Comix  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 7.2.0.1
by: Darool [More]

This is the continuation of Comix.

Main updates are taking place on curse.com as there i earn at least some money to create this (it takes a lot of time to adjust things for addons).

Thanks to Si63 for letting me continue it.

if you have any bug reports or feature requests please post them here in the ticket system. Comix is a plain Fun Addon. It's sole purpose is to keep you entertained. It doesn't do anything useful but the EntertainYourFaceOff™ technology contained in the package is sure to keep you amused for hours, and you won't even know why

In plain english: It shows a Image and plays a sound when you crit. These Images and Sounds are done in Comic Style. but it can do so much more....

Features:

cool stuff happens on Crits (heals and damage) plays fancy sounds plays sounds ripped from other things keeps track of up to 2 useless statistics now includes a bad joke detector an awesome objection system a drama button for the unnecessary drama in the game (all drama - its a game people :P) now incorporates the Supermassive Fail mod for all the times when saying fail on its own just doesn't cut it (try using /awesome instead of /fail sometime too you'll be glad you did :P) and more.....

A note on /fail and /awesome:

/fail and /awesome are both used like this example:

/awesome say this is ~ (double )

this will make you say (in say) this is [Pure Awesome]

the ~ (double ) marks where you want the supermassive fail or the pure awesome to go

valid choices for where to send the message are: say, emote, yell, party, guild, officer, raid, rw (for raid warning), bg (for battleground), afk or dnd

______

GFX: Venomia, Maidokilla SFX: Random things found on the net :P support us! GUI: Turaka ( previously Si, Florix) Coding: Turaka (previously Si, Zabuza and Maidokilla)

PS: The Way i loaded 'images' and 'sounds' is somehow copied from the Author of the addon Critman. I really liked the way he did that cause ppl can modify Images and Sounds easy this way. the new flash gfx were ripped from the mod Instabolt, which i think ripped them from somewhere else so no hard feelings

I have just one minor gripe, but when the screen shakes after a huge crit, the screen doesn't always go back to where it belongs. My UI elements are all still in their places, but the game screen is off center, leaving this black border, usually around the top and right sides of the screen. Logging out and back in again usually fixes it, but it's just a tad annoying when it happens.

Patch 3.2

Critical heals won't work anymore with patch 3.2 correctly. It's seems that the parameter in COMBAT_LOG_EVENT_UNFILTERED have changed. Comix checks the 14th arg for crit check. But accoording to wowwiki.com the parameter has moved to arg 15.

if arg2 == "SPELL_HEAL" then
--DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("Spell heal firing arg15 = "..tostring(arg15));
if arg15 == 1 then
--DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("should be a crit...");
if math.random(1,100) <= Comix_CritPercent then
Hopefully this helps - I've it successfully tested with mine version.

I love this addon !

Mira.

Back!

after a longer than anticipated absence, I'm back and ready to work on Comix again.

I have set up the donation page for anyone who would like to lend their support, donations are not expected, but greatly appreciated.

I'm still always on the lookout for new things to put into Comix, if you have a great idea, send me a pm or leave a feature request

Re: Suggestion

You might have seen/read the anime/manga that gave rise to the meme "It's over 9000!" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vq5csKvXCT4). I though it would be cool if the addon could check when the players attack power went above 9000, if possible. Playing dk and having lucky proccs puts me close to 9000, (I know rogues and hunters can make ~10k).

thats a cool idea, i'll look into it

Sometime around 3.0 Blizz changed the checkbox templates so all addons that inherited from them ended up with "huge" looking checkboxes and labels.

Change line 18 of your Comix_options.xml where you define your checkbox template to inherit from "OptionsSmallCheckButtonTemplate" vs OptionsCheckButtonTemplate as it is now.

This will restore the options appearance to pre-3.0 look.
I hadnt actually noticed the difference, lol

but now that you pointed it out, i see what you mean

i was listening to some soundboards, I lost the url since I had to forcefully restart, but there were some interesting sounds I thought might work.

Was thinking maybe the sounds of bones breaking or something like that might be interesting.

Ah the site was http://www.soundboard.com/ I listened to quite a few from the "Games" section and thought a few could work. Duke Nukem is always a fav of mine, but some people don't like him.

Community participation!!

Calling all Comix users

I'm adding a new feature into comix that will make use of the overkill value on damage, heres how its going to work

If your killing blow has an overkill value higher than a certain percentage of the total damage done on the killing blow then this will trigger

heres the kicker - I need ideas on sounds to tie to this, i currently have one (the overkill voice sound effect from halo 3 which ive made a bit deeper), i need more suggestions for sounds to add to this as it could fire kinda frequently for some people and having a single sound would get kinda annoying (i know it would annoy me)

if you got some ideas, post a link to the sound effect here, if you cant do that and its relatively easy to obtain just post that instead, links to sounds are preferred though
