Ackis Recipe List  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 7.2.0.2
by: Torhal, Ackis, Resa1983

Ackis Recipe List is an AddOn which will scan your trade skill recipes and print out a list of which recipes you are currently missing. It will work for all tradeskills.

Profession AddOns:
Due to the increasing data size and memory usage with each WoW expansion, the professions have been split into their own AddOns; you need only download the ones you'll be using. Each installed and enabled profession AddOn will load whenever it's first accessed by the ARL core.

Example: Quest, Seasonal, and Vendor (not Trainer) recipes show Horde NPCs for my Alliance characters, and vice-versa.
Ahh ok... well it has a few different "features". For trainers, it ignores opposite faction regardless of settings. For all others it should ignore opposite faction based on your settings. I still think I'm a bit confused on this however.

If you have both factions set to be shown, you shouldn't see opposite factions in your tooltips for trainers. However, you would see them for quests, etc... all the rest.

If you have only your faction set to be shown, you shouldn't see opposite factions in your tooltips at all.

Is this the behaviour that you're seeing?

But you already knew that, because as response to my earlier post you had a comment:
As a preference, I would have faction filtering determine whether or not opposing faction NPCs show at all - regardless of recipe source. I can understand the opposing preference, however. I will open a 'suggestion' ticket instead of a defect ticket on this, and perhaps other users will vote on the ticket with their preference.
Please do. I think what you're getting at is having another option which determines if you show the opposite factions acquire methods regardless of filter settings. This may work out nicely, however there will be some special cases where the recipe is ONLY from that faction.

Relating to small fonts and bad aliasing in the tips:
I took a very close look at my own setup, and have found a solution for my own configuration. But first, I need to underscore (for everyone interested in this issue) that apparent font size is determined not just by font size settings in WoW and within various addon configuration options, but also by UI scaling, addon-specific frame scaling, monitor size, eyeballs, etc. Therefore, my solution may not be a very good one for everyone. With that said, I did a full-text search for 'font' and found line 619 in ARLframe.lua:
Code:
        local fontsize = 11
I changed the value to 12 and saw improvement, as apparently that setting is somehow tied to the bits of text in the tips that appear smallest (e.g. the 'bind on equip' text and vendor name/location information).

So... what would I change? Perhaps I would have the tip text font size settings exposed within the ARL configuration panel for users to set themselves. While the tooltip scale option is available (good), that setting increases the size of the entire tip and tip text - and you can end up with HUGE tip titles to go along with the increased detail data (bad). I can open a suggestion ticket for this as well, but I am not 100% certain I've missed something - so wouldn't mind reading your input on this first.
Good idea. I know it's a short response for a long post, but I don't see anything against it. More customization is a good thing. Can you please make a ticket also for this?

Finally, about TomTom integration, you made the point that I should pay attention to the options descriptions:

I looked for readme files and in-game /arl documentation text. Where are these option descriptions or docs? I don't want to miss anything.
It's only identified in the change log, and on the options in the main ARL configuration window. I suppose I should write something up about it as well.

The only other thing I can thing of is a suggestion to perhaps place the button for clearing ARL waypoints right in the recipe list window rather than buried at the bottom of ARL's option menu.

Thanks again!
I don't think I'd do the click on a vendor to add that waypoint, however it's a suggestion. Feel free to ticket it.

Regarding the clearing the waypoints, that's something I've considered myself. I don't want to add another "button" to the whole interface... what about alt-clicking the scan button? That should work better IMO.

No, it's not what I've observed. However, since no one else is reporting this, I'll dig a bit before I enter a ticket on it.

I was somewhat having the same problem as well, until I read the full tooltip when hovering over a recipe. Apparently if you Ctrl-Shift-Click on a single recipe it will add the waypoints to all vendors for that recipe (I wish it was just the single vendor I'm clicking on, not all of them though). Because most of my tooltips are having issues with overlapping/going out of the box/taking up half my screen I didn't notice it at first. Thank you Ackis for posting all those on the page now.

Speaking of tooltips. I have a slight problem. The recipes that are found by transmutes are taking up just about my entire screen: See Screenshot here. Considering I have a 17" widescreen that's not a small feat.

I'll also often get the dual tooltips overlapping one another so I can't read anything. See Screenshot here

Changing the tooltip scale doesn't really help in either matter. I can somewhat move things around so they don't overlap the list itself, but it's hard to make them not overlap eachother when they get that big.

Yah I've noticed how those go all whacky and stuff. It's my intention to try and split them up/force word wrapping, however I'm not 100% how to do that just yet.

Regarding the ctrl-shift-clicking on a specific vendor, it would require a lot of work to do that, work that I don't have time for right now.

No worries then. I can always manually enter it, or add them all and remove the ones not nearby. No biggie. ARL has come a long way since you first released it, can't really complain at all. ^_^

Yah that's why I'm not too "concerned" with it because you can manually do it w/ TomTom very easily.

Fixed this with the latest release.

Also about to add in font size customization!

That is actually a really great idea and much better than having to constantly dig down to the bottom of the ARL configuration menu.

As for clicking on a single vendor in the list and getting only a single waypoint added to the map/minimap, it is probably less of an issue for those who actually use TomTom. I use Carbonite which is able to emulate TomTom. Unlike TomTom, Carbonite draws a line of animated arrows between your current location, required connection points (boats, gryphons, city entrances, etc) and the actual waypoint. This is why adding waypoints for every vendor and recipe in the list was so bad. It made for an unreadable mess of animated arrows which in turn killed the framerate (9 fps in my case and I have a decent PC). Just adding in the option that you did helped immensely so I wouldn't worry too much if adding in even more granularity would require too much work. I (and hopefully many others) appreciate the work you've already done and I thank you again.

yano, I left ARL alone for a day, and about 25 commits were made - I never got the chance to even enter the tickets - but I'm definitely not complaining.

Thanks again.

Interface

Is there a reason why the interface menu gets wider when I have this addon running? I had all addons disabled but this one and the interface menu looked like THIS...... http://i399.photobucket.com/albums/p...109_135238.jpg
