More Information
More detailed information about Armory can be found on the project site. Here you can also access the localization tab which provides an interface to make things easier on translators. Additional software, like ArmoryGuildRecipes, its XML exporter and a Joomla! web site plug-in, as well as a tool to merge databases from different accounts can be found on the Neighbours Guild Website.
Bug Reports and Feature Requests
The comments are not meant to be used for reporting bugs and feature requests. Especially long stack dumps will clutter up the comments section and make it hard to follow. This may result in your post being unnoticed. Also you have no idea what happened with your post and you will not be able to track its status. The best thing to do in this case is file a ticket.
Filing a ticket is not hard but you need a Curse account. Please read How to file tickets before posting.
Coffee
If you like to express your appreciation for the effort that has been put into Armory (and keep me awake to be able to maintain it), press the donate button and buy me a cup of coffee. For those interested: I drink black, extra dark roast. And here you can read how it all started.
Links
  • ElvUI skin for Armory

Word of Thanks
First of all to you! For using Armory and keeping me inspired by providing positive feedback. And you! Who made a donation so I can keep my subscription active (I hardly play WoW anymore). And you! Who translated Armory to make it easier for non-English speaking players. And finally the members of the Neighbours guild (Pluis!) and others who helped me test the alpha builds.

You getting a warning is not a bug, it is a feature The API doesn't return all profession data all the time. Armory detects that now and warns you about it so you are at least aware that the data stored is incomplete.
I'm thinking about scanning twice: once when you open and once when you close. The data is stored when closing (if you didn't change the config setting), so this might be a work-around.
I need to find the time to start coding again first.

*Edit* I found some time There is a new alpha build available on http://wow.curseforge.com/addons/armory/files/.
I'll give the new build a whirld. What was happening was I had to open and close the profession data twice no matter what each time I viewed a different profession. So I'd have to open/close my tailoring window twice, and if I then viewed my engineering prof window, I'd have to open/close it twice too. Then if I went back to tailoring, even if it was right after the engineering looksee, same deal - had to do it twice. I got warnings on all first close attempts even if I let the window sit there for ten minutes.

It wasn't gamebreaking, but a bit on the annoying side.

Yep, the current version that you recently updated here indeed warns me again. Thanks
Looks like there's still a slight issue with the warnings. I can repeat, with 100% success, a bug with the Warnings for profession windows. Here's the steps to reproduce the bug:

1) Open any profession window and close it using the X button at its corner (like Armory expects you to do). You will get a warning that the profession data was not saved even if you leave the window open for several minutes.

2) Reopen the same profession window and close it again. No warning this time.

3) Open any different profession window and close it properly. You'll get another warning about data not being saved.

4) Open the profession window from step #3 again and close it. No warning.

5) Open any profession window other than the one in step #3 and #4. You'll get the warning again.

6) Open the profession window in step #5. No warning.

See the pattern here? Every single time a different profession window is opened, it guarantees a warning is generated. Open the same profession window more than once (but prior to opening any new different profession's window) and you'll never get another warning.

I found this gem when I was searching my characters' professions for transmog items.

Thought so, well I need to take a look at your data file indeed. I'll send you a PM with details.

*Edit* You need to disable the realm and faction filter to see all your toons. Alternatively use /ar delete char <name> <realm>

Re: Re: Mail warning for nonexistent characters

Sorry, just remembered to check in...

The killer is that the toon doesn't show up in the Armory list (either by hovering over the minimap button, or clicking on the button and selecting from the character list), hence my question. Where is the data file you're interested in and how can I get it to you?

Armory can't tell if a toon has been deleted or not, you'll have to do that manually. There are several ways of doing that (see project link under 'More information'). Right-clicking its portrait icon in Armory is one of them.

If the toon in question can't be selected in Armory I'm really interested in your data file.

I didn't notice that myself. I'll have to look into it.

*Edit* I can't reproduce this. What happens if you only enable Armory and disable all other add-ons?

Mail warning for nonexistent characters

Hi, a while back I made a temporary toon to help guildies out on some achievements. He was promptly deleted. Now Armory is telling me he hasn't checked mail in a month. I DO like this feature and I want to keep it enabled to remind me to check mail on all my other toons, but how do I delete this guy from Armory's list? He doesn't show up in the list of toons so I don't know how to get rid of him.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance!

Mouseoever issues

I notice with 4.3 (I started with previous version) that the popup for items in my bank or bags will quickly disappear if I just slightly move the cursor. The cursor will still be well within the icon for the particular item, but the mouseover popup disappears. It will initiate if I move the cursor outside the icon, and then back onto the icon, but the mouse cannot move at all once it has activated the popup, or it will disappear.

Only occurs with Armory. Does not occur with Armory disabled.

Sorry if I seemed like a pain in the rear. I've been able to live with Armory and whatever methods I've used so far, so even if I can't get every last detail "just the way I want it" or how it "used to be", big deal. I still enjoy having Armory as one of my addons and its nice inventory view is really nice.

Or it'll "forget" reagents required. Like when I look at my warrior's BS profession to see the mats for the Eternal Belt Buckle, it'll show the saronite bars and only one or two of the three eternal elements required to make it.
Blizzard has changed some things in the mean time and the calls to API methods just don't return the data all the time. I'm currently working on finding a workaround.
Edit: The current alpha build (see curseforge) will warn if professions are not fully scanned.

And wasn't 'character profiler' an add-on used to collect data for uploading to guild roster websites or something like that?
You're right. I meant to say CharactersViewer, which had Character Profiler as a dependency. D'oh.

Outfitter had the overlapping tooltip until I disabled its own tooltips (it's a known conflict with EquipCompare, which makes tooltips always visible for comparison instead of having to do it WoW's built in way). I'll try disabling Armory's tooltips and see if that works. Who knows, doing that just may give me the best I can get with Armory installed.

I'll continue mucking around until I find a satisfactory setup (well, one closest to how I want it). Even if I can't get any better than the way I've been doing it so far, that isn't reason enough to get rid of Armory. I just like it too much.

It isn't game breaking, but it does have me wondering if it isn't a good idea to just purge the database and log in to each character freshly every couple of months.

Yeah, well, English is not my native language, so sorry about that, but you are correct: Armory does not have a command line option to select a specific character.

Armory has no option to automatically display these. It's like pressing Shift.

Outfitter has an option to not use its own comparison tooltips but instead allow EquipCompare (and other addons like it) to use their own tooltips. Armory has no such option.
Probably another add-on is interfering here. Can you check with only Armory enabled? If I remember correctly there is an option in Armory to disable its comparison tooltips.

When I look at your screen shot I don't see Armory tooltips by the way. At the AH WoW will automatically show comparison tooltips with a top line that says 'currently equipped'. Armory's top line would have been 'character realm'. Also when you look at some equipment tooltip and you press Shift WoW will show 'currently equipped' and if you press Alt Armory will show 'character realm'. If you see something else it is likely that another add-on is showing the tooltip.

And wasn't 'character profiler' an add-on used to collect data for uploading to guild roster websites or something like that?
