I am no longer developing or maintaining World of Warcraft addons. I haven't played in years, and don't have the time or interest to continue working on addons for a game I don't play anymore. If you are an addon author interested in continuing one of my addons, please see https://phanx.net/addons/. If you are an addon user, sorry, but there won't be any more fixes or updates from me. |
(*) As of Patch 5.4 using Up/Down to access previously entered chat lines without the Alt key is limited to non-secure commands only. If you need to access previously entered secure commands (like /cast or /use) you will still need to hold the Alt key.Options & Commands
(**) If a channel is sticky, then after talking in that channel, the chat input box will open to the same chat type again, rather than making you type /g or /ra again.
Some additional options, such as customizing which channels are made sticky and what abbreviations are used for channel names, are available by editing the Core.lua file in a plain-text editor such as Notepad. If you break something, download a fresh copy and try again.Language Support

Why doesn't Phanx Chat save players as far as colouring their names go? Everytime I want my guildies names to be colored with their appropriate class I have to go to guild tab and check show all off-line members, then scroll through it all.
This is the same for anyone not just guild members. Other than that annoyance it is a great mod. |

First, double-check that it's enabled - use "/pc sticky" to toggle it off/on. If it still isn't working, try disabling any other chat-related addons. Officer chat sticky works for me, so either it's turned off or something is conflicting. Jackalantern: By design it does not save players between sessions. IMO it's a waste of memory to save them. However, I'm not sure why you're having to go to your guild tab and view offline members and scroll through it all to get your guild members' names colored; the only times I've ever had to even open the guild tab (and that's all you should have to do - just open it) was when someone new joined the guild, to color their name. What other names is it not coloring? It can't color all the names in general chat -- it isn't magic, and can't know what class someone is until you actually see the person (mouseover them, target them, /who them, etc.). |

Well Phanx I do not think it is a waste for it to save across sessions at all. Mainly because colouring of player names give this mod and many others similar to it a real aesthetic value, not to mention it makes the chat box a lot easier to read, for me anyways.
The fact that it does not save in between sessions is nothing more than a minor annoyance at best yes but it does get old after awhile having to check off-line members and scroll through. And about the off-line members and scrolling through part. I mention that because anytime a new guildie comes on-line their name won't be coloured because simply clicking the guild tab wont work, you have to check "show off-line" members and see them that way. So if I want all of the guild members names coloured throughout my entire session (which is up to 4-5 hours at a time sometimes) I'd rather just scroll through all the off-line members as well when I first log in and get it all done at once. Also I notice that shift-clicking a person in general chat so it shows that players info displayed in the chat box that will not make their names colour, you have to open the actual /who window and do it that way, I believe this is a bug? Because the "ChatBox" mod does not require you to open the /who window, shift clicking their name and the info showing up in the chat window is fine. All in all it is a great mod and I've been using it for awhile but the not saving character names across sessions has always annoyed me to some extent. If you could add the support so that it will I would love you for it more than I already do for this great chat box mod |

Having a little issue with chat lines.
I keep getting a counter number after each line is displayed. Have I missed something on these forums that I should know about? It's quite annoying. Everything else, though, works wonderfully. Great addon. |
