LightHeaded  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v100002-1.0.0-2022-12-15
by: Cladhaire [More]

Classic not updated at the moment, only retail.

LightHeaded is a very simple addon that displays quest information and comments from http://www.wowhead.com in game, eliminating the need to Alt-Tab when you get stuck on quest. This addon was inspired by qcomments and wowhead_quests, which both serve a similar purpose. Data is only loaded when you first request it, so you can be sure you're not using more memory than you need to.

I HIGHLY suggest using this addon with TomTom, another one of my addons (http://www.wowinterface.com/download...32-TomTom.html ). This allows you to simply click any coordinate in LightHeaded to add it to your map as a waypoint.

The following slash commands are valid:
  • /lh attach - Attaches the frame to the quest log
  • /lh detach - Detaches the frame, allows you to resize and move it
  • /lh sound - Toggles the open/close sound
  • /lh page - Toggles showing all comments on one page, or with multiple pages
  • /lh bgalpha <0.0-1.0> - Changes the alpha of the LH window background textures, so you can see the world.
  • /lh debug - Enables or disabled debug messages when loading quest databases
  • /lh config - Opens the LightHeaded configuration window
  • /lh autodetails - Toggle automatic opening of the Lightheaded window when clicking a quest in the objective tracker

LightHeaded now includes the English descriptions and introductory text for most of the quests in the game. This is disabled by default, but can be enabled for those players that are not playing in their native locale.

LightHeaded supports sending coordinates to TomTom, MapNotes, Cartographer2 and Cartographer3.

IMPORTANT: Addon authors that wish to use this API and data should
include the wowhead logo in the frame that displays this information.
They are kind enough to let me continue parsing their database, and we
owe them at least that much. Thank you.

Thanks for using my addons!

Updated 2022-12-15 for retail.

LightHeaded prints nothing unless you have debug messages enabled. This would involve you typing /lh debug. You can type it again to turn it off.

Just ignore it for right now. As soon as I'm done with a new comment parse i'll be removing that check. Hopefully Armory, QuestHelper and the other "problem" mods can get their acts together.

Also make sure you don't have any zones collapsed in your quest log. This combined with some other addon you have is probably causing the performance issue.

Update to the latest version, and it will attempt to give you a warning about what addon you're conflicting with. You're definitely conflicting with something.

edit: if Lightheaded can't do this, by chance do you know of a quest-giver-locater addon that can?
Oh.. no, LH won't help you find new questgivers (outside of using an /lh command to manually enter a quest ID from Wowhead). I tend to let the breadcrumb quests in-game do their work, not to mention the giant !'s on the minimap these days, and don't know of / use an addon for that.

Coordinates being off will not be fixed by an update. The If the comments don't change.. the data in LightHeaded will not change. If you're talking NPC coordinates that are provided by LightHeaded.. those come directly from TomTom. If they are wrong you are welcome to participate in their data gathering.

If you are doing quests where there are no comments, you should check that quest in wowhead. If there are comments there and they don't appear in LightHeaded you should report the EXACT quest id so I can review it.

No worries, it hasn't happened again and I doubt it will, and it didn't disrupt anything.

I got it twice, once with QuestGuru further up the call stack, and another time with QuestsFu in it. Both occurred simultaneously when clicking on that particular quest. The error was one-time and I can't reproduce it even with the same quest.

This doesn't seem to be a common issue and is probably the result of some indeterminate combination of things. I'm reporting it because pompachomp below also saw it, so I'm corroborating it in case you want to add a nil check in there.
