SLClean

Version: v1.4.0
by: Thaenin [More]

SLClean v1.4.0:

******
WARNING!!! Actual addon name may be offensive to some people. Please download at your own risk!
******

SLClean allows you to keep a list of players to auto-emote on death. You can also enable "'jerk' mode" to auto-emote anyone you kill, listed or not. Version 1.4.0 has been a complete rewrite in Lua which should allow for faster loading--though the benefit is likely to be insignificant.

SLClean fires two emotes under valid conditions. The user can either select the two emotes to be fired via the options menu or random can be selected. Random randomly chooses from 51 emotes each time and fires two of them.

SLClean adds a minimap icon. Left-click it to bring up the main GUI. Right-click it to bring up the options menu. Shift-right-click it to bring up the menu to edit the list of emotes uses in random mode. In the options window left-click to set first emote, right-click to set second emote.

Enjoy!

Thaenin

v1.2:
-- The user can now edit the list of emotes to be used in "Random" mode.
v1.0:
-- The user can now select his/her own emotes to be automated from a list of 51 emotes.
--Added a new "ass-hole mode" that taunts every enemy kill, even if the name is not on the list.
-- Added an options menu accessible via right-click of the minimap icon.
-- See README file for a more thorough explanation of version 1.0.

/agree

Could we also get a name change on this mod... I realize that it is a "coined phrase", but for the purposes of this site and community, it is unnecessary and inappropriate.

You may play however you like, but the fact is that twinks in the battlegrounds often "greet" each other with insulting gestures. It's just like the trash talk that takes place in all professional sports. I created this addon because I wanted to give it back whenever I got it, but I wasn't fast enough typing to get the emote off in time. I also discovered in testing this addon that you can use it strategically to encourage certain players to focus on you instead of your team. If you're a twink this is good for you and your team. The addon is neither "unsportsman-like" or "adolescent". I would contend that your condescension in your post is "unsportsman-like" and "adolescent" -- as in the sport of addon construction I have as much right to create as anyone, and it is quite childish to be berated because you don't like the concept. Tell me about the functionality of the addon or browse on somewhere else. Thanks.

Thaenin

P.S. - I offered several names to those who tested my addon, and they all insisted I go with ShitList. Really there is no better name for such an addon. And since we're apparently concerned with being too much like an adolescent, I vote we stick to the grown-up words...;-P

1. i've been twinking in BGs for a long time (my "main" in my sig was in actuality my first post-BC twink) and i am not "greeted" in this way, nor do i "greet" anyone by laughing and spitting at them. yes, i see it more often than i care to, but i wouldn't call it a "greeting" by any means, and i just respond to them with /pity or /yawn anyway while doing my best to send them back to their GY. perhaps things are just generally more grown-up in my battlegroup.

2. yes, i fully comprehend the concept of baiting the other team into coming after you as a strategic tactic, but i certainly don't want to achieve it by spamming emotes that make me look like a maladjusted 14 year old that missed a Ritalin dose.

3. you absolutely have every right to make whatever addon you please...be my guest and best of luck to you. my comment was, in actuality, less about your addon and more about the environment that inspired you.

Fair enough, Rigorous. You're certainly entitled to your opinion. I still disagree with the implication that such an addon is immature. I am not an immature person and have not been 14 for a very long time, and I enjoy using this addon. However, I do use it in moderation, as I don't want to come off as a complete jerk auto-emoting every other person I kill. For example, I only use it on players that are about my skill level so they kill me about as much as I kill them. That way I'm sure we both get a kick out of the emotes (as they emote me, too) and I'm not just angering the other player. But anyway...

Thanks for your comments.

Purpose of Addon?

What I think is the shame is that I had to peruse through all the comments to find out just what this addon was all about. After reading the "description" of the addon and then through all the comments I think I have an idea but still not totally sure what this thing does. You might think about modifying your "Description" to really indicate just what your mod does.

