LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

Cannot view WowHead comments

When I try to get WoWHead comments on any quest, the chat log shows:

Loading LightHeaded_A20_Data

then LH fires two errors. Here is the text of the first:

I have reinstalled nQuestLog and LightHeaded but the problem persists.

I have updated all Ace Addons as well.

Any ideas?

Ill answer the things u asked before i hope it helps:

a.) Does it work with any quests at all, or is this only happening with a specific quest.
b.) If its a specific quest, what is the quest name, level, and faction (alliance or horde)
c.) Are you getting any Lua errors? Turn Lua errors on in Interface Options and see if you have any errors popping up.
d.) Did you follow the directions? You should have a total of eleven folders in your Wow/Interface/Addons directory, do you?

a.) its same with all quests
b.)
c.)Im using bugsack and i dont have any errors at all
d.)Installed properly and reinstalled twice

Ill be glad to help with other info, strange is that my alliance chars are ok but horde not.

I'm having the exact same issue - even with only Cartographer, Cartographer_Waypoints and Lightheaded loaded, LH waypoints don't show up in Cart. Instead I get a chat log message saying this version of Cartographer doesn't support them. I'm pretty sure I'm using the latest version, though.

Same problem here as TygerTyger.

What version of Cartographer and Cartographer_Waypoints are beeing used ?

Maybe make a link here on where to get them ?

Would be awsome

Cheers
I don't support those addons, but I understand the version on curse is out of date, and the one on files.wowace.com works correctly.

For people using Cartographer :
I always use the latest version of Cartographer and Cartographer_Waypoints and everything works. You can download it at http://files.wowace.com and for easy updates you can use WowAceUpdater at http://www.wowace.com/wiki/WowAceUpdater and if it still doesn't work, try using TomTom ...
The waypoints are really the best part of this addon I think, so I hope it will work !

@Redmercy :
I suppose it is the case but are you using the english version of Wow ? Because it doesn't work with the other localizations... When I tried with the French one everything was blank...

Btw, thank you very much Cladhaire for this wonderful addon !

This mod doesn't seem to be compatible with Extended Questlog available here: http://wowui.incgamers.com/ui.php?id=4188. LightHeaded simply doesn't show up anywhere, whether the frame is attached or detached. This is more of an informative notice than a complaint. Are there any mods similar to what I linked that work with LightHeaded? I know Bayi's version does, but that locks up WoW every time I use it.

More likely, the modules aren't loaded - as this is the exact behavior I am able to yield if I select a quest without one of the modules loaded from the char sel screen.
The average user does not need to be notified every single time a file is loaded. I may split them into two different options, but not right at the moment.

k, if you are like me and prefer notes to waypoints in cartographer, in the lightheaded.lua simply replace the 2 instances of :

if Cartographer_Waypoints and type(Cartographer_Waypoints.AddLHWaypoint) == "function" then
Cartographer_Waypoints:AddLHWaypoint(nil, nil, x, y, note)
elseif Cartographer_Waypoints then
self:Print("LightHeaded waypoints are not supported in this version of Cartographer_Waypoints.")
end

with:
if Cartographer_Notes then
zone = Cartographer:GetCurrentEnglishZoneName()
Cartographer_Notes:SetNote(zone, x/100, y/100, note, "LightHeaded")
end

If it would be possible to add this as a shift click or something, i would be very happy.

Perhaps altering it so that debug is ON by default? Perhaps let it be an opt out for users? It might save some headache on relaying the first step in helping you solve an issue rather than potentially not hearing from someone after they post (which I would imagine sucks to have happen, as an author).

More likely, the modules aren't loaded - as this is the exact behavior I am able to yield if I select a quest without one of the modules loaded from the char sel screen.

edit: well actually, it does show sometimes, if i type /lh page twice or once, until it makes everything show on 1 page, not multiple, then it does show the comments, but thats weird...i have to type /lh page to see the commends everytime?
No, it should just work. Disable all addons but LightHeaded and TomTom. Somethign else is clearly interfering. You also may want to run /lh debug to see if you're getting any load errors.
