Preamble
Sometime before 2018 Scott made the decision to step away from nUI development and maybe even WOW itself. So that his baby would go forward without his assistance he placed the addon under Creative Commons license to enable others to carry on maintaining it. I was one of the people he asked if I wanted to be one of the developers going forward. At the time I wasn't playing the game at all due to funds but as per usual, expansion came along and it was time to get my characters up to speed, as well as my addons. So I monitored the CurseForge page and found disappointing customers, I then emailed Scott and had no reply. I decided I would take up the baton and try and keep it at least running with as few problems as possible, my skills are not on par with Scott so it may take me longer to identify some errors than it would for him.

nUI is no longer author supported and is released to the public in the hopes that the
community will continue to support and grow nUI in the years to come. My sincere
thanks to everyone over the years who have helped make nUI what it is (was).

Now
I will keep this maintained as long as I am able to and try to keep WOW non access to a period of working I will of course fix any errors that are identifiable without access, or available via lowbie access if money causes me to take another break.

Going Forward
Depending on the legalities of the license, I will either attempt to create a more robust version of nUI using the newer Blizzard API functionality or more likely attempt to create my own UI from scratch, that works in a similar vein to nUI for those that just can't play without it, I sure missed those InfoPanels

Issues
I've now been added as an author on the curse project for nUI so can you please post any bugs and issues there where possible so that they can be tracked that little bit easier. But feel free to post here if you are unable to.

It will likely affect how the override bar will work in some instances. Please let me know if there are any issues in that regards. On the flip side, not having that code in might limit the number of in combat errors which I believe is in part caused by my attempts at getting nUI to play nice with Blizzards changes to the bar.

The ones below are currently the only issues I am aware of ( outside of the already known mainly in combat issues that surface quite regularly ) Player Power Bars Totally forgot about the player power bars that had some changes made in that area .. so have attempted a fix, but having problems testing it both on Beta version ( for a max level character ) and Live version ( for a playing character ). Various Blizzard problems are getting in the way. If I don't get any joy testing. I will upload once I am happy they are as good as I can make it. Additional Power Types I did notice some new damage types surfacing that I will also need to investigate. It doesn't error out as such but displays a warning to let me know. So far I have seen the following power types 36 - 32 + 4 33 - 32 + 1 72 - 64 + 8 This is only an issue with nUI as it is trying to use the appropriate colour for feedback purposes (if memory serves ) . CheckInteractDistance This is a brief error that occasionally surfaces when in combat when you interact with a friendly character ( npc or player ). In fact the only errors were linked to a Blizzard frame with Blizzard Code. That other addon writers have been discussing, so not a nUI only situation to resolve at present. So, looks like, a Cata specific addon will be required based off of the Wrath one. Yeah, someone else told me that via another contact point and they'll let me know if the fix I just did resolves that as well. I forgot the stance bar. The pet bar I had fixed before which is how I found the solution. It's a big chear but it seems to work. They only appear when dragging the spells to the bars, but then should disappear when you finish the process.

It's not a perfect fix but hopefully most of the time the extra borders don't show.

Not sure what they did but this was a problem that surfaced mysteriously in retail and I am not sure if I ever managed to fix it - or at least knowingly fixed it. I'll have to read through some of the reports and my comments on curseforge as I may have said in there if I had identified the cause there.

However, comparing the button code between wrath and retail and the few differences are linked to the post wrath changes to retail.

However, I did receive an error that I don't recall seeing before with the combat log, which was easily fixable, but wasn't the cause of the bar issues.

Looking at this post on wowhead it looks like a vast UI overhaul may be needed

Unfortunately I can't see a post link back to blizzard to confirm the information is correct and if so, exactly what has been added ( as EditMode clearly hasn't been )

For Classic I will see if I can add the loot frame to the mover system if it isn't already there. Because the frame may not exist on log in it might not be possible. As far as I know nUI doesn't create or manage the loot frame so I will avoid that where possible. Why add to the taint issues nUI already has rofl.
