I am no longer developing or maintaining World of Warcraft addons. I haven't played in years, and don't have the time or interest to continue working on addons for a game I don't play anymore. If you are an addon author interested in continuing one of my addons, please see https://phanx.net/addons/. If you are an addon user, sorry, but there won't be any more fixes or updates from me. |
(*) As of Patch 5.4 using Up/Down to access previously entered chat lines without the Alt key is limited to non-secure commands only. If you need to access previously entered secure commands (like /cast or /use) you will still need to hold the Alt key.Options & Commands
(**) If a channel is sticky, then after talking in that channel, the chat input box will open to the same chat type again, rather than making you type /g or /ra again.
Some additional options, such as customizing which channels are made sticky and what abbreviations are used for channel names, are available by editing the Core.lua file in a plain-text editor such as Notepad. If you break something, download a fresh copy and try again.Language Support

My addon is not the problem. It doesn't do anything with player name click behavior, nor does it do anything with entered text unless it starts with "/tt" or "/tellt". I've encountered names like this that apparently can't be ignored, invited, /who queried, etc. using other chat mods and using no chat mods. These names always seem to belong to people who are trolling, spamming, or otherwise being obnoxious, but the GMs I've talked to have refused to give me any explanation as to why these names always return "player not found". So I don't know what it is about these names, but it isn't caused by my addon.

Possible "bug"
Last night I encountered an unusual problem. There was an offensive troll in one of the channels, and I tried to ignore him, but I got the result "Player not found." Both right-clicking the name and selecting ignore and typing /ignore and then shift-clicking the guy's name resulted in the same "player not found" error. This guy's name was unusual in that it had a special character in it, an n with the ~ symbol over it. I don't know that Phanx is necessarily the problem, I also use Spam Guard Plus which could also easily be between me and the /ignore attempt. I'm wondering if any other Phanx users have encountered this sort of problem.

You can have any window not rejoin channels. Just change "ChatFrame1" to the name of whichever window you don't want the channels in. Combat log is ChatFrame2, and anything else you create goes from 3 on up to 7. If you don't have them docked, an easy way to tell which window is which is to do: Code:
/script for i=3,NUM_CHAT_WINDOWS do f="ChatFrame"..i; f:AddMessage("I am ChatFrame"..i.."!") end As for the edit box, I have no plans to add in code to anchor it to custom chat windows. If you'd like to anchor yours to another window, run the script provided above to get the ID of the frame you want it attached to, and then open PhanxChat.lua and find Code:
function PhanxChat:SetEditOptions() |

Is there any way to write in an option to move the edit box to a different window or customize placement? And would that work?
Meaning, that we can make a new window move the edit box there and not have that particular window auto-rejoin channels..... |

N1NJA:
That's the "reappearing channels" bug mentioned in the addon description and in my previous comments. It is a Blizzard bug; any channels which were hidden in the first chat frame will reappear there after you log out and back in (sometimes it takes two logout/login). Use the workaround mentioned in the addon description, substituting "LookingForGroup" for the "General" channel name used in the example. If you like, after you've read the description, you can follow the directions posted by RedFiery a few comments down for a more "invisible" fix. |

Love the addon, but how can I stop from entering the lookingforgroup channel? It's really annoying to type /leave 4 every time i log in with one of my characters.

No, that's fine. I had it in there, but it only seemed to work if I logged in a major city. If I didn't, it would seem fine when I logged in, but all my channels would reappear when I entered one. So, I figured it'd be easier just to tell people to use a macro, so they can re-run it whenever they need to.
If it works consistently for you, you can feel free to put it in there. |

Yeah, I'm not 100% sure how exactly this bug works, because sometimes the remove-channel code works, and other times it doesn't. Edited the description to just say put it in a macro, that way you can run it whenever you need to... really annoying, and hopefully Blizzard fixes it soon.
