eXtreme Unit Buttons  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: v2.0
by: tayedaen [More]

This highly configurable mod allows players to associate buttons to unit frames. It is meant as a replacement to GroupButtons which stopped functioning with the 2.0 patch in December 2006. The mod extends the capabilities of GroupButtons by providing these additional features:

  1. an unlimited number of buttons per unit frame
  2. Buttons which turn on/off depending on the amount of damage a unit has
  3. Buttons which are dimmed if a unit as that buff or a related buff applied.
  4. Buttons which appear when a debuff is applied to a unit.
  5. Buttons which allow you to have any type of "/" slash or macro command on a button
  6. A variety of a modes for different activities in the game. For example, a set of buttons
  7. for soloing, buttons for instances, buttons for raids, buttons for specific bosses (such as Baron Geddon in MC (to all priests to debuff), buttons for PvP, etc.
  8. Assign buttons to unit frames that when clicked cast spells on different units. This feature allows, for example, buffs and heals for the player unit to appear within the target buttons to minimize the amount of mouse movement between buttons.
  9. Works for any kind of non-casting classes; specifically warriors and rogues.

Version 2.0 (Dec 06, 2010) (by tayedaen)

I know that the documentation is a complete mess at the moment, I am already working on it.
But I wanted to have a released version for cataclysm start.

Before upgrading, please read the included 'readme.txt'.

You will loose your config, so read carefully !

Hightlights of the changes since the last official release:

Code:
New: Support for default profiles for spec1 and spec 2
New: Wizards for Group and Profile generation
 Please use them !
New: LDB button (and menu)
New: Default Buttons now always use the Prefix 'SB_'
This is an abbreviation for StandardButton.
I recommend to use 'CB_' as prefix for custom buttons.
New: '$' self condition for cast buttons (buff, debuff etc.)
 Example: CB_Renew,buff,Renew,$Renew
This custom buutton will only chnge to the state BUFFED if the destination unit is buffed with your OWN Renew.
New: '!' inverts conditions for cast buttons (buff, debuff etc.)
New: new debuff condition "Death"
A button with this condition is only shown if the destination unit is dead.
New: new debuff condition "Purge"
A button with this condition is only shown if the destination unit has at least one buff to purge.
New: two keywords for exclude-units:
  'hostile' and 'friendly'
  Example: MyGroupName,SB_Renew,*,hostile
This button will be hidden on hostile units (= it will only be shown on friendly units)
New: Spell ranks have been removed (multiranking too)
New: Macro buttons support now '[target=unit#]'
Here unit# will be rpalced at runtime with the unit the button is attached to.
 Example: /target [target=unit#]
Improved: Verification of buttons while configuring the addon

And last but not least:
!!! Improved: Internals are mostly rewritten from scratch for better performance !!!

Please refer to 'z_historic_Changelog.txt' for older changes.
Known problems:
XPerl's partypets get no buttons

Known blizzard bugs:
------------------------
'isUsableSpell' is broken, there is nothing I can do to change that.
That means: Some spells are reported 'not usable' if you target a hostile target or NPC (like 'PowerWord: Shield' for example).

Enjoy - Tayedaen

Since Patch 2.3 went live, I don't have any buttons on my target frame. Player frame does, but target frame does not. Is anyone else having this same problem?

It lists blizzard as the unit frames. I tried switching it to another and then back... no change.

Not your fault, the beta copies show up at the top of the page - I need to wipe them.

Update

Okay... an update.

The Blizzard unit frame is working fine again... but XUB won't display any buttons at all. In fact, it seems to not be running, except that it says it is at login and says my profile is active.

Any idea what else could be corrupted? Trying to recall what happened, I was in my first raid since installing 1.8 yesterday before all these problems started (About an hour before). Could the initial activation of CT Raid Assist have anything to do with the errors I'm seeing?

Did you download the latest version after I posted, or are you still using RC5 ?

EDIT: Also, does a "xub /p" make the buttons show up again?
Just to be absolutely sure, I wiped everything XuB related from all folders and re-downloaded. The version now reads 1.8, so either I was confused or there was something old hanging around when I installed the new version. In any case, I'll see if I can duplicate the problem or not.

Thx

According to the in-game version (at login) I'm using RC5... even though it is the one I downloaded using the download button.

Correct, though the problem has never showed up in a raid. It originally started in a group in the Outlands, then started working a few minutes later, then it stopped working completely. Since that time, it didn't work at all. Even closing and re-opening WoW didn't make it work, so I assume the settings got corrupted somehow. I haven't played since I cleared out the settings.

Does this only occur with a druid? or are other classes effected too?
I only tried with my druid last night.

When you say Target frame are you talking about the unit frame itself or the XUB buttons that go along with it?
The entire unit frame and portrait for the target went away, as did all XUB buttons attached. The only part of the unit frame that showed was the combo point dots while I was in cat form.

Did you use use another unit frame before and not completly uninstall (grasping for straws)?
Nope, I've never used any other unit frames.

I did try deleting all the saved variables for XUB and re-creating my button set, it didn't seem to help at all. Something got really corrupted.

I can tell you exactly when the problem occurred... I was in a group in the ramparts. One of our group members lost his connection and all XUB buttons died. When he came back, they stayed dead. A few minutes later he lost connection again and they came back. Then they died a few minutes after that, never to be seen again.

I didn't have the LUA errors on at the moment, so I don't know if there were any.

Anything else I can tell you to help, pls let me know. I love the addon and miss my buttons

PLease clarify that you are using the default Blizzard frames when you are solo and in a group and CT RAID when in a Raid?

My first guess would be the frame names changing - This happens with Pitbull support - They reuse frames to conserve memory and make attaching to frames hard. I will go back to blizzard frames for a while and see if I can duplicate it.

Does this only occur with a druid? or are other classes effected too?

- XUB 1.8 RC 5 (The most recent one above)
- CT Raid Assist (But the problem isn't happening in raids)

Problem:

Sometimes, especially while in a group, all the buttons will disappear and not come bakc unless I log in again (using /console reloadui doesn't even help)

Using wrong version. Use the one you get via the main "DOWNLOAD button.

EDIT: If you want , you can also use the "eXtremeUnitButtons v1 8 with new options added.zip" version, which comes from v1.8 GA, but has extra configuration options. Either one will do. If you like to play it safe, use the 'DOWNLOAD' button one.

Recently Blizzard made a change where units who werer very far away no longer report out of range - but instead unuseable. These use the INVALID value for which you just added a slider.

I havent had time to check out either change (on the train to New York City ATM) - but will try over the weekend.

We could look at making options tabbed or seperate windows.

Glad I got it right then.

BTW, is the "Party/Raid Change Delay" slider still needed? I remember that in the recent past the code was changed internally to remove the delay, or at least it was talked about?

As far as the tabs go, i the Options screen gets any busier we'll have to look at multiple options screens. I'm using "WoW UI Designer", which doesn't seem to allow for tabbed controls, but if I had to, I can code the UI manually to add them, like how BeneCast did.

Anyway, next step is for you to take a look at what I did and let me know if its to your satisfaction and/or any changes UI wise is needed.
