LootCount v1.20 (Changes since v1.16)
[added] Quest-item watch
[fix] Bug when setting plugin watch on plugin
[added] New plugin: Profession watch
[added] Spacers (check key bindings)

New in this release
- Quest-items
Read the section "Quest-items" below.

- Spacers
This is an empty slot that will not display anything, and it is to be used as a spacer between items if you feel like being tidy.
Spacers should be assigned to a shortcut key in the WoW keybindings for quick access. It is also accessible with the command "/lc div". When the available spaces becomes visible, just click where you want the spacers just as you would with a normal item.

- Plugin: Profession
This plugin is explained in the plugin-section below.

First-time install
LootCount is not visible the first time you install it. Show/hide LootCount by typing "/lc". This can also be assigned to a key in the native WoW key-binding options. LootCount will appear in the middle of your screen as an empty green frame. This frame can be moved by dragging it by the corners (and ONLY the corners). Place it somewhere and drop an item on it.

Adding more items
Drag a new item to the LootCount interface, and drop it on any of the newly created slots. Ot you can drop it on an existing item.

Removing item-watches
Double-click an item with the right mouse-button.

Accessing the menu
Right-click an edge of the center frame (not a corner), and the menu will appear.

Group/raid
If you are in a group with someone that also have LootCount, you can watch items as a total. The most common use for this feature is to grind rep-items together with a friend. Both can then drop the rep-item on LootCount, and you will then read a shared total for this item. Now - if you in addition to this want to monitor your items only, you can drop the same item one more time and switch on local-mode for that item-watch.
You can switch this off from the menu.

Usable items
If you place a usable item in LootCount, it will be displayed with a green border and will be activated by a single click. This is a handy space-saver for motes and certain enchanting reagents.

Quest-items
These are items needed to complete a quest that you are on. So, if you don't have any items for any of your quests, this watch will display a questionmark. Just select it from the menu, and click the slot where you want it. You can place as many as you want, as they will always display different items.

Goals
Right-click an item in the LootCount interface, and select "Set goal". Enter the number of items you need and press OK. The watch will now contain two numbers: One for the amount you have, and one for the number of items you still need.

Local-mode
If you for a single watch want it to count only items that you have on your current character, you may want to switch on local-mode. This would for example make sense with soulbound loot. Just right-click the watch and select "local".

Lock
To lock LootCount, open the menu and select "Lock". This will disable moving of the interface and deletion of watches. You will notice the center frame turns red when it is locked.

Layouts
Each character has its own layout. There are also two global layouts available from the LootCount menu. These are common for all characters within a server and faction. Upon selecting a global layout, the center frame turns blue.

Plug-ins
Plug-ins are selectable from the LootCount menu.
A few plug-ins comes bundled with LootCount:
- Repair
- Reputation kill-countdown
- Experience kill-countdown
- Profession level
Any plug-in can be individually switched on/off from the addon-menu at the character selection screen in WoW to conserve memory.

Bundled plug-ins:
- Repair
This plugin will show what the current cost for repair is, and the lowest durability of your worn items.

- Profession
This plugin can monitor your current level in a profession. It is made very simple (for my own use mostly), and will need to see a profession level-up message before it knows about your profession. A profession is selected by right-clicking the watch.

- Kill-countdown with XP and reputation
Ever wondered how many kills you need to level up, or how many kills you need to get to the next reputation level? If you have, LootCount will tell you. Just select the option (REP and/or XP) you need from the LootCount menu and click one of the empty slots that just appeared. If you chose XP, that is all there is to it. If you chose REP you will also need to select the faction you want to watch. You do this by opening the WoW reputation window (shortcut "U"), click the faction you want to watch, check the "View as experience bar" option.
The counter icon will contain two numbers. The bottom-right number will show an estimate based on the last mobs you have been killing, and the upper left will show you how many of the last mob you killed you will need to get to the next level.
If you choose to switch zone or mob-type, LootCount will adapt and tweak the estimate within a number of kills.

Special thanks to:
Faladrin for the initial code and idea for goal-functionality.
Belleboom for group/raid idea.

Just a quick note that my wife and I are both very interested in a LC that doesn't auto-arrange. I have written a mod myself and know what a PITB it can be to maintain sometimes, but I really appreciate your work, and hope you can sit down and find some time to hammer it out.

Thank you!

The problem with just turning the compacting off is that the update-code assumes that the layout is compacted when updating each icon. That means that when LootCount looks through each item, it will search in any direction until there's no more icons. So in effect - any icon that have a "hole" between it and the center will not be updated. With that said - if the rows that comes off your center spine is in the right direction in each quadrant of LootCount's interface, they will in fact update correctly. I don't remember the directions at the moment, sorry.
I do not mean that it's impossible to make, but it will require a rewrite that will be quite some work. I know several people wants this, but it will take some time and testing so I just don't have time to make the update-code "hole-independent" right now. But it's not forgotten.

