Warning
if you depend on item scaling and spacing between items do not upgrade and use version 3.6a instead, this update is not necessary if the previous version (3.6a) is working fine on your computer.

Installation

You install this AddOn like any other, just unpack the downloaded zip into your /Interface/AddOns folder.

Summary
Hello and welcome back to another helpful AddOn which will improves your daily shopping-adventures with merchants.

Okay what did this AddOn do to your merchantframe ? It replaces the paged item display with a scrollable and more informative list which can also be filtered by available item types. It use the same purchase protection like the default merchantframe when buying an item which requires honor-,arena-points or specific items.

Features

  • Filter: you can filter items from a vendor out. You can setup a filter to show only trainable, usable, purchasable items or just items from a specific type (or subtype)
  • Searchcraft: you can search item descriptions for certain a or multiple (seperated by an colon ;) keywords and filter those out which does not include your keywords
  • Scrollable List: you can now scroll through the merchant shop instead of the paged view
  • Autorepair: as a request you can now check a button on a merchant frame to enable autorepair.

Unhappy Purchasing Problems

I really liked this add-on, but, after days of thinking something was wrong with vendors, I decided to disable this add-on; and What do you Know, I can once again purchase items that require Badge of Justice, or Halaa Research Tokens. So, sadly, I have had to disable yet another innovative add-on.

LOL! I see your point! ;-) Maybe I have a look at the Lua code and scale it up myself. No problem there.

But despite my wish, keep up coming with such good ideas. ImprovedMerchant is very innovative, and there are not that many merchant addons out there as there are "square minimap" thingies which nobody needs for the tenth of times!

And: yes, it hurts a lot! LOL!

If you buy items that is in limited stock, it still shows as available until you close the merchant window and reopen it.

It has problems with addons that make the windows movable like NDragIt.

When moving the window, the last sold item slot does not follow the window.

I really like the look of this, but... one request if I may?

I have sight problems, so the default Blizzard handling of money isn't for me. I actually wrote a mod, named Coins2Txt (it's up here on WoWI) which makes the MoneyFrame more clear and readable to me. The only problem I have with ImprovedMerchant is that it doesn't seem to use the default MoneyFrame, and due to that Coins2Txt won't work with it.

I understand that you might hve your own reasons for implementing your own MoneyFrame, so if using the default MoneyFrame is impossible then I have a feature request: Could the mod itself support different money displays (such as 1g 1s 1c and 1 1 1, similar to Coins2Txt)? I understand that you might not want to put that in your mod either, and if you don't, that's perfectly okay.

I definitly like the idea of ImprovedMerchant!

The only thing I do not really like is the scaling down of the item-icons. In a high resolution environment they become hard to recognize sometimes. These icons are scaled down, aren't they?

Would it be possible to arrange the merchantitems in a way where you have the originally sized icon on the left? This of course would make less items visible at a time, but it would be a little more pleasing at least for my eye!

This appearance should be choosable by option of course for all others, who like the current appearance more! ;-)
