TomTom  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v80205-1.0.7
by: Cladhaire, Ludovicus

TomTom is your personal navigation assistant in World of Warcraft. This addon is very simple, but provides a nice set of functionality. Thanks to Esamynn for Astrolabe, which does the bulk of the work in this addon.

TomTom offers the following major features:

  • Set waypoints via command, or by clicking on the world map
  • A draggable coordinate display with customizable accuracy. This frame can be hidden or locked.
  • Player and cursor coordinates on the World Map (these can be hidden)
  • A floating "crazy-taxi" style arrow that points you to your destination
  • Displaying the "crazy-taxi" arrow or coordinate block in compatible LDB displays (such as NinjaPanel)
  • Show a waypoint that points you towards your corpse for easy recovery
  • Can set waypoints by clicking on quest objective POIs on the World Map and watch frame.
[*]Can automatically set waypoints to your closest quest objective
Please also check out LightHeaded: http://www.wowinterface.com/download...ghtHeaded.html
Slash Commands:
/tomtom - Opens configuration GUI

In addition you can use the /way command to add and reset waypoints. In order to overcome conflicts with the Cartographer /way command, you can also use /tway to access TomTom's waypoint command. The following slash commands are available:

Add a new waypoint at 14.78, 23.90:
Code:
/way 14.78 23.90
Add a new waypoint in Nagrand at 45, 50:
Code:
/way Nagrand 45 50
Add a new waypoint with a description:
Code:
/way 14.78 23.90 This is a waypoint!
Remove ALL current waypoints:
Code:
/way reset all
Remove all waypoints in Nagrand:
Code:
/way reset Nagrand
Set a waypoint at the current location:
Code:
/wayb
or
Code:
/wayback
Set the waypoint arrow to the closest arrow in the current zone:
Code:
/cway
or
Code:
/closestway
When you set a waypoint, a dot will appear (green) on your minimap. When it goes out of range of the minimap display, it will turn into an arrow, just like the default UI. You can mouse over these waypoints to get detailed information about that waypoint.

TomTom has been designed to publish the Crazy-Arrow and Coordinate Block as LDB feeds, allowing them to be displayed in compatible display addons. I've written a very simple, easy-to-configure panel that is capable of displaying these called NinjaPanel.

If you're looking to bulk import waypoints (to track achievements, etc), a community member has provided a great addon that lets you do this easily. Take a look at Paste.

It's fairly easy to write a timer that calls /cway every few seconds.
Though, frankly, I don't see much of a use for such an addon.
If you just want to switch to any closest waypoint, make sure you have options allowing for waypoints from other zones.

Re: Re: Re: WQ still not working.

Is there a way to continuously get the crazy arrow to always point to the closest waypoint and not just when a waypoint is added? DraenorTreasures, an addon made by TOM_RUS, does this but he has his own arrow which reuires deadly boss mods.

Well I'm trying to get information about what is broken and what fix is doing what. It's hard with a bunch of different links and I could use some assistance sorting it out. What did you revert to and what did it fix?
I was able to fix this using the following code.

Lua Code:
  1. local completed, x, y = nil, nil, nil;
  2.     local title = "";
  3.
  4.     if self.worldQuest then
  5.         QuestPOIUpdateIcons()
  6.
  7.         title = select(4, GetTaskInfo(self.questID));
  8.         x, y = C_TaskQuest.GetQuestLocation(self.questID)
  9.
  10.         if not x or not y then
  11.             -- No coordinate information for this quest/objective
  12.             local header = "|cFF33FF99TomTom|r"
  13.             print(L["%s: No coordinate information found for '%s' at this map level"]:format(header, title))
  14.             return
  15.         end
  16.     else
  17.         local questIndex = self.quest and self.quest.questLogIndex
  18.         if not questIndex and self.questID then
  19.             -- Lookup the questIndex for the given questID
  20.             for idx = 1, GetNumQuestLogEntries(), 1 do
  21.                 local qid = getQIDFromIndex(idx)
  22.                 if qid == self.questID then
  23.                     questIndex = idx
  24.                 end
  25.             end
  26.         end
  27.
  28.         if not questIndex and self.index then
  29.             questIndex = GetQuestIndexForWatch(self.index)
  30.         end
  31.
  32.         QuestPOIUpdateIcons()
  33.
  34.         title = GetQuestLogTitle(questIndex)
  35.         local qid = getQIDFromIndex(questIndex)
  36.         completed, x, y = QuestPOIGetIconInfo(qid)
  37.         if completed then
  38.             title = "Turn in: " .. title
  39.         end
  40.
  41.         if not x or not y then
  42.             -- No coordinate information for this quest/objective
  43.             local header = "|cFF33FF99TomTom|r"
  44.             print(L["%s: No coordinate information found for '%s' at this map level"]:format(header, title))
  45.             return
  46.         end
  47.     end

I'm far from a coder, more of a hacker who can follow directions.
I can't see a way of linking to specific forum posts here so I'll supply a quote of LaoTseu's comment explaining what didn't work and why so you don't have to go back through.

