EventAlert  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 4.7.6
by: CurtisTheGreat [More]

The addon will notify you in the middle of your screen with an icon, name of the spell that has procced, the time left on the proc and will make a subtle sound. EventAlert is also able to handle more than one proc at a time (this option was not available in previous versions).

I am not fond of addons that have very complicated installation and setups. The mod should work on install without any config, but if you wish to change any options use the following command: /ea options
To see a more detailed list of what options are avaiable to the mod, just check out the screenshot of the options pane.

This mod tracks the following events/procs:

  • Death Knight
    • Cinderglacier (Runeforging)

Quick Backstory: I created this addon as a test for myself as my first "from the ground up" addon. Most of my coding in WoW LUA was taking other addons and just fixing them so they work from minor bugs or whatnot.

Anyhow, I needed a mod that was lightweight and did only what I wanted it to do, and that was warn me when one of my spells or talents procced something I needed. Thus, EventAlert was born. There are likely to be bugs, explosions and not so good things that may come from this mod. I'm sorry in advance! If you find a bug, please let me know so I can fix it.

Also, if anyone finds a spell/talent/etc that they want watched, please let me know and I will add it!

4.7.6
Bugfix: Fixed problem with spell charges not showing up on alerts.
Bugfix: Fixed problem with alerts not showing when options changed without a reload.
Change: Added option to show/hide spell charges.

To see the full change log, view the changelog.txt file included in the EventAlert zip file.

You're quite welcome.

I won't be leaving WoW again for a very long time, since expansion is coming up. Feel free to spread the word that I'm back and that the mod will get updated.

Ok, I've gone through the last year's worth of posts. Someone posted why the addon broke in 3.3, due to a bug of Blizzard's doing back in December. It seems they fixed that bug. I've tested all the reported broken alerts and they have all worked on my end.

If you find you are still having issues, please try closing WoW, deleting your EventAlert saved variables file then restarting WoW. This will reset everything to default and hopefully fix anything that's broken.

If you find something isn't working still after that, please report it here so I can get it fixed. Thanks!

I had left WoW back when I was working on this addon, so the reason I didn't update it, is because I didn't have an active account. Since I've come back, I'll be updating this addon. But thanks for the offer.

GoodNewsEveryone (here on WowInterface, made by Tekkub) is probably the closest/best working alternative to EventAlert. And its well coded, efficient & non-buggy.

GoodNewsEveryone hasn't been "updated" for WoW 3.3, but it works without issue as it uses a different method of detecting procs than the now-broken mods do.

Its a bit different in style than EventAlert in that instead of a big icon, its more "text oriented". It puts up the full text name of a proc (along with a timer) that you can adjust the size & location of.

It also plays a sound when something procs, like EventAlert does. You can easily change the sound on line #114 of its LUA if you don't like its default.

There is no such thing as "PowerAura" . You mean "Power Auras Classic"? If so, that mod alerts to a lot more than just procs/events as EventAlert used to. Due to that--and its coding--it is incredibly bloated. Uses a giant pile of memory & CPU time. Not to mention the latest version is apparently buggy (according to its comments).

GoodNewsEveryone is a superior, working alternative.

Anyway, sorry to hear you have left, CurtisTheGreat. Thanks for the mod; it was great while it lasted . Good luck in the future.

Fury Warriors:

Since the Fall of Lich King patch came out, Fury Warriors' Bloodsurge does not proc a tile over your character with EventAlert.

However it works fine with all the Arms Warrior procs. Please update EventAlert for us, thanks !

If you turn on your floating battle text you can get green text (same color as heals) to see the Bloodsurge procs until they update the add-on.

Question before I download and install (as I'm not at a computer I can play WoW on): is there an option to remove the icons and timer, and just have the text, or is there another mod (other than MSCT) that will do the same thing? I basically only want a text alert on my screen that says what the proc name is and I only want it to show procs that I tell it to.

Great mod, haven't missed a proc since I got it
I've recently aquired a chance on hit trinket + 2-set t8 bonus for mage.
I can understand that adding all trinket procs ingame might be a little too much to add to the addon, but perhaps there's an (easy) way to add some spesific procs myself? Would love to know how would make keeping track of trinket procs in pvp a much easier with all the stuff going on

Hi .... great Mod. MY lock uses it all the time but my kitty needs some love
Any chance you could add some procs for her?
savage roar would be a great start as it is a buff to the cat and makes you take your eye off of the target.

thanks so much
