It's an addon to create and configure ANYTHING that has to do with unit frames, raid frames and much more. It has a GUI so you don't need to know a lot about the LUA language to create a UI from scratch. You still need to have a strong understanding of UI creations and I wouldn't suggest this to someone that is new to the UI modification scene. I've been messing with it for about an hour and I am amazed. Just when I thought I had the perfect UI, I find my self scrambling to recreate it with this platform.

I'm not an OpenRDX Developer, but I've used this mod for 3 years.

I'd describe OpenRDX as a mod that gives users the tools to create their own "mods" without knowledge of lua programming. The mods you create with OpenRDX can only be used by other players with OpenRDX.

With the advancements made to this mod over the years, I'd say OpenRDX has the capability to function as almost any and every mod-classification out there, as well as perform functions that other mods can't do. Unitframes, Raidframes, Minimaps, Actionbars, Chatwindows, Bossmods, Raid mods, etc. all can be created with OpenRDX. In simpler terms, there are mod-hungry users out there with OpenRDX as their only addon.

Why is one mod better than many?
Think about it, no more hassle with keeping various addons up-to-date. No more poorly-designed mods using up memory. All of your addons are in one place, etc.

Most often, people will go around looking for new Unitframes or Raidframes and stumble upon OpenRDX. To these new users, OpenRDX may seem complicated and overwhelming because they haven't experienced such degree of customization.

A lot of times I hear a new user say something like "All I want is some raidframes, but this mod takes too long to figure stuff out" That's okay, because usually what you're looking for has already been created by an OpenRDX user, and has been hosted on WoWInterface for you to download. Once you download what you're looking for and get it working, you can checkout how it was made using OpenRDX, and learn how to use OpenRDX yourself.

If you can't find what you're looking for, the OpenRDX community and developers will be glad to assist you on our forums at
http://www.wowinterface.com/forums/f...splay.php?f=76

For more information, you can read a developer's introduction to OpenRDX at
http://www.wowinterface.com/portal.php?&uid=109479

Hope that helps anyone with questions about OpenRDX.

There is an option, I believe under the 4th or 5th icon on the control bar, that is called something like "Blizzard Hide All" or some nonense. Check that out.

Thanks, finally found it. I was looking in the desktop editor and all options were unchecked. Found the option under Performance and Debug.

So i just updated my RDX, and now i have some bar at the top of my screen and am missing buttons from my bags/hotkeys below, they're all at the top.

How do I disable all this new stuff and just have my old window I had setup. Is there a way to disable this new desktop bar? Its redundant since i already have Fubar.

Also I don't have the old "menu bar" with the painters pallete and lock and what not, its totally gone. I've tried to /rdx reset and show/hide and nothing works.

This is what it looks like: http://www.darktalisman.com/images/broken_rdx.jpg

The crap at the top of the screen is some new feature that Sigg is creating. He calls it his DUI (desktop user interface) and it is apparently better.

I don't know if you can disable it or not, and as a result I just stopped using Open-RDX. Too many changes and not enough documentation of said changes. Taking a poll as to what the users would prefer may be a good idea in the future.

There may be a way to revert the looks back to pre 3.3, but you would have to mess around with clicking/right-clicking/left-clicking on the new options at the top of the screen.

Yeah i can't use it anymore if its going to force me to have that bar at the top. I've been using RDX since it was a pay mod, i just need the windows, not the desktop. Ahh well, was nice knowing ya RDX. =(