LootCount already support what you ask with regard to items you don't have. Press a link in chat to open the item description. Directly under the close-button in the appearing window you will find a button labeled "L". Press it, and LootCount will open empty slots for you. Now press an empty slot. That's all.
If you already have an addon that puts button(s) below the close-button in those windows, it is most likely hidden by those.

LootCount - no compacting mod

Hi!

Thanks for making LootCount, its great.

I've McGuyvered these features into my copy of LootCount, but the way I did it is kind of buggy--

1) Can we turn off Compacting? I just want the links to stay as they are, messy looking or not (to other people's eyes) *I have a fix for this below, but it's a cheesy substitute for good code.

2) And also, can we make it so LootCount supports the ability to have objects which I havent seen yet - like links in trade - is there a way to make it so that I could shift-click the name of an item into LootCount and have it in LootCount?

/// for compacting:

I wanted a version of LootCount that would try not to be compact - I have a series of things I run around and farm - and what worked best for me was to not have things all blobbed up, but instead to have a "spine" down the center, and long branches as rows coming off of it.

In my personal mod, I commented out -

-- LootCount_Arrange();

in

function LootCount_PlaceItem(button,itemID,tooltip)

in the file LootCount.lua

The results "work" but also "suck".

Re: Problem

Thank you for the help! I got it to work for me. I didn't realize that I needed to unlock the window before clicking. Doh!

Re: Problem

Due to changes made to the plug-in support where plug-ins now can receive mouse-clicks, the clearing of items has been moved to double-click with the right mouse-button. I do see that that function is somewhat unusual, but it was a trade-off needed to be done so plug-ins could receive all the other mouse-click combinations (single left and right click, and double left click).
If you are using the left mouse-button, a red frame should appear around the item you are double-clicking (only items, not plug-in icons) signifying that local-mode is active for that item.
If you are using the right mouse-button and it still does not work, I will have to take a look at the code for that.

Problem

I just downloaded your add-on a few days ago and it works great, but I have one problem. I can't clear any items from the LootCount windows. I tried clicking on the item, and I also tried double-clicking (following the instructions that pop up in the chat window upon loading), but no matter what I do the items will not clear. If you can help me with this I would appreciate it. Thanks!

True. The plug-ins can also be switched off from the addon-screen within WoW. This will bring LootCount back to a stage pretty similar to v0.90. Not the same of course, but it's not that much bigger. And the plug-in support is only like 70-80 lines of code. It's pretty small, so it wont affect you much at all. Also, LootCount v1.02 has less noticeable impact on your computer when the bags are updating.
And stuff like local settings for each item was really missing from earlier versions, I think. (Double-click an item)

Even while logged in? Wow
I must say I suspect some crash with another addon then. Considering how LootCount stores that data while running, I can't really see why that should happen - but you never know. Some addons do change a lot of internal stuff within WoW, but I find it strange that some addons would change it so much that it messes with basic functionality.
Anyway - if you have time, it's basically to go through your addons to try to find the one that messes it up - if any - by switching things on and off.
I'm sorry that I don't have any other clever answer for you now, but I have not heard about that problem before

Hi,

I deleted the lua for the two characters for which I was using LootCount, logged in, dragged an item over, set a goal for it, logged out, and immediately logged back in. The goal was gone. Oddly enough the goals have also disappeared a couple of times while I was logged in.

Thank you for the prompt answer, if it's not fixable, I'll just have to farm less stuff at once...

Hmm... Haven't had that reported from anyone else. Does it remember it if you put new stuff on the interface? Or make any changes to it at all? If it doesn't, it may be a problem with write-access to the savedvariables file. That has been seen a couple of times, and I do not know why that happens, but I do suspect it has been because sometimes people log in on different accounts on their computer.
With that said - No addons have control over saved variables as WoW is handling that automatically. The only thing I can tell you about that is that LootCount have two files for variables. One that is local for each character, and one global for all character. The goals are saved on a per-character basis. Try deleting the file which you will find in the directory:
World of Warcraft/WTF/Account/<login-name>/<Server-name>/<character-name>/SavedVariables/LootCount.lua
This should eliminate any problems WoW have with the file, if any. When you do this the contents of your LootCount for this character will disappear. So you may want to try a simple rename first.

Also - if you exit WoW with Alt+F4, addon data is not saved.

But try to rename or delete the file and see if it helps.

Goals disappear upon logout, is this a bug or intended behavior of LootCount? I enjoy the addon otherwise, but having to set the goals anew every time I login kinda ruins the use of this addon for me.

Typing "/lc" or "/lootcount" will only show/hide the addon. It should be empty with a fresh install, and will look like an empty square about the size of a regular icon. Drag an item from your bags and drop it on this square. Drag another item to the interface, and new buttons will appear. Drop it on one of those. And so on.

I downloaded your addon this morning and I'm having some trouble setting it up. Nothing happens when I type /lc or /lootcount and I can't find where on the interface the first box is. In the AddOns box, everything looks okay and the install went fine. Any ideas or maybe I'm just missing something?
