This is the long awaited update to TBag that fixes a number of bugs.
TBag is a WoW Addon that provides an alternative bag and bank interface. It was built by modifying Engbags an addon who has essnetially the same functionality is missing some of the features of TBag.
Talos the original author of Tbag his this to say about it when he released it:
"In addition to the auto-sorting you've come to know and love, I've added many new features, including searching for items (in mail, etc.) You can also see and use the original default UI bags, which have slots free overlaid on top of them. There are also many convenience features, like highlighting new items, colored spotlighting, and purchase bank bags without having to unload the addon. A visual edit mode allows you to rearrange categories to your taste, and an advanced customization window enables you to completely configure every aspect of TBag."
This is a modification of his 070123 release for WoW 2.0.3. The modifications were done by Shefki. See the Changelog file for details of the changes I made. The ToDo.txt file consists of ToDo items that were found in the original TBag release. Some of them are not terribly relevent to my my intentions, some I'm unclear on what he meant and others seem to have already been fixed. See my Todo List below.
Getting Started
TBag can only "see" something you've seen, so for every character:
1) Open your bags 2) Go to the bank 3) Check your mail 4) View your body 5) Open all your trade windows
This allows you to view the bag and bank contents of your characters at any time (sorted according to their trade skills) by clicking the name dropdown in the upper right. It also enables you to do a full item search from the search textbox just to the left of the name dropdown.

I can't seem to be able to open my bags while in combat, is there some blizzard reason for this I don't know of yet or I had a bug?
great mod anyway, good job |

Suggestions...
I have been using TBag for over a year now & its great as I play dual-screen with the rendered area on the left and the map/bag/questlog/chat on the right screen.
Not sure if your open to suggestions, but here are some I thought of as optional settings...
Thanks for the continued development of this great addon that I always recommend to my friends & guildies. |

New Developments
Blizzard responded to me and gave me the response I was looking for. I will be resuming work on TBag.

I'm not going to say they will or will not try/win. The policy states that the addon authors can distribute code however they see fit, but the addon ability in World of Warcraft is property of blizzard. You may develop it any way you want, as long as you aren't asking for money or trying to sell something that they allow you to make and use. And if you don't ask for money or try to sell the addon anyways, why would you care? It's not your fight to fight if you do it for free anyways. ANd I'd hate to see this addon die because it is really great and I don't want to have to learn XML and Lua to take it over and keep it functional if it comes to the point where u are done 100% working on addons.

I also find the wording of the policy with the "formal legal action" bit and the lack of a response to our issues with the policy (not even an acknowledgment that they realize some authors don't like it) to be extremely disrespectful towards the author community. A community that has spent a great deal of time making their game better. Activity that most of us never asked for compensation for. So I've also lost a lot of respect for Blizzard over this and at this point I don't really want to help them anymore.

Consider for a moment if you wrote a program with Microsoft's Visual studio or some other person's IDE. Do you really think they can claim ownership of your program? NO they can't and that's exactly the same thing. No program written with visual studio can run without using Microsoft's API (just like you are using Blizzard's API). Thats like saying any program I write that runs under windows Microsoft own's and can charge me for. Guess what they don't and they can't (although some dipstick on that thread claimed that making games for windows required a license, he was wrong). I do write programs for windows so I am familiar with what I can and can't do with code. Anyhow I hope you do continue on and don't let Blizzard scare you away, it would be a loss for the players and Blizzard would not even blink (or notice).

You can read a post a while back that goes into a fair amount of detail on my reasoning here: http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...&pageNo=19#366 and http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/th...&pageNo=20#392 |

edit-- Of course now I see your comment about no longer working on the project. That seems a bit drastic but I have not read this new rules only heard they no longer allow people to ask for donations (which seems unenforceable other than banning accounts I suppose..). I hope you will reconsider this is defiantly a nice mod and a shame to lose. edit 2 -- And beating a dead horse here.. what language were you reading about derivative works and being worried your using someone elses code would get you in trouble with Blizzard (or anyone)? I just read the policy over twice and didn't read any of that into it, in fact it seems more like they want the code open and modifiable by anyone. They even allow for donations still just not asking for it in game or requiring a charge (I only know of 1 or 2 addons that make you pay right now). I am curious to know because I was looking at working on some mods myself.

It has been 3 weeks since the new UI Addon Development Policy was posted. Since then I've done no work on my addons. I have done this because I strongly disagree with the new policy.
While I agree with Blizzard having absolute control over their game and what goes on inside it. The policy dictates the terms under which I can distribute my addons. While I've always given away my addons, never asked for donations and honestly never planned to. I do believe that control of the distribution of my work is a right given exclusively to me (and the other authors) of my copyrighted work. Additionally, if Blizzard believes that my addons are derivative works (as it seems they do) it leaves them in very legal limbo situation. As it stands now I was never able to get get in contact with Talos and get permission to continue TBag. I have no idea what permission was or was not given with respective to the fork of EngBags. This has been very much a legal limbo situation from the beginning. However, the possibility of additional rights assertions from Blizzard makes the situation too risky to continue. As a result I will no longer be updating TBag-Shefki. I will not be pulling the addon from distribution, simply because I believe that it should continue to be available to the original authors from whom the work is derived. The good news is that TBag will work just fine with 3.1, with only one small issue that may actually get fixed on Blizzard's end before 3.1 actually ships. Probably the most notable problems will be simply new items will not added to the sorts or existing sorting rules updated to deal with changes to the game. I wish things could go back the way they were. But without a clarification or changes to the policy from Blizzard, I feel unable to continue to work on this addon. |

nice mod, 2 questions is there a way to make the bags list left to right instead of right to left? I have 1 bar per line and would prefer if they "grew" to the right.
Also and most annoying is why does the bag window not auto close when you exit from a vendor window? If there is an option for this I can't find it. Please fix this I hate having to close 2 windows. Otherwise this addon rocks. |
