cargExplorer  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 2.1.6 r313
by: Cargor [More]

You are a world explorer who tries do get the achievement of the same name? Or you just want to reveal the whole map? Then this addon may helps you. cargExplorer displays a small info text next to the WorldMap-close button which gives the percentage of your discovered areas. If you don't have all parts of the selected map discovered, the 10 zones with the most missing parts are shown in the tooltip.

Based on Achievements
While previous versions counted the map overlays to fetch the data, WotLK versions get their information from the achievements-UI.
If you don't have the achievement for the selected zone, the tooltip will give you information on which zones / areas are missing.

Due to the changes, the now obsolete Auto-Scan button was removed and you don't need to click all zones manually - It just works!
It should work properly will all map modifying addons as well as map revealing ones.

It comes also with a LibDataBroker-1.0 data object, so that you can integrate it in your favourite LDB display addon.

Planned Features:
- Clicking on the text will open the appropriate achievements window

Unfortunately, 2.1.1 is what I had from the start. Maybe that bug's not all the way patched. Thanks for your work, though!

Well, it should change with the zone you've selected - but I'll try to reproduce the problem.

EDIT: This was a bug in the version 2.1 - Try to update the addon to 2.1.1 (You can check the addon's version in cargExplorer.toc in the addon's folder). If the problem still persists, please write so. I've tested support with Mapster and it works without any problems.

What in the crap am I doing wrong? I'm using cargExplorer and Mapster with 3.0.2, but the only tooltip I see is

"Discovered 1/4
Eastern Kingdoms 20
Kalimdor 18
Northrend 9"

No matter where I'm zoomed to. How do I get like the screenshot has of showing the inidividual areas in a zone that I'm missing?

Something is strange in Bloodmyst

And i don't believe its the fault of this mod.

I went here with 2 undiscovered places left:

'the hidden reef' ~[30,15] northwest of murlocs

As the person before me had found. At this point i had No fog at all on the map.
When i found The hidden reef , Bloodcurse Isle went foggy. I have already been there before though , so i am going back there now to see what happens.

Edit:

I went to Bloodcurse Isle , and fog is still there , no discovery. Then i went to the other place , and when i found that reef , i got 100% So now i have Kalimdor 100% discovered , but fog over Bloodcurse Isle. 8) Gonna check it in PTR and then do a /bug on it.

Thanks, but I think I've found the problem - The default tooltip was hidden when the world map was shown (When I disabled all my addons, I got the problem, too).
I'm just wondering why anyone before hasn't discovered the problem - do all of you use a map addon?

The new update should fix it.

I'd be glad to help suss it out in any way I can. I didn't see anyone else having the problem, so I figure it's something in my configuration rather than your program.

I love the idea of this plug in, but I'm having a problem.

Even disabling all other addons, I still can't get the tooltip to pop up. So all I get is the percentage, even when zoomed into a region (like Lakeshire). Am I doing something wrong?

Yeah, Cartographer3 creates its own map instead of reusing the default worldmap-frame, so cargExplorer can't be integrated well in it.

I can take a look into it and maybe come up with another solution to make it work with Cartographer3, but don't expect too much.
I think, using the LDB plugin for display is the best solution, but there's the problem of navigating through the zones for changing cargExplorer's display without the worldmap being at the moment impossible.

CargExplorer doesn't work with Cartographer3. I'm looking forward to being able to use the WotLK version via its LDB plugin

Glad you've found it
Some zones are really difficult to see (although they're not invisible, otherwise cargExplorer couldn't find them) - I for myself discovered a few other areas after the first release of the mod, too.

The newest version (only for WotLK) based on achievements is more accurate and tells you exactly which areas are missing. Including missing sub zones' names in TBC-WoW would require a lot of additional data to include - but since WotLK is just around the corner I'm concentrating on the beta version.

testing with other map mods (eg mozzfullworldmap) I have no red zones left on bloodmyst isle. (disabled all map mods but mozz to test this)

disable mozz, enable carto+cargexplorer and:
bloodmyst isle has zero fog left, however shows as 96% (1 missing) from complete for the zone.

I noticed that although there was no section visible on the map highlighted, I was able to discover 'the bloodcursed reef' east of wyrmscar island - which increased the discovered % - is there a similar unmarked section that I need to discover? is it possible to get the name of the 'sub-zone' missing?

otherwise, omg I love this addon entertained me all night going around finishing off my map

Thanks for providing feedback and helping me out
I think the addon grabs the zone info automatically (but doesn't display it) - you should find the data in your char's SavedVariables-folder.

It's not hosted on curse or wowace - don't know if I'll ever upload it to them. (I prefer hosting addons only on one site, because it's easier to maintain)

Yeah, enGB/enUS shouldn't make a difference (My enGB-Client's GetLocale() even returns enUS! ). Babble was integrated for locales like deDE or frFR - the zone and continent ID's are ordered alphabetically which makes it difficult to share data across locales without using translations.
---
Arrr, I want to have my beta key :/ - I want to start exploring Northrend!

EDIT: I think I'll rewrite the addon with WotLK completely, hooking into the Achievements display to fetch the data of explored / unexplored areas.

BTW I use it on enUS and it works.

iirc babble is coded so that enUS == enGB

I know Ace2 and Ace3 Local are the same as well.
