by memory usage info calculations if one uses something heavy like TSM, that's one of the reasons why I hid it the way I did.
