SpelloutMacro

Version: 1.1
by: Gello [More]

When you mouse over a macro, the normal behavior is to show a tooltip that contains the macro's name. This small mod replaces the tooltip of the macro's name with the tooltip of the highest rank of a spell named after the macro, if one exists.

For instance the macro pictured to the side has a name of "Revenge." When you mouseover the macro the tooltip will display the spell's tooltip instead of the name of the macro.

It should work for all mods that alter spell tooltips.

If a spell has greater than 16 characters to its name, name it the first 16 characters of the spell (including any space if any) and it will match the right spell.

It's possible that a mod depends on the tooltip of an action being one line to detect if it's a macro or not. This is not life-threatening but if your action bar or macro mod starts behaving funny then try disabling this to see if it's a cause. For 99% of users it's totally transparent.

1.1 2/22/06 only checks first 16 characters. lookup optimized
1.0 2/22/06 initial release

This still works - General GUI maybe (tooltips mentioned there), or Bar Mods

It goes by the assumption that each instance of a spell in a spellbook is the next higher rank. Maybe it doesn't work for warlocks.
Hm, very wierd. I don't have any other tooltip mods that could be messing with it; I'm assuming it's something wrong on my end. I'm doing a fresh reinstall in a couple days, so hopefully I can sort the problem out there. I'll also try it on my other toons

Close, but no cigar

I was just looking for a mod like this and I saw it on WoWI's index; wonderful. Only one problem, that I suppose doesn't plague warriors and rogues as your spells are always the up-to-date rank, but for ranked spells, it only shows rank 1. For example, a macro called "Drain Life" will show the Drain Life tooltip, but for rank 1; not the level-60 rank 6. I've tried to implement something to show ranks, but can't get it to work at all, just mangled it. Also trying to find out how to remove the text from macros so they look like regular buttons, but again, no cigar.
