OnScreenHealth  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 5.3.0.1
by: Dridzt, Phanx

OnScreenHealth

OnScreenHealth provides simple text displays of health and power for you, your vehicle, your pet, and your target.

It additionally shows your combat state, combo points on your target, your target’s target’s name, and your class’s secondary resource (such as Holy Power).

Type “/osh” to open the options panel, or browse to it in the standard Interface Options window.

Not completed

  • Localization (you can help by visiting the link and submitting translations for your language)
Changes
  • WoW API updates for MoP (GetSpecialization etc)
  • Support for all secondary resources.
combo points, runes, chi, eclipse, holy power, shadow orbs, soul shards|burning embers|demonic fury
  • Support for ClassColors.
  • Switch from event based processing to update based processing, with adjustable throttle.
Some optimization pending but (a) with Blizzard's move to predictive hp / power updates,
events don't fire half as often as needed for smooth updates (b) some resources don't fire UNIT_POWER
or other power related events at all (eclipse, soul shards|embers|fury, shadow orbs etc)

No, but if you don't want to see the auctioneer, you could tell it to hide the target display while you're resting (eg. in an inn or major city).

Is there a way

Is there a way to make it only show up for aggro mobs?

IE: no need to show Auctioneer Jackson's health etc

and it would be nice if the chat wasn't so spammy with code

@moerscho, this probably fixes your issue. At least, health is updating correctly for me in 49-beta, and I didn't feel like reverting my local copy to see what the problem was with the previous version. Let me know if you're still not seeing updates.

Hello Phanx,

just tried version 3.3.3.47-beta and it seems like the health values only seem to update once when entering and exiting combat, not while or out of combat.

/osh appearance textFormat health player $p%
/osh appearance textFormat health target $p%

The problem with the command you're entering is that you're not reading what the addon is telling you about how to use the command. The above commands in bold type correctly changed the text format on both player and target displays to a percent format. You were missing the "player" or "target" part; if you'd read what was printed to the chat frame when you entered your command, you would have been able to figure this out on your own.

/osh position y -100

The above command correctly moved the text below the vertical center of the screen.

If either of the above commands do not work for you, there is not really anything else I can do to help you without more information, which you can collect by running through the troubleshooting procedures outlined on my portal:

http://www.wowinterface.com/portal.p...224&pageid=162

Specifically, steps 3 and onward are relevant in your case.

You already can. Change the Y offset to a negative value.

As for the centering, while your character's model is centered on the screen, most character models do not stand straight along their own center axis; they slouch or lean off to one side or the other, and shift around as they move. OnScreenHealth is aligned along the center axis as defined by the UI, and there is no way (short of adding a manual adjustment option, which I do not plan to do) to align it along the apparent visual center of your character model, as addons have no access to the 3D world.

I have no plans to add party support to OnScreenHealth, and can't really see why that would be useful.

If you're a healer, you need easy access to real party frames, and it simply wouldn't be efficient in any way to monitor your party members using OnScreenHealth but constantly be shifting your attention to the real party frames to heal, dispel, etc.

If you're not a healer, then it's not generally critical to know your party members' health, and such functionality doesn't fit into the intended scope of OnScreenHealth.
I tried inputting a negative value, it didn't work. Also the slash command to make it a percentage doesn't work. I told you the command I entered hoping to get a reply on if it was wrong or not.

/osh appearance textFormat power $p

I don't see what is wrong with the slash command I entered.

Thanks for the reply.

Re: Re: Updates

All I want is a few different things from this addon. I want to be able to have my mana show as a percentage, and I want the frame to go to the middle of my screen below my character. I can't make the frame move downwards, and x:0 is still slightly left of my character.

I typed in the command to show my mana as a percent, it said it was invalid? did I do something wrong?

/osh appearance textFormat power $p

Also it would be great if you could monitor your party members health with this addon. This addon is so amazing at seeing things at a glance, which is PERFECT for arena play, just wish the maker of this addon put more time and options into it.

Re: Updates

Is there a need to update? I use the addon on both of my tank characters, and have not seen any issues with its functionality.

Both of the additions you mentioned are outside the scope of OnScreenHealth. It is not, and will never be, a complete replacement for your unit frames. It is intended to be a minimal display of critical information that can be placed in a convenient location without obstructing your view of the game world. Raid icons are not critical information, any more than your target's name is; I assume you already know what you are targetting when you're looking at OnScreenHealth's target display. Similarly, if seeing the health and power of your focus is critical at any given time, the same unit is probably also your current target.

As for a conversion away from Ace2, I simply don't have time right now to spend on changing something that isn't broken and doesn't impact actual functionality in any way. Do you really need to change the settings so often that using slash commands (or Niagara) is such an imposition?

Updates

Phanx, you have any plans to update this? I think it is the only addon I'm still using that uses Ace2 and needs niagara for an options panel. A couple of things I would like too see added:

1. Focus health and power
2. Raid icons for focus and target

Any way, hoping to see some updates, love this HUD type addon cause it's so much lighter than other ones.

The displays are intentionally "stuck in the middle". There is no way to independently move them.
