EventAlert  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 4.7.6
by: CurtisTheGreat [More]

The addon will notify you in the middle of your screen with an icon, name of the spell that has procced, the time left on the proc and will make a subtle sound. EventAlert is also able to handle more than one proc at a time (this option was not available in previous versions).

I am not fond of addons that have very complicated installation and setups. The mod should work on install without any config, but if you wish to change any options use the following command: /ea options
To see a more detailed list of what options are avaiable to the mod, just check out the screenshot of the options pane.

This mod tracks the following events/procs:

  • Death Knight
    • Cinderglacier (Runeforging)
    • Dark Transformation
    • Killing Machine
    • Rime (Freezing Fog)
    • Rune Strike

Quick Backstory: I created this addon as a test for myself as my first "from the ground up" addon. Most of my coding in WoW LUA was taking other addons and just fixing them so they work from minor bugs or whatnot.

Anyhow, I needed a mod that was lightweight and did only what I wanted it to do, and that was warn me when one of my spells or talents procced something I needed. Thus, EventAlert was born. There are likely to be bugs, explosions and not so good things that may come from this mod. I'm sorry in advance! If you find a bug, please let me know so I can fix it.

Also, if anyone finds a spell/talent/etc that they want watched, please let me know and I will add it!

4.7.6
Bugfix: Fixed problem with spell charges not showing up on alerts.
Bugfix: Fixed problem with alerts not showing when options changed without a reload.
Change: Added option to show/hide spell charges.

To see the full change log, view the changelog.txt file included in the EventAlert zip file.

Awesome. I know what needs to happen to fix this. Thank you for the help!

I'll try and get this updated as soon as I can.

Thanks for the quick reply Curtis. To answer you question when i press the "Show/hide Class Alerts" (i assume that's what you mean pls correct me if I'm wrong) MW is listed and has the correct spell id, which made me think (watch out for fire pls) "what if i uncheck this box?" because i had just disabled the addon for now, and BINGO! MW x5 stack triggered EA and only the x5 stack triggered it. SO, that got me thinking more (stand back now). Went into "Show/Hide Stacking Buff Options" and played around with the trigger number of stack, and it's all working correctly IE put 3 as the trigger, EA popped up for stack 3,4,5. Put in 10 as the trigger number, got to 5 stack (which is the limit) and no EA trigger.

In summary, and as a temp "work around" for fellow shamans, /ea opt -> Show/Hide Class Alerts -> Uncheck MW makes it work properly.

For future testing, i am willing to help out in any way for enhance shaman testing, just PM me and I'll give you my email, and will give as much of a detailed feedback as possible to help out if needed for any new changes.

*edit* making sure i didn't miss anything relevant, played around some more with the options on a training dummy. When Lightning Shield and MW is checked to show but under Class Alerts MW is NOT checked off, i get LS counter in first EA icon, MW on first proc (it's still set to show on 5 only) shows in second icon area, then on second MW proc, the overlapping starts. If i leave the setting the same, just DO NOT use LS on myself, everything is fine. Settings are; MW is not checked for Class Alerts, LS not checked off/MW checked off in stack settings everything seems fine (no LS on myself) ; SAME SETTINGS ; cast LS on myself, EA goes off on every MW proc. Seems as tho LS buff, whether tracked or not, is causing problems.

The main options come up, but after clicking Icon Position Options, nothing happens, other ones won't show either with a fresh install.

Edit: Failed, had it at the bottom right, so I couldn't see it, Owned.

Did you add them as custom spells and do they show up in the custom spells pulldown menu after you add them?

sry Curtis but it's still a no go. With Maelstrom Weapon checked enabled in Primaries, every stack of MW gets EA going. Disabled does still work properly tho, EA goes off on the 5th stack. This is with Lighting Shield Stacking Buff Options disabled (unchecked) and no LS buff on the shaman. As soon as i use LS on myself (not changing the settings) EA goes off on every stack of MW.

On my warlock I had this error:
Code:
Message: Interface\AddOns\EventAlert\EventAlert.lua:363: EAFrame_63167:SetPoint(): EAFrame_71165 is dependent on this
Time: 10/27/10 14:57:12
Count: 2
Stack: [C]: in function `SetPoint'
Interface\AddOns\EventAlert\EventAlert.lua:363: in function `EventAlert_PositionFrames'
Interface\AddOns\EventAlert\EventAlert.lua:124: in function <Interface\AddOns\EventAlert\EventAlert.lua:30>

Locals: (*temporary) = EAFrame_63167 {
 0 = <userdata>
 spellTimer = EAFrame_63167_Timer {
 }
 spellName = EAFrame_63167_Name {
 }
}
(*temporary) = "CENTER"
(*temporary) = EAFrame_71165 {
 0 = <userdata>
 spellTimer = EAFrame_71165_Timer {
 }
 spellName = EAFrame_71165_Name {
 }
}
(*temporary) = "CENTER"
(*temporary) = 100
(*temporary) = 0
I'm not exactly sure what triggered it, but it was during a fight.

It's prob a bug and nothing you can do with the settings. Let me fiddle with it some more.

Is it possible to get timer for Victory Rush? I was able to get the icon to show when Victory Rush is available by checking "Enable Alternate Alerts" and adding its spell ID (34428), but I can't figure out any way add 20 second timer to the alert.

It would be really nice to know how long time I have to engage next mob and use victory rush on it.

On my Shaman Maelstrom seems to work ok, but with other classes EA seems to do nothing at all. On my Mage I can provide an error message I'm getting spammed with:

1x EventAlert-4.5.2\EventAlert.lua:363: EAFrame_44544:SetPoint(): EAFrame_57761 is dependent on this
EventAlert-4.5.2\EventAlert.lua:363: in function `EventAlert_PositionFrames'
EventAlert-4.5.2\EventAlert.lua:124: in function <EventAlert\EventAlert.lua:30>

Locals:
event = nil
prevFrame = EAFrame_57761 {
0 = <userdata>
spellTimer = EAFrame_57761_Timer {}
spellName = EAFrame_57761_Name {}
}
(for generator) = <function> defined =[C]:-1
(for state) = <table> {
1 = 57761
2 = 44544
3 = 44544
4 = 44544

7 = 44544
8 = 44544
9 = 44544

}

spellTimer = EAFrame_44544_Timer {}
spellName = EAFrame_44544_Name {}
}
