LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

Does this mod allow for automatic quest tracking that is standard in Vanilla WoW or are you required to manually check each quest you want to track?

For all with problems with cartographer.

I use the Cargrapher from http://files.wowace.com

But when i try to use this feature of LH i get a "white noise" sqare for a second and no way point, but no one error message.

Then i try to make a waypoint with "/way 45 45" and it works. Then i make a waypoint clicking in LH and it works, and no more problems.

So if you get an error like me, just try to make first a waypoint with "/way X Y"

A greeting

It's not default in DoubleWide..
There are lots of addons that do that, this one is Gazmik Fizzwidget's Levelator, but CT_Core does it, along with others.

Clad, any thoughts on my previous post (feature request/suggestion) ?
Correct on your response.. I plan to get two things added in LH and TomTom:

In LightHeaded you'll be able to pull up a quest by qid or name/level. In TomTom you will be able to send all waypoints, or waypoints by zone to another player using TomTom. That's about the best I plan to offer at the moment, and I wouldn't expect either of those for a few weeks, since i'm on vacation/working on the book this week, and I'm driving cross country from NY to CA the following week.

TomTom adds waypoints, not LightHeaded. TomTom currently doesn't support saving waypoints from session to session, but I'd like to get it added.

Feel free to run through any troubleshooting steps you can think of to get me a minimal base case. Also, enable /lh debug to see what errors you gt there.

More food for thought.
I don't have anything to do with nQuestLog. If you can access the details correctly using the default quest log and LightHeaded, then I can't really help-- it's something that author will need to look at.

Possible new feature? It might help expand the audience by word of mouth and also go great with the planned "search" functionality.

My brother is 63 and I'm 70. We're playing together and leveling him up etc. but he keeps saying "OK we need to go to 70, 83 for so and so quest"

Now, LH is awesome and TomTom, etc. but it's kind of redundant to have to open the map, hoever my cursor around and find the spot, then remember it or /way 70 83 killin some shit if I want to be on the same page.

He now uses LH and TomTom as per my recommendation so I was thinking... would it be possible for him to have chat open, then "shift+click" on the location or quest name, etc. and have it link in the chat? This way, with LH installed, it would recognize it like a torrent link is on the intarweb (torrent://blblablalblala.awesome) (LH:whatever, locc, locz, locx, locy, desc) etc. This would be a great "coupled" feature with the searching ability as two users that use LightHeaded could now "cut out the middle man" of having to know the name and level of a quest (more likely EXACT name, etc.) and you might find people asking, "You have LH?" "Ok here's the quest link and loc for TT"

If I don't have LH installed, then it just shows up as the link to other users (the actual LH:whatever) or as just the name of the text.

Clicking on this "link" if it's a quest would open the relevant quest information panel in LightHeaded (open the log, etc.). Clicking on a location would either prompt the user to add it as a waypoint or (by turning this "prompt" off) automatically add it as a waypoint upon click.

This stems from wanting to be able to see his waypoints. Ideally, if two users have TomTom and LightHeaded (or just TomTom I suppose), they could both opt-into sharing of waypoints, etc. Whenever one user adds a waypoint, it appears automatically on the other user's screen, etc. This could be limited to party or raid, etc.

I know it might be a lot but do you think with a bit of TLC and time, it could be possible? IT might be the next evolution of the addon, imho.

THANKS CLAD! Hope the book is coming along nicely.

Cannot view WowHead comments

When I try to get WoWHead comments on any quest, the chat log shows:

Loading LightHeaded_A20_Data

then LH fires two errors. Here is the text of the first:

I have reinstalled nQuestLog and LightHeaded but the problem persists.

I have updated all Ace Addons as well.

Any ideas?
