Diablo 3 dynamic Orbs  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

BEWARE: If you are updating from version 1.1 or lower to 1.2 or higher, you HAVE to delete the old folders! (Diablo3Orbs, Diablo3HealthFrame, rFader, rTextures)

Hawt Stuff:
- should support death knights and runic power as of 1.21b. No rune display yet, I recommend RuneMover until then.



These are the Diablo 3 Orbs, taken from Roth UI v080722, with some changes.

Try it!


-Strata of frames changed to prevent UI elements getting hidden behind.
-The texture d3_bar4.tga is used instead of the original one for easier placement of action bars.
-Widened the space between the orbs.
-Optional angel/demon frame, widened the bottom bar.
-The power orb will now change color according to druid forms, or the player being a warrior/rogue. No more blue energy orbs for rogues (and warriors and stuff)!

You will need an action bar addon like bartender/bongos/dominos to actually place action buttons on top of the bar frame.

Modification suggestions

Here is a couple of modification tips to D3dynOrbs. First, the red life orb bugged me, I like it green, like in the original health bar. Fixing this was easy.

Change every occasion of "RedRadiationFog" to "GreenRadiationFog" in Diablo3dynOrbs.lua. Save file.
Edit the hue of orb_life.tga to green (hue value approx. 100) in a program that can save targa files with alpha channel (I use Adobe Photoshop, be aware that if you got version 7.0, you must update to version 7.0.1).

Second change I did to the code was telling it where to anchor. I use Sunn Viewport Art, and it bugged me that the orbs and bar would anchor to the bottom of the screen, instead of to the bottom of the viewport.

Change every occurrence of "UIParent" to "WorldFrame" in Diablo3dynOrbs.lua and Textures.lua. Save file.

Note that this causes the Diablo3 orb panel to revert to 1:1 scale, disregarding your UI scale, as it will no longer be part of the UI itself, but the World Frame. I do not know how to fix this though.

Remember to make backup of any file you change, before editing anything!

Yes, I played Diablo, but I play WoW now, and red health orb? Just not my cup of tea.

The mana orb is supposed to be blue, if you go by how it looks in Diablo, but the author or this addon has changed this to red for rage, and yellow for energy. Is having a green health orb instead of a red one any different?

random freezing ...

hello I would Like to report a small issue that i came across while using this wonderful UI, I have found that when entering certain areas the transition freezes for like roughly 15-20 seconds.

Most notable is in SMV when you head toward , the dragonmaw arena to do the dailies the conversion from standard flying mount to dragonmaw netherdrake normally triggers this problem.

I have turned off and even deleted all previous mods to see if their was something conflicting with the UI however so far it is still happening.

I had a similar issue. Try turning off vsync in your video options.

Wow, I showed this to my wife last night and she flipped. I really like it as well.

One question - there's no way I could fit all my bars into the space between the orbs as-is. Would it be possible for me to manually adjust the width of the bar area between the orbs? I run at 1900x1200 and I'd want to put the orbs on either side of the screen, so I was hoping I could just edit the files for the middle and extend them? Probably not that easy, I bet...

Can do. I will have to split up the main bar texture into 3 parts so it doesn't look streched.
The next release will have a command line option to stretch the main bar.

Regarding the freezing, I have absolutely no idea what could cause that.

Any ideas on how we can make the mana/rage/energy orb fill properly? I've noticed it's only updating when my health ticks, instead of constantly, like it should with the 3.0 patch release...

edit: Ugh, did a little more research.. It appears that UNIT_MANA only fires when mana is gained by any means -other- than regeneration, since the last patch, and the only way to make the orb "refresh" faster is to add an OnUpdate.

Yes thats true all events must be called (UNIT_FOCUS, UNIT_RAGE, UNIT_ENERGY and UNIT_MANA). Otherwise the floating new style is only available for energy. (Which is obvious since energy regens over time, mana and rage don't do this)

Shellshaper I updated my UI for Lichking and made some technical progress. The orbs are now a oUF layout and you could hide units you don't want.

Actually, mana -does- regen over time now.. Use the default unitframes and see for yourself..

Apparently this is not UI related because a few of my guildies are experiencing this issue in SMV and other locations and they do not have this UI so its simply a blizzard issue.

Regarding "smooth" mana/energy updates..

I modified my local copy to make it happen..

add these two lines at the very top of the file:

Yes, I know this uses an OnUpdate.. but unfortunately, I cannot seem to find any other way to make the power orb fill as it should.

As I mentioned earlier in the comments.. try disabling VSYNC in your video options.

This fixed it for me at least..
