TomTom  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v80200-1.0.5
by: Cladhaire, Ludovicus

TomTom is your personal navigation assistant in World of Warcraft. This addon is very simple, but provides a nice set of functionality. Thanks to Esamynn for Astrolabe, which does the bulk of the work in this addon.

TomTom offers the following major features:

  • Set waypoints via command, or by clicking on the world map
  • A draggable coordinate display with customizable accuracy. This frame can be hidden or locked.
  • Player and cursor coordinates on the World Map (these can be hidden)
  • A floating "crazy-taxi" style arrow that points you to your destination
  • Displaying the "crazy-taxi" arrow or coordinate block in compatible LDB displays (such as NinjaPanel)
  • Show a waypoint that points you towards your corpse for easy recovery
  • Can set waypoints by clicking on quest objective POIs on the World Map and watch frame.
[*]Can automatically set waypoints to your closest quest objective
Please also check out LightHeaded: http://www.wowinterface.com/download...ghtHeaded.html
Slash Commands:
/tomtom - Opens configuration GUI

In addition you can use the /way command to add and reset waypoints. In order to overcome conflicts with the Cartographer /way command, you can also use /tway to access TomTom's waypoint command. The following slash commands are available:

Add a new waypoint at 14.78, 23.90:
Code:
/way 14.78 23.90
Add a new waypoint in Nagrand at 45, 50:
Code:
/way Nagrand 45 50
Add a new waypoint with a description:
Code:
/way 14.78 23.90 This is a waypoint!
Remove ALL current waypoints:
Code:
/way reset all
Remove all waypoints in Nagrand:
Code:
/way reset Nagrand
Set a waypoint at the current location:
Code:
/wayb
or
Code:
/wayback
Set the waypoint arrow to the closest arrow in the current zone:
Code:
/cway
or
Code:
/closestway
When you set a waypoint, a dot will appear (green) on your minimap. When it goes out of range of the minimap display, it will turn into an arrow, just like the default UI. You can mouse over these waypoints to get detailed information about that waypoint.

TomTom has been designed to publish the Crazy-Arrow and Coordinate Block as LDB feeds, allowing them to be displayed in compatible display addons. I've written a very simple, easy-to-configure panel that is capable of displaying these called NinjaPanel.

If you're looking to bulk import waypoints (to track achievements, etc), a community member has provided a great addon that lets you do this easily. Take a look at Paste.

Okay, we're gonna have to do some serious troubleshooting to figure that out. I'll see what I can do to get some code written that will help us out.

have you made any progress with the arrow model issue? Or have you given up on that?

(would it be hard to replace the arrow model with a dot and just have it be more transparent to indicate the waypoint is outside the current minimap area?.. or if not transparent, perhaps a different color)
Which "Arrow model" issue? There have been a number of them reported, which one are you referring to?

The quest giver coordinate would be awesome, if you have time to implement it. The ideal case would be that when I accept the new Quest, TomTom would mark both the quest giver location, and if I have lightheaded (or manually found coordinates), I can draw waypoints right away.

On a side note, a map addon that I use called "MetaMap" also provides a waypoint system. I create a node using MapNote (on the large map), and enable waypoint to that node, and it will give me a red arrow (on screen) pointing to the destination. The arrow changes direction based on where I'm facing, and the coordinates and the distance changes as I approach the node. There is also a dot on the minimap.
Well, you listed about 13 diferent things. I already provide the minimap arrow, I'm considering the crazy-taxi style arrow, and not sure what I'm doing about being able to save waypoints, etc. Time is waning.

Is this something we might see in TomTom and/or Lightheaded?
Not Lightheaded.. my mods will always be focused to solve a particular problem.

Again, I've been enjoying your mods since Clique and PerfectRaid. Keep up the good work!
Thank you kindly.

Don't.. ALL DoubleWide does is make the quest log twice as wide, giving you more room to view quest details and expanding the list. Adding something like this to such a simple addon would be a tragedy.

I don't know how many other addons do it, but when I used Quest_Fu, it showed me the coordinates for the quest givers, making it easy for turn ins.

Iriel also wrote a Quest log enchancer called "DoubleWide", which I enjoy a lot, but it didn't have the quest giver coordinates either.

Maybe I should ask Iriel, too.

But if you can add it to your addons, and/or suggest another addon that does it, that would be greatly apprciated.

Regards.

Not a huge deal since this is just a boundary case anyway but: Using /way reset when no waypoints are set causes an error.

Interface\Addons\Tomtom\Tomtom.lua:443:
attempt to get the length of a nil value: 'w_points' (a nil value)

I don't mess with Cart, and no one really has complained before.

TomTom frame obscuring backpack frames

Hi Claidhaire,

Is there any way to set it so that TomTom is the backmost frame? Or at least behind the Backpack frames? I like to position the TomTom frame just below the minimap. Unfortunately when I open my backpacks, it obscures a good chunk of the 3rd backpack which makes clicking on a couple of those items a real pain.

Thx for this mod! Best map coord mod I've found so far.

Yeah, I know of the issues, and its a model specifically with the model I'm using for the minimap arrow. I'm trying to track it down. Thanksl

I've seen two other people have this issue, but I can't reproduce it, so figuring out how to fix it has been extremely difficult. I'll do what I can to get to the bottom of it.
