LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

I don't use FuBar, so I can't be of much help. I don't understand why pressing "L" is so difficult =/. Alternatively, you should contact the author and get them to fix their stuff.

No, you can check the addon page to see the features. As for obtrusive.. try being an addon developer that has to content with Cartographer. It's a mess that's been all but abandoned, unfortunately.

One question. I notice you have a dislike for Cartographer. What do you suggest as a replacement map mod then?

I like Cart and how it removes the "non" map areas from the map, so you are only looking at the continent parts of the map. Lets me keep the map big, but still see whats going on behind the map.
Mapster does that, without being intrusive. Mapster does lots of the things Cartographer does without being intrusive.

Firstly. Wanna say thanks a ton for this mod. One of the few mods out there that I really find to be a "Must Have" mod.

Secondly. Seems to be a bug i've encountered.

Havent done any real testing to find the cause... But I use Fubar and QuestFu.

Lightheaded works fine if i open the Blizz quest log. But before 2.4 it would also open with QuestFu's quest log as well. However now when I open the quest I get this error:

LightHeaded-229\LightHeaded.lua:113: attempt to compare number with string

Just a lil heads up.. Dunno if its LH or QuestFu that is actually causing the bug.
This is an issue with QuestFu and it will need to be updated.

For the post below me:

Take a look at Mapster + TomTom to replace Cartographer. It's a great combination that I've been using for quite a while. If you are a gatherer, Gathermate works well.

I have tried Mapster+TomTom and yes, its very good although, as Gadzooks, I miss the ability to hide all the "non map parts" of the WorldMap Frame and I also miss the hotspot function of cart_Hotspot (and before cart, I used alphamap thats also has a hotspot ability).

If anyone knows how to implement (an addon, script....) the hotspot thing I think I can live with the "non map parts".

Oh, and tekmapEnhancer is also nice for people that doesn't want to try mapster but want to map WorldMap a little better looking

Keep up the good work, with this and TomTom as well. (Course the other mods you do).

And thank you again.
Thanks for the kind words. Please let me know if things get wonky. I get internet tomorrow, so I'll actually be around again!

New version has been uploaded that restores the LoD default for the addon. Obviously the addon only loads the data buckets that it needs in order to display the quest information.

There is no horde/alliance distinction, nor will there be again. There is too little to be gained, and much to be lost by spreading things out more than they already are. Even if I were to do this, each data addon would still take up 2 MiB or so, and you'd gain nothing from the change.

Also fixed the issue (hopefully) with NPC coords showing up in the wrong places.

First, let me say thank you for the mod. I love it as do the many I've passed the mod to for use. Keep up the good work.

Yes, I use Cartographer with your mod and before 2.4 without issue. However, since 2.4, there are no waypoint arrows. Perhpas I'm missing something in the configuration but was curious if you had a suggestion for this. I can get the arrow if I click on coordinates or do so within Cartographer for setting a waypoint. What I no longer have is any symbols for quests or the waypoints.

Thanks again.
You'll need to be more specific, I'm not understanding your problem. Also, you need to ensure you are using the up-to-date versions of the addons. What addons are involved? You really need to post more details.

Secondly, after handing in the quest the log updates inself but Lighthead still retains the information upon opening until you click on any other quest in your log.
What I was trying to say was the following:
open the quest log
hand in quest (music plays etc.)
quest is removed from log.
close log.
Accept new quest
open log
open lighthead (lighthead still shows quest information from previous handed in quest)
Click on new quest - previous quest info is removed.

Hope the above clarify's things better.
Thanks sounds like a bug that I'll look into!
