LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

LH on the quest details window

Hi, would it be possible to also add the LH window when the quest details window is displayed?

I am referring to the window that appears when you click on a questtitle in the new questtracker. It then shows a window which is basically only the text part of the normal quest interface (so without the list of quests) with abandon/share/track buttons.

Edit: Added screenshot

I never did try to use LH as a sort of QuestHelper Light. It serves a different purpose, thus it continues to be valuable after Blizzard has added their own QH Light. Thanks again, Cladhaire!

Oh is there a way of removing the nice effect when closing and opening it? I know you can disable the sound but I was hopping for something quicker... like instant so I can leave it closed when just checking quests and if I am stuck THEN quickly open it and close it again :-)

Thanks

Zas
I may add it in as an option, thanks for the suggestion.

Try /lh page. I think what you're experiencing is the delay when the comments are being loaded in. By toggling page mode, each post has its own page instead of all posts on one page. Much faster.

Re: Re: The comments section.

Thanks for the reply on the comments. With mapnotes just wanted to let you know in case someone comes yelling its not working anymore lol considering it does have certain issues with 3.3 but works for the most part.

Hey I was just wondering do you filter out the comments in your mod to show only the ones that are necessary. For example one quests first comment is from 2006 then it goes to 2007 then 2008 then 2009 back to 2007. Seems from looking through the notes they are just randomly tossed in by date so was just wondering. Thanks for the mod and update so far looking good.

They're sorted by rating. Anything below a certain threshold will not be shown.

Edit. Just a side note in case you did not know you might want to watch support for mapnotes. Telic has unfortunately left wow and is no longer updating his mods so if problems arise from your mod and Mapnotes it will not be fixed by Telic. He has offered that anyone can take over his mods so hopefully someone will take over Mapnotes at least.
Okay, I don't really support much/anything about it, but thanks for the heads up.

But again, what does this have to do with LightHeaded? LightHeaded gives you the comments and information for quests in your quest log, or those quests you search for by id or name. It doesn't ever give you a 'list of quests that x'. I could probably write a fairly simple addon that can use the LH information for those achievements, but I suspect someone will beat me there.
I understand, as I edited below, I hoped that since you already have the data for all or most of the quests it would be possible to list the quests not completed.

I'll keep a look out for any addons that come along that provide this info.

Ha, you are quick.

I play a DK so I've had to start the quests from scratch and its not always apparent where I left off and what quests I already did.

At times I'll waste time going back to a zone I did all the quests for.

It would also be possible to more easily find the quests I missed knowing the ones I already completed.

Blizz could help a lot by breaking out the Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms quests like they do for BC and newer content.

Thanks again.
