Apparently when I was fighting alongside my Shaman friend, things were getting killed too quickly to spot an error.
Fixing that error was... 9.6 ...painful.
I did a lot of testing with various spells, and now things like Entangling Roots and other DoTs should only do the Spelling thing on the successful initiation of the spell....

At the moment, Peek Alias is using zero more code than it would if it were combined, and any coder who looks at the code can tell you that. The only thing it means is another folder in your base Addons directory.

According to my research, resilience is Combat Rating #15 - Melee Hits Taken, this is how Blizzard registers it internally. Apparently the 'name' of it is just called Resilience, because COMBAT_RATING_NAME15 returns "Resilience". I've no idea why they named that stat so vaguely, but there you go.
