O-Wheely! - Buffs and Macros on your Mousewheel
Version 1.02
by <Damage Inc> of (EU)Draenor - email damageinc [at] theedgeofthevoid.com
What does O-Wheely! do?
Buffs!
Rolling your mousewheel will intelligently buff you, your target and nearby members of your party/raid automatically.
Macros!
When no buffs are needed, or in-combat, macros can be defined on mousewheelup/down.
BuffReminders!
O-Wheely reminds you about missing buffs in the standard UI error frame
(where messages like "Out of Range" and "You can't do that yet" normally appear)
so you don't forget to buff yourself, your target, your party or your raid
Camera Zoom!
Camera-zoom still works too, just hold the rightmousebutton when scrolling
What Buffs does O-Wheely! remind me about/cast?
Self Buffs
O-Wheely! remembers your last Blessing,Aura,Aspect,Mage Armor,Warlock Armor,Shaman WeaponBuffs and Rogue Poisons,
reminds you when they expire and will recast them when you roll the mousewheel
Party/Raid Buffs
O-Wheely! checks nearby party/raid members, reminds you when they need one of your buffs and casts them when you roll the mousewheel
Group buffs are used (if you have reagents) so long as at least 4 players are in range/need the buff.
Single-target buffs are used otherwise - so no wasting reagents on latecomers/when rebuffing after deaths etc.
Situational Buffs
O-Wheely! will remember when you cast certain spells on yourself or party/raid members, will remind you when they expire and recast them when you roll the mousewheel.
Self-Buffs are remindered/recast until you cancel an active buff (even after logout)
Buffs cast on others are remindered/recast until you leave party/raid or logout.
Note: "/ow sreset" clears all situational non-self-buffs (at the request of raiders!)
Hunters
Mousewheeling toggles between combat and runspeed Aspects.
Paladins
Mousewheeling will enable Crusader Aura when mounted and your last Aura when dismounted.
Full details of the buffs cast for your class appears on the Interface/Options screen (/ow)
What Macros does O-Wheely! cast?
Use "/ow macro" (or Interface/Addons/O-Wheely!/Macro Configuration) to access the macro configuration screen.
There are presets available for most classes or you can enter you own macros for MouseWheelUp and MouseWheelDown.
These will be called when there are no buffs required or when you're in-combat.
Note:
If no macro is defined, the following spells will be cast in-combat.
Paladins (MouseWheelDown): Last non Crusader Aura (Self)
Hunters (MouseWheelDown): Last non-runspeed Aspect (Self)
Getting Started
The first time you play a character, cast your favourite buffs
(Paladin: Blessing/Aura, Hunters: Aspect, Mage: Shield, Warlock: Armor, Shaman: WeaponBuffs, Rogue: Poisons).
O-Wheely! will then reminder/recast these anytime you're not "resting" (e.g. in a city).
FAQ
Q - Is this an ACE/ACE2/ACE3 Mod?
A - No - partly because I'm not familiar with ACE and partly because it wouldn't greatly benefit from ACE's framework/libraries.
It's very low-cpu and low-memory - it typically uses < 60kb memory and almost no CPU.
Q - I'd like to customise the buffs I'm giving.
A - I've tried VERY hard to make buffing so simple that no configuration is required.
If you have a suggestion as to how O-Wheely! could buff 'smarter' do please let me know.
Q - I'd rather not use Group Buffs in some situations - how can I?
A - Either carry no reagents (lol!) OR hold LeftMouseButton when scrolling to prevent any group buff being used

Common/Known Issues
Q - (Paladins and Hunters) In combat, mousewheeldown toggles my Aura/Aspect on and off - why?
A - You entered combat with Crusader Aura/Aspect of the Cheetah/Pack so the mousewheel was setup to replace it.
I can't change this until combat ends and buffing yourself with an Aura/Aspect you already have cancels it!
Q - (Paladins and Hunters) MousewheelDown isn't removing my mount/runspeed Aura/Aspect in combat
A - If you've created a macro/chosen a preset for MouseWheelDown, that will overrides this function.
To restore it, select "Do Nothing" for MouseWheelDown.
Q - I've cancelled a situational buff but O-Wheely! keeps rebuffing me with it.
A - You need to cast and then immediately cancel a buff for O-Wheely to stop rebuffing it automatically.
Q - Why isn't Shift/Control/Alt+Mousewheeling working?
A - It's possible you have specifically bound these to other functions
To check what bindings exist ow checkbindings" - a list of any mousewheel bindings will be shown.
Shift+Mousewheel is bound BY DEFAULT to Action Bar Paging
CTRL+Mousewheel is bound BY DEFAULT to Vehicle Control in WOTLK
You can override these bindings by selecting Shift/Ctrl/Alt options on the "/ow" options screen
You do NOT need to remove the camera bindings - I override these automatically.
Q - Why don't [button:1] modifiers work in OWheely macros (/ow macro)
A - WoW discards mousebutton information when you scroll the wheel - sorry about that...
Q - I've NOT selected CTRL/ALT/SHIFT+mousewheel (/ow) but it still works when I hold CTRL and scroll the wheel - why?
A - If you have NOTHING bound to CTRL/ALT/SHIFT+Mousewheel WOW just ignores the modifier entirely.
Q - I've selected CTRL/ALT/SHIFT+mousewheel (/ow) and macros with modifiers like [mod:alt] don't work?
A - WoW discards modifiers if they're specifically bound.
To use them, uncheck CTRL/ALT/SHIFT in "/ow" and remove any keybindings shown in "/ow keybindings".

mmmk
either way o-wheely rules and that's the only way I could get it and the minimap both functioning with that ui. Is there anyway I can set an attack macro to the wheelup in /ow menu and have it dismount me when I try to use it? I tried adding /dismount to the macro and for some reason it refuses to dismount. matter of fact I haven't been able to get it to do any macro I manually setup while mounted. although it does dismount me when it wants to cast a buff such as inner fire.

