TomTom is your personal navigation assistant in World of Warcraft. This addon is very simple, but provides a nice set of functionality. Thanks to Esamynn for Astrolabe, which does the bulk of the work in this addon.
TomTom offers the following major features:
/way 14.78 23.90
/way Nagrand 45 50
/way 14.78 23.90 This is a waypoint!
/way reset all
/way reset Nagrand
/wayb Here
/wayback
/cway
/closestway

Re: Re: Compatability with other Minimap addons
See, two addons are not likely to conflict with name/description and coordinates. Thus, it falls on the addon that SETS the waypoints to know whether or not it needs to set the waypoint. I'll consider adding it, since I suppose it could be useful, but I feel the way tihs should be tracked is by your addon when it sets waypoints.

I'm not able to get the quest objectives integration to work. Alt + Right-clicking on the quests in the tracker just gives me an option from the default UI to reorganize the questframe. What am i doing wrong?

Public function - waypoints exists ?
Hello.
I am using your public function AddZWaypoint in my addon. I use this at various times to automatically set a point (i.e. rare detected, etc.). My problem is I have various methods of detection (cache, nameplates, target, etc.) and when my function triggers I could end up with 3 or 4 waypoints for the same mob (in slightly different areas). For example, a waypoint is created when it is detected in the cache, then another is created if I target it or mouseover the nameplate. Is there a public function that can be used to check if a waypoint already exists ? Something that I can pass my name to and it return true or false ? I would like to create just a single point. Thanks for your time. UPDATE. I added my own function to the addon. I'm just starting out so the code may not be 100% correct, but it is working. I see in your code you are using this : Code:
if data.title == desc and data.coord == coord then I added this to TomTom.lua : Code:
function TomTom:WaypointExists(c, z, x, y, desc) local coord = self:GetCoord(x / 100, y / 100) local zone = self:GetMapFile(c, z) if not zone then return end if waypoints[zone] then for uid in pairs(waypoints[zone]) do local data = waypoints[uid] if data.title == desc then return true else return false end end end end Code:
if not TomTom:WaypointExists(c, z, px, py, title) then local uid = TomTom:AddZWaypoint(c, z, (px*100), (py*100), title) end

Patch 3.3 - Quest Proximity
Hi,
Patch 3.3 has a new feature that let us sort the quests based on their proximity. I was wondering if you can create a way to make TomTom automatically create waypoints to the nearest quest. Thanks! |

Re: Compatability with other Minimap addons
Cladhaire --
FYI... I had a user trying to use the nUI_InfoPanel_Minimap plugin together with TomTom and they had a problem with the waypoint arrow because the info panel plugin allows the minimap to be hidden at any time in which case the compass ring does not update. I tried to implement your GetPlayerBearing() method as per this earlier post. However, that did not work. I'm curious, however, why not just use GetPlayerFacing() in TomTom? ( http://wowprogramming.com/docs/api/GetPlayerFacing ) I created the following and it appears to "work" with TomTom just fine... Code:
function GetPlayerBearing() return GetPlayerFacing(); end Regards!

When I create a TomTom waypoint, it's usually for long distance flights, so I know I'm going the right direction and how long it will take me to get there. I frequently tab out to the internet (or whatever) while in flight, since it's boring.
An immensely useful feature for me would be to have a sound go off when I've reached within X yards (say 10 or so) of a waypoint currently being tracked with an arrow. Is this something you'd have any interest at all in adding? |

The addon recently stopped working for me. I had upgraded to Windows 7, so I'm not sure if this was what caused it, but after removing security settings from my Blizzard folder, deleting Tomtom and reinstalling it, I now have coordinates and waypoints back. Hope this helps someone.

Set way point disapears
I use the command
/way <coords> Place It sets the way point. While I do have option to save between sessions, It disappears when I pass over the way point. I do not want it to disappear. I have every option selected which implies to keep way points but it still disappears. |