Personally I think it is VERY immature to be an ADULT and act like a potty mouthed 14 year old.

Usually people grow up and learn that language like this is childish .... and well others never actually grow up.

BTW I do swear and have no problem with swears ... but to say this is a common thing in BG's is plain non-sense.

And you really need to say what your addon really does. Your description needs some work. As said below me ... i needed to actually read the comments to see what it did.

I thought it was another "ignore" list type of addon ....

My apologies. I rewrote the description with the unintended assumption that people had read the previous description I replaced with it. I will correct this after I respond here.

The short version of what this addon does is that it automatically issues a negative emote when you kill a target. So if you kill person "x" in "asshole mode" or when "x" is on the list it will do something like /laugh, /spit, /gloat, etc.--all depending on how you have it set up. Also, "asshole mode" emotes everything you kill, man or beast.

Thank you for your comment!

Your post is a bit confusing. I'm not sure if you object to the auto-emote concept or the name of the addon. I'll respond to both...

First, the name is not a basic swear word. It is a common term. It is even in the dictionary--at least the dictionary.com one. Furthermore, I challenge you to come up with a synonym for it--any at all. Hit list? No. The fact is that my name, "ShitList", is very apt for my addon--as much as "Auctioneer" is for that addon. I'm keeping a list of people to be ridiculed and insulted upon death.

Second, if you object to the concept of auto-emoting as some people are, then I say simply that you shouldn't use my addon. But I know a lot of people use it and enjoy it very much--myself included. Furthermore, I'm using emotes that are built into the game. Blizzard put them there for a reason, and I don't think it was to simply take up extra space on your hard disk and RAM. Against whom is it more appropriate to /gloat, for instance, than the opposing faction in the battlegrounds? If ever there is a use Blizzard intended for that emote, it is there.

And I guarantee I spend at least as much time as you in BGs. Perhaps it is just my server, but emotes are extremely common. I see everything from /kiss to /fart. But, if you are right and they're not wanted in BG, then I suppose my addon won't reach a very wide audience. And perhaps it won't. That remains to be seen.

Finally, thank you for your comment, and I will modify the description. I replaced the other one with it and unintentionally left out some information I intended to keep.

For heavens sakes people, its just a word. Act like adults and take the addons name in the humor that the writer intended it to be. I see nothing wrong with it, and obviously the admins don't either.

Come on people, lighten up, log into the game after work, chores, school or whatever and have some fun!

For future reference, people, when you have an objection to something on the site, the best course of action is to try to work it out amicably with the other party in private using our PM system. If that doesn't work, you should come to the site staff and ask us to moderate the problem. Making a big public stink about it violates the site CoC and isn't the way to deal with it. How are we supposed to know there is a problem if no one tells us.

I'm more than a little disappointed by the manner in which a number of you have dealt with this.

Awesome name!

I don't know how I stumbled on this but it's already in my favorites download folder...hehe. I grew up in a "real" environment and I've heard alot "you've just made my ****list" and i often say it. It's a comical word. It's not even a curse word, not in my vocabulary, maybe cuz i cuss like a sailor sometimes but I do know how to speak properly. I'm wagering most of the people who mess with mods do too. BG's get me worked up when they emote that i'm pretty much a retarded baboon in so many gestures and like you I'm slow to respond too. I'll get so mad when i've been shown up by the enemy, when I go to type i'm lined up wrong, type jibberish and feel like I'm the biggest newb that ever walked the virtual world. This will make me look sharp!

I apologize if I acted inappropriately. I'm quite new to wowinterface.com and am unfamiliar with the proper channels. Hopefully I won't have too many addons that upset people so! But, if I do have another, I'll keep in mind what you said.

Thank you.

Hey! I went directly to Cair. Not because the word offends me in any way, but because I have held back from posting some of my own mods out of respect for WoWI's rules. Any time I have a "questionable" mod name, I run it thru Cair first.

I was less than happy that, after taking such effort and not posting a number of my own mods, this mod name crops up :P