Re: mmmk
You cannot currently - but I guess there's no reason NOT to - use macros when mounted. You can always use [nomounted] if you want to avoid dismounting yourself - I'll change this in the next release - and I'll make sure all the presets have [nomounted] ofc... The next release should also function independantly of the Blizzard Minimap - as I have no need of the button being 'onscreen' any longer (it was a testing thing) The next release will also be WOTLK compatible - very few changes needed (thankfully) - author BETA keys FTW!!! DeathKnights will be considered when other classes are buffing (tho I know NOTHING about the buffs they can offer yet so that won't be included for a while yet). Thanks for the feedback! |

0.92 uploaded and awaiting approval.
This release is compatible with WOTLK BETA (8820) and normal WOW Other changes are mainly in response to comments here... To reset Party/Raid (and NOT self) Situational Buffs - type "/ow sreset" Removed dependency on Blizzard MINIMAP frame Macros will now cast when mounted - to avoid dismounting use [nomounted] in your macros (all presets use this) Situational Buffs will now NOT cast when mounted - on account that they never should have - sorry! |

Presets keep wiping
After a recent reinstall, I notice that the preset macros won't stick between sessions. Most recently, they refused to stick even within the same session. If I took the time to /ow and reset them between each battle, I'd have a 50/50 chance of it going right. I'm most inclined to believe the fault lies on this end, but what the heck could it be?

Re: Presets keep wiping
Each addon which uses that screen contains code which resets itself (in O-Wheely! that's blanking-out the presets) but addons are only supposed to call their OWN reset mechanisms. If your presets are disappearing frequently I'd say you have an addon which is calling the 'Reset ALL Addons' mechanism instead. You can test this by entering Code:
/script OW_mwupdnpanel.default = nil If that does work let me know - and if you could list all your addons (screenshot the directory or the addons page - if you have auctioneer installed you can get a list from !swatter) and I'll try to find which one is causing the problem... |

Version 0.93 uploaded and awaiting approval.
The main change here is that I've changed the Menu>>Interface/Addons screen (/ow) to show what O-Wheely! actaully does for your specific class. I hope that makes the addon a bit easier for people to understand Other changes are Fixed an issue when cancelling situational self-buffs - in that they weren't being 'forgotten'. Added DeathKnight 'Bone Shield' to Situational Buffs (just to keep them busy until I've played some more!) FAO Vesuuvius: I've disabled the 'Reset to Defaults' function which will hopefully fix your 'disappearing presets' problem... |

Re: Re: Presets keep wiping
As strange as this is going to sound.....
From the previous problem, I advanced to a completely blank configuration frame. no text, no dropdowns, no anything. No matter if it was enabled with or without any other addons at all. So I did a fresh install after deleting saved variables. Now I have a working addon. We'll see if it survives contact with the enemy. As a side note, I noticed you changed the actual download URL of this addon. I was probably downloading stale versions from the old URL. WUU (http://wuu.vagabonds.info/menu.php) is a great updater, but only if you are smart enough to check the address bar. (9499-O-Wheely-BuffsandMacrosonyourMousewheel vs. 9499-O-Wheely-EmpowerYourMousewheel)

Re: Re: Re: Presets keep wiping
WUU is quite nice in some ways - but it does have it's flaws in that it relies on things which aren't going to remain 'stable' - such as addon 'extended' names With Pre-Release addons - or 'branches' for ACE stuff - users really should seek out the addons manually - if nothing else they get to find out what has changed... Auto-updating is for stable addons where the only changes are library updates or minor fixes |

Version 0.94 uploaded and awaiting approval.
Most of the changes in this release relate to making the code less reliant on globals - this means I've changed a lot of code so if anything seems wrong or you see any errors, do post them here plz - thx... I've also changed how O-Wheely! binds the mousewheel so that it won't remove/replace any existing mousewheel bindings you may have (it just replaces them as long as it's loaded). Existing users may wish to reinstate such bindings (Shift+Mousewheel to ActionBar Paging, Ctrl+Mousewheel to the vehicle interface in WOTLK etc.) ofc. You can now (/ow) select whether SHIFT/CTRL/ALT+Mousewheel should be bound to O-Wheely! (by default they are NOT) - this is mainly to stop clashes with the vehicle controls on WOTLK but it makes O-Wheely! more flexible too. These modifier options and the 'Disable RightMouseButton Camera Zoom' option are now remembered account-wide rather than 'per character'. Paladins: I've changed your spells for WOTLK to recognise 'Hand of' spells as being separate to 'Blessing of' spells and I've adjusted your spells to reflect the reduced ranks available. I've also fixed a long-standing problem checking talents when buffing Shamans/Druids (giving a 'string compared to number' error before). I've tracked a few other errors down too - one relating to 'deferred' buffs (those which failed) which could cause a "concatenating nil" error and a rare bug which could cause the macros you defined for MouseWheelUp/Down to be blanked-out SHOULD be gone now - let me know if this EVER happens again plz Getting closer to 1.0 - hope you're still finding it useful |

Re: Re: Re: Re: Presets keep wiping
To your credit, I consider this addon stable. Smartbuff was gone after the first day. Keep it up!

I really really really like this addon. Much more simpler then using the alternatives. Thanks for the great work you've put into it =)
1) Is it able to remember recasting inner fire or fear ward. 2) ...... I think adding this into O-Wheely will just make sore even higher then its competitors ;p. Let me know your response.
