TomTom is your personal navigation assistant in World of Warcraft. This addon is very simple, but provides a nice set of functionality. Thanks to Esamynn for Astrolabe, which does the bulk of the work in this addon.
TomTom offers the following major features:
/way 14.78 23.90
/way Nagrand 45 50
/way 14.78 23.90 This is a waypoint!
/way reset all
/way reset Nagrand
/wayb Here
/wayback
/cway
/closestway

Cartographer integration question
So, these will show up as map notes in Cartographer? Currently I find the coords in Lightheaded, then type "/note xx,xx QuestMob", find the note in Cartographer, change the icon for my needs, and set it as my waypoint. So this just eliminates the need for the /note part?

Re: Re: Cartographer integration question
I don't know if it's TomTom or Lightheaded, so I posted on both. I'd like to request an option to disable the chat output. In other words, I want to turn off the chat saying "Lightheaded: Added xx,yy to map" and "You have arrived at coordinates xx,yy" and "Loading: LightHeaded_A20_Data". Stuff like that is what I'd like to disable seeing in the chat window. Although I can see how it's useful to some, to others (like me) it's just unneeded chat text. Thanks! |

Re: Re: Re: Re: Cartographer integration question
Hello Cladhaire,
to me, TomTom is also the perfect companion to Cartographer. I just have three little issues: + Sometimes the green map dot is not drawn, i can just see it on my (Simple-)Minimap then. + I can't rightclick the green map dot (if it's drawn at all, see before) on the main map. + I can rightclick the green map dot on my minimap, though the tooltip very often renders out of screen I'm using latest Cartographer from wowace, waypoints module disabled (if i don't, tomtom is the one which gets virtually disabled - but i don't need cartographer waypoint module anyway, now i have tomtom ). Still, great addon! Thank you so much!

notes vs waypoints
Is there anyway to build in an option to set up a map note instead of a waypoint? This specificly for interface with Lightheaded. I like the functionality but I hate it when I map out a bunch of cords that there are a ton of arrows all over my minimap and I would like to leave the notes so other toons can use them when I come back to the zone at a later date.

Cladhaire,
Superb work!! I love to follow the lore when I encounter a quest for the first time, but going back on an alt to do the same quest is no time to have to re-read the whole thing to remember what to do - this combined with Lightheaded has made my quests move in and out of my log very rapidly (which in turn increases my $/hr too!)!!!! Occasionally when I'm headed to a waypoint for a quest (Q1 we'll call it), I happen upon another waypoint closer than the one arrowed on my HUD (Q2), so I complete that quest. However, after I complete Q1 (the quest that I was orignally headed for), the arrow now sends me back to the coords of Q2. This is no BIG deal as I will just right click the arrow and remove the waypoint, therefore moving on to the next waypoint I've set. Also, many times the coords given on wowhead are *close but no cigar* - so after I complete the quest and the arrow is still there, I just right click and remove that waypoint. However, the minimap waypoints do not get removed when i remove the arrow waypoints. In short time I have a semicircle of solid arrows surrounding my character on my minimap! LOL! I'm curious if of the following features having the possibility of implementation: 1) Removal of minimap waypoints when you remove the arrow waypoint (if that option is enabled). 2) Ability to set the arrows to display in the order of closest to farthest from your current position. Or even better yet (and more logical perhaps) - have the waypoints set up in order of map coords to take you clockwise around the zone map. I can explain my thoughts here further if they are not clear. 3) Just a second person to bump the idea of tying this in with a mapnotes addon for permi waypoints for alts and such (like Cartographer). DROOOL! 4) Option to increase the area of effect when the waypoint turns itself off. Currently I have to be exactly on top on the location to get the arrow/mm waypoint to remove itself and I would like the option (or default) to be a bit bigger (say within 20 yards or something). 5) Specified color of MM waypoint arrows. The waypoints themselves are greenish, could the arrows that appear on the MM when your too far away also be of a greenish tint? I have other arrows up there as well usually (party members, town locations, my dead rotting corpse) that all have some color variation between them to aide me in visually determining what is what with only a glance to my MM. 6) Option for the size of the MM arrow? Okay, I'm stretching now... Sheesh. I want a lot! But they are all simply suggestions, and I will definitely continue to use TomTom (hopefully no copywrite infringement here) regardless of these being implemented. /cheer

I think just about everything you're questioning comes down to
Also, in the absense of colors, is there something that can be done to "plan a route"? An indicator of which points are closer than others? (Something that would be really cool, and will probably never happen, is if it actually comes up with on-screen arrows that direct you to follow the WoW roads closest to your destination. Make Left onto Gold Road, etc. ;-) ) Something else I noticed - if you click on a Coords set from Lightheaded, they immediately go onto a TomTom waypoint in your current zone. So, for example, if you have a Thousand Needles quest to go see something in Swamp of Sorrows, if you click the SoS coords, you get a waypoint in 1KN. And if you're not paying attention, you're sorely disappointed when you arrive at your destination! ;-) Is there something between Lightheaded and TomTom that could tell what zone the quest is expected to be completed in, to place the correct waypoint? |

Thinking long-term.. if WowHead were to add a field like "Quest Zone" to the quest metadata, is this something you'd hypothetically be able to pick up and use? |

tomtom://cont,zone,x,y,start text, end text Then it would put it where you need it to be, tell you start text whe you set the waypoint, and end text when you arrive.
