NinjaInvite  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 1.0

NinjaInvite 1.0
This addon searches the /who for levels 1-80 of all classes and races (it works for both horde and alliance), and sends them a guild invitation to which they can either accept or decline! I use the addon on my bank alt because I wanted more people to talk too. I ran it three or four times only and now have over 200 separate active accounts in my guild, all of which have been active for over two months and logged in within the last 10 days.

History
Originaly named RapeDotty and written by Eggsampler. Last updated 11-06-2008(Several Patches Ago). I updated the addon and changed its name and trigger as I didn't like typing "Rape" everytime I wanted to run the addon(Sorry Eggsampler).
RapeDotty
EDIT: I was asked to remove the link to Eggsampler's forum thread so I have changed said link to a Google search instead.

Changes
* Now includes Death Knights
* Now includes levels 71-80
* Modified triggers ("/ni start/stop")
* Credit to Eggsampler is given here rather than in the addon.

BE ADVISED
* This addon may get your account suspended or banned if abused in any way.
* This addon is not to be used in conjunction with Botting, spamming, scamming, gold selling, masturbating, harassing, or with any malicious intent.
* This addon is to be used at your own risk.
* This addon should not be ran more than 1-3 times a week in order to prevent being reported as spamming.
* This addon is only to be used as a tool to increase guild population in struggling guilds.

Ver 1.0
* Now includes Death Knights
* Now includes levels 71-80
* Modified triggers ("/ni start/stop")
* Credit to Eggsampler is given here rather than in the addon.

Rewrote

Mmkay. I rewrote Travistey’s work. If y’all’re interested in a little bit saner implementation, check it out here: http://github.com/elliottcable/NinjaInvite

One further idea: it’d be really neat if this addon would utilize an addon channel to communicate with other users of the addon, those people who have specifically declined invites. Some sort of global-across-the-server blacklist (even if it has to be specific to this addon).

For instance, if the addon invites somebody, and they aren’t in the guild when it checks two and a half minutes later, it could whisper them with something like “Are you sure you don’t want a guild? Why not? (if you want to be blacklisted from all further invites, reply with `~block`)” from your character. That might help recruit unsure people, while allowing true soloers to get rid of the spam.

Repeat-invites, and limitations.

I love the idea if this; I could get rid of my starting-zone-/who macros.

The problem, is that I have no desire to spam *everybody*: For instance, if somebody’s unguilded after level 30 or so, there’s probably a damn good reason; they don’t want a guild, or they have specific requirements (raiding, ICC teams, whatever). Another example, unguilded people standing around in cities are probably mule alts or similar, and I have no desire to invite them, either.

Finally, and quite probably *most importantly*, this addon should never, ever invite the same character name twice. Once and done, *period*. Once somebody’s said no, or joined and then quit, they’ve *made a decision*, and it’s not your right (or rather, the addon user’s right) to question that.

So, quite simply, this addon needs configurable limitations. Unlike the other posters, I don’t give a shit if you leave it *possible* to /invite every unguilded person on the server; but I *do* want a way to say “only invite people between levels X and Y” (would work for new guilds, 1-30, *or* raiding guilds, 70-80), or “only invite people in these zones” (such as the starting zones). Also, a checkbox to not-invite-again character names as you invite them.

Yeah, I kind of just use my guild to allow anyone not in a guild to have access to a guild bank and a place for alts that don't really have anywhere else to be. I purchased 3 bank tabs and everyone who joins has permission to invite other people and has access to the guild bank.

It is more of a social place.

Bringing out an addon with a huge potential for abuse and then saying, "Please don't abuse it" is not going to work. There will always be rude jackasses who will not care if people feel harassed by being hit by 13241412 ninja invites.

Please put limits on this addon, such as allowing it to invite only x number of people at a time, and only allowing it to invite after sending a polite whisper first.

The point of having a guild is - arguably - a community where you can set arbitrary (but collectively agreed upon) rules so you can enjoy the game with "like-minded" people.

I don't see how reproducing /trade in your guild chat promotes that in any way.
But that's just my opinion if it's useful to some it's justified.

What I don't think can be "solved" in any way is the fact that this is a spam addon.

Asking individual users to only run it 1-3 times a week may work to protect them from being reported but... from the average unguilded player's perspective does it really matter if he's getting spammed by 1 abusive user or 10 self-disciplined ones?

Overall the more installations this would get the more automated /ginvite spam on the server.

The idea seems decent, is there a way to maybe have it with conditions? And maybe an invite whisper where if they want to be invited they can reply with say... Invite Me and it will 'then' trigger the Guild Invite?

This could prevent a lot of issues and random invite negativity.
