Quest XP Tracker  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v0.6
by: ClassicFun [More]

About
A really small addon that hooks into the default QuestLog frames and adds Quest XP rewards to the quest list.

Notes

  • It will only show XP for newly accepted quests (no way of querying the XP unfortunately)
  • Since it adds text to a limited space there may be font/sizing issues if you use custom fonts

Compatible Addons
It should also work with:
Other Addons
For any other addon authors that want to query the same table this addon stores XP under, the format is simply: QXPdb[questID].XP

v0.6 - 2021-05-19

Update for TBC release

v0.5 - 2021-04-10
TOC bump for 1.13.6 - prep for TBC testing

v0.4 - 2020-03-11
TOC bump for 1.13.4 (nothing detected as breaking on PTR)

v0.3
Small update to turn off functionality once hitting level cap - no point showing 0xp for new quests, and old quests that had the old amount of XP will be zero at cap.

v0.2
Added a fallback method to finding the quest ID+XP for addons that auto-accept that seemed to cause issues with the original method.

What did I do wrong? Disabled all my addons and none of them are interfering with your addon.
It won't show for existing quests, there isn't a way of determining that - but for new quests you view/accept it should track.

Re: Re: Interoperability

It's working perfectly. Thank you so much!

Thank you!
Unless EzQuest is doing something funky with the Quest Log frames it'd be odd that it stops working - if I get chance I'll see if I can spot why.

Edit: I tried the addon and I can see the issue. When you accept a quest it fires an event called QUEST_DETAIL which apparently updates the return value from GetQuestID() - but with this addon it stops working and that game function returns 0. You can try yourself after accepting a quest: /run print(GetQuestID())

Since my addon needs to keep track of the ID <-> XP it can't store the info

Will dig around and see if I can find a way around it.

Edit 2:
I've uploaded v0.2 with a change to hopefully help with the above issue.

I really like this addon but I also like the addon above and yours doesnt work with it. I tried to make it work myself but seems it is harder then I assumed.
I'll have a look but it seems like they have their own Quest Log frames so may be difficult.

I wanted to do this as well but it was infuriating trying to work it out, even though at first glance it looked easy. Basically the problem as I see it, is when quest log headers are collapsed, you lose the ability to track what active quests belong to what zone. So you can show XP for an expanded section, but not collapsed (and collapsed is where I think this total XP would be ideal).
No worries, thanks for the time invested.
