LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

Not sure if this is a bug, intended or something with TomTom, but before the 2.4 update I could click on coords with lightheaded and tomtom will show the coords with the quest name, now all it shows is a number to me and not the quest name.

Not sure what I am doing wrong

I cannot get this to work.

When I hit L to bring up the Quest window it wont show up at all. I deleted nQuestlog as I am using Mazzle atm and updated Lightheaded. I like the new look and am hoping to be able to get it to work. I downloaded Doublewide and Lightheaded and now my Quest window wont show up at all no matter what I do.

Do you have any idea of what I can do to fix this?

Edit: Well, all of the addon sites seem to be incredibly bogged down right now after the patch. I'm not sure if I am double posting or not, but my first edit did not go through so I am going to try this again. I apologize if this is a double post.

I updated nQuestlog and was able to get it to work. I do not like how it looks with the new nQuestlog. I want mine to look like yours, only the problem is that with Mazzle it will not load standalone without nQuestlog. Any help would be appreciated.

Here is what I have done to try to get it to work without nQuestlog.

Deleted old Lightheaded folders
Installed New Lightheaded folders
Installed Doublewide
Deleted nQuestlog

Logged in and it would not load my Quest Journal at all.
Logged out, installed nQuestlog and it works normally.

Is there any way I can get this to work. a Quest log or something I can install that will make my setup look like yours? I like how yours looks way better than nQuestLogs.

Please let me know if you have any idea of how to fix this. Thanks

LightHeaded-215\LightHeaded.lua:70: bad argument #2 to 'format' (string expected, got nil)

Unfortunately, I have no idea when exactly that error appeared, nor what I was doing at that specific time.
I *think* I was clicking a quest from the quest tracker, but I'm not sure.

Thanks for your hard work on this addon, it's an invaluable tool and its upkeep is much appreciated

You are the only one who can answer that. In short, no. The memory is only initialized once and no real garbage is created after that point. That is just the cost of the quest data. Also, keep in mind that you'll always incur about 1/4 of that for any quest, since it has to load that portion of the data.

If you have concerns, and don't need the latest version of the quest comments, then you can revert to a pre-2.4 version. I'll be adding the LoD stuff back in later, but it really shouldn't cause much of a problem.

Was actually concerned about people either new to mods or not skilled with them trying to make sense of unzipping something that is packed differently than most all other mods out there, as shown with the help requests here recently.

LightHeaded needs to be used by more people . Standard procedures remove one hump in the way of that. As well as removing in-guild support issues when people ask guild "mod gurus" why this mod isn't working anymore.
Well, I'll just repeat again that the previous and current method is flawed.. You don't see it, but I have to.

This one was worse the frame was like all over the place and detached.
Yes, but you didn't just report the error, you made a snide remark at the same time. It wasn't helpful, constructive, or even nice. I have enough trouble keeping things updated for my users and taking time out of my day to code and get things prepared. The more crud that's thrown into the mix really disturbs things.

Thanks.
