by: totalpackage, drjebus, Sugarwing

Cellular is an instant messenger mod (for only whispers) based on the functionality of an old version of ForgottenChat.

YouTube Intro

Features:

  • Many appearance options
  • History log
  • A way to copy text
  • Reuse of the default chat editbox
  • Whispers shown in separate windows or a tab-based single window
  • Should work with most spam filter mods
  • ...and other basic IM features
  • !! New !! Language support for enUS / enGB and deDE

How to Use:
  • "/cellular", check Interface Options->AddOns, or right-click a window for options
  • Left-click a window to toggle the editbox
  • Left-click a tab to activate it
  • Shift-left-click and drag a window to move
  • Shift-left-click and drag bottom-right corner to resize
  • Right-click a tab for show/close/options dropdown
  • Middle-click a tab to close
  • Hold ctrl and close any window/tab to quick remove from history
  • Several convenient buttons (some require shift clicking for confirmation reasons)

Warnings:
  • If you have history enabled and notice that Cellular is using a lot of memory, you should cleanup your history entries using Cellular's history options.
  • If you're experiencing crashing due to memory errors, disable and clear your history.
  • If you cherish your history, you can back up the saved variables file and then delete it. You can view it in any text editor later. The location of the saved variables file is here:
    ...\WTF\Account\<Account Name>\<Server Name>\<Character Name>\SavedVariables\Cellular.lua

Im having the exact same problem as Sano, but I cant even log in wihout crashing. Its the first time Ive tried the addon so I dont have any history or anything. I would really love to try this addon since I love the functions, like wim.

This application has encountered a critical error:

Not enough storage is available to process this command.

Sorry, no idea. I don't see anything extreme in Cellular that would be causing or contributing to that error. It would be easier to locate the cause if that error occurred for me.

I was just skimming through the comments and didn't see an answer to this, and it may be a simple answer as I am not very good with addons yet, but how did you get the nice blue backround in the picture you posted? I really like the look and I don't see the option for it.

Thanks!

It's a texture for statusbars called Runes if I remember correctly. I don't use it; I just used it as an example. Anyway, if you want more textures, try a media package such as Grizzly Shared Media. The new textures should show up on your background list for Cellular. Choose a texture, play with color options, and enjoy.

Sized too big, can't resize

I had a mouse mishap and somehow I managed to size my Cellular Addon so it goes from the top to bottom of my screen... and I can't see my edit box or resize it via the bottom-right-corner. Is there another way to resize it? Or how can I get it to go back to normal size? I checked the menu, and all it said for resizing was using the bottom right corner and shift. Since I can't get to that... how should I go about doing it?

Will I have to uninstall and reinstall or delete any saved variables anywhere?

Try this to reset your settings:
Code:
/script CellularDB=nil ReloadUI()

Could you implement something to copy the chat?
Maybe you can take the code from: http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-a...easy-copy.aspx

There's already a copy text button (bottom left side button, looks like a scroll). Not the best, but it's something.

Thanks. Cellular is not competing with WIM; they're in different weight classes.

Critical errors

I really do love this addon (it's been a lifesaver for keeping track of whisper conversations in the middle of raids), however I believe it is causing my wow to crash.

This application has encountered a critical error:

Not enough storage is available to process this command.

Program: C:\Users\Public\World of Warcraft\Wow.exe
File: .\src\lmemPool.cpp
Line: 311

Requested 3616 bytes of memory
-------------

I've been trying to pinpoint which addon I had that was causing the problems for over a week now. It seemed to be a random, different one each day. Today though I actually took the time to go through and re-enable ones that I had disabled before, and one by one test them all. I can enable all my addons but Cellular and have no troubles. The instant I enable Cellular wow crashes. Tested this on several characters and realms as well.

I believe (though I don't know much about programing) That cellular is having issues with other addons, which is causing some people to encounter these critical errors. 3 systems other than mine, based off the same UI compilation ( http://www.wowinterface.com/download...raUi.html#info ) are not experiencing the same critical errors I am, and none of them use Cellular in addition to the compilation.

Here's a list of the current addons I use:

Add Ons: Atlas Atlas_Battlegrounds Atlas_DungeonLocs Atlas_OutdoorRaids Atlas_Transportation AtlasLoot AtlasLootFu Auc-Advanced Auc-Filter-Basic Auc-Stat-Classic Auc-Stat-Histogram Auc-Stat-iLevel Auc-Stat-Purchased Auc-Stat-Simple Auc-Stat-StdDev BeanCounter Bigwigs ButtonFacade ButtonFacade_Elegance ButtonFacade_Sleek ButtonFacade_DsmFade ButtonFacade_LiteFlat Cartographer Cartographer_Battlegrounds Cellular Chatter Chinchilla Badapples CloseUp CooldownWatch Dominos Dominos_Buff Dominos_Cast Dominos_Roll Dominos_XP Enchantrix Enchantrix-Barker FuBar_DominosFu FuBar_MoneyFu FuBar GnomeCharmer Grid GridManaBars GridStatusHots GridStatusRaidDebuff kgPanels SharedMediaLib LibSharedMedia-3.0 LightHeaded MikScrollingBattleText MBB nQuestLog OPie Outfitter PitBull PowerAuras Quartz RatingBuster Recount RedRange SharedMedia SLDataText SlideBar Stubby !Swatter

I'm not sure what kind of other information you might need to figure out what exactly is causing the conflict, but I'd be happy to provide you with anything I can. I'd love to be able to use this addon again.

I've already added ways to reduce history size. If you have a massive history, try cleaning it out. Also, those are some hefty addons in your list.

Re: Critical errors

I've been getting that same critical error for some time now. I've crashed from it repeatedly and it stops when I disable Cellular. I know I don't have a lacking of memory

(2 gigs of RAM and a 1G videocard) so it's definitely not my computer that's causing this (I also have very few add-ons, the biggest add-on I have takes up 1.5 mb of memory)

Next time I get the error I'll post it.

Oh, and aside from that error, this mod is great. I've been using it since about November of last year, and keep with it!

Re: Re: Critical errors

I'm not going to be convinced that Cellular alone is causing that error unless it is the only mod running when that error occurs and the error stops once you disable it. My girlfriend and I have not yet gotten that error. Of course, we do not use any massive addons.

My research on this error shows this is a common error; none showed Cellular in their mod list. Most people fixed this error by disabling a large mod (QuestHelper and Auctioneer were the popular ones) or clearing their Cache folder.