I did a quick hack of poi_OnClick in TomTom_POIIntegration.lua that fixed it for me. Didn't have time to do proper testing so be warned.

Edit: there was a problem with my hack. Here's a new one that works better.
Hack available here: http://pastebin.com/LK9fTQXf

Edit no 2: my code was not working when there was multiple floors (like in Dalaran). Here's a new PasteBin that solve this.

Hope that helps.

Smile Is there a way to save groups of waypoints for later

Hi there, loving the addon so far .

I was wondering though - is there a way (or a addon that works with TomTom) to save groups of waypoints so that I can reuse them as needed. For example, I have put all the way point in for the void talon spawn locations as I want to check them daily. At the moment I need to repaste them every time. Is there a way I could paste them once and then save it as a group called 'void talon' - kind of like a favourite locations on your GPS

many thanks in advance - and fingers crossed!

(I have also posted this on curseforge as I am not sure which you are more active on)

Instead of demanding an addon author provide you updates to a free WoW mod, perhaps you should check your entitlement?

@LaoTseu has provided you a way you can make it work until @Cladhaire finds the time to update his mods, this isn't the only one which isn't up to his usual standards.
So you don't know how to use the pastebin data, this is where you make a choice. You either deal with the mod how it is or you learn something new and apply the provided patch yourself.
You don't have to be a rocket scientist or game programmer/developer to do this, you just need to engage your brain. If we were all programmers we wouldn't need this patch, we probably wouldn't need the addon in the first place as we'd have just made it ourselves. You need to be a lot more careful with your typos though, while a human can, hopefully, decode your typo the computer won't. It will just give you an error.

So read what LaoTseu wrote.
I'll break it down for you.
I did a quick hack of poi_OnClick in TomTom_POIIntegration.lua that fixed it for me.
So this tells you the file which needs editing is TomTom_POIIntegration.lua which you'll find in your TomTom addon folder.
Open it in a text editor, I suggest getting a decent text editor first. Many, many, many people use NotePad++ as it's brilliant, free (which should appeal to you) and supports .lua format, meaning it will make the file easier to read as it colours different parts of the file.

Now you've got it open search for poi_OnClick in it. You'll find something which looks like what is in that pastebin link. In fact the first line from pastebin is exactly the same as the first match when you search.

So now you just replace that section of the file with the code LaoTseu provided you.

I guess I better give you some tips on how to find the end of the section. If you didn't install Notepad++ you'll find this much harder.

At the very start of the local function poi_OnClick(self, button) line, in the border, there is a line number and a plus sign +. Click the plus sign, that collapses the poi_OnClick function. Note what the next line number is after it, now click the minus sign (which the plus symbol changed to) - and expand the section. Highlight all of the text in that function, replace it with the code from pastebin.
Technically you don't need to expand it and copy/paste it that way, you could just do it while it's collapsed. I just thought you might learn more that way. Also you'll be able to see what you're highlighting which might help.
Save the file and log into WoW.

Thanks LaoTseu.
The code you changed is beyond my abilities but I can use my brain and work out how to implement the patch you provided.

OK the patebin hack is fine and dandy...But dude????WTF do I do with it? Would you mind at all to explain to the general group of people that are not rocket scientists how to incorporate this hack to the lua. file? Please do not naturally assume that everyone is a game programmer or developer. Thank you.

World Quests???? Please Help!!!!!

Why do you not fix TomTom Crazy Arrow to be compatible with World Quests? This is such an awesome addon and the idea that it dose not work with the legion World Quests dose not make sense. When i try to use the right click on the map POI or even on the quest title in my objective window the most it will do is set the arrow to some other quest in my log. The only way to get it to work with the World Quest is to alt. right click on the world map just next to the world quest POI. This is not ergonomically efficient at all. Plus setting the Crazy Arrow in this matter makes the destination off mark by sometimes an extreme distance that it is almost pointless to take the time and effort to do it. Is there anyway you could fix this? Or is there a patch that will help this out? Please let me know. Thank you.

I installed the one on curse and it seems to be working, this one is not working i believe.
That doesn't make any sense, what version are you looking at on curse?

I am also experiencing a couple of issues:

1) When control clicking a quest:
"Message: Interface\AddOns\TomTom\TomTom_POIIntegration.lua:186: Usage: GetQuestLogTitle(index)
Time: 02/03/17 07:27:21
Count: 1
Stack: [C]: in function `GetQuestLogTitle'
Interface\AddOns\TomTom\TomTom_POIIntegration.lua:186: in function <Interface\AddOns\TomTom\TomTom_POIIntegration.lua:146>
Interface\AddOns\TomTom\TomTom_POIIntegration.lua:230: in function <Interface\AddOns\TomTom\TomTom_POIIntegration.lua:229>
[C]: ?

Locals: (*temporary) = nil"

2) The arrow is never shown.

I am currently using Goldpaw's UI. I have turned the UI off with only Tomtom running and the behavior is the same.

Sorry.
