I am no longer developing or maintaining World of Warcraft addons. I haven't played in years, and don't have the time or interest to continue working on addons for a game I don't play anymore. If you are an addon author interested in continuing one of my addons, please see https://phanx.net/addons/. If you are an addon user, sorry, but there won't be any more fixes or updates from me. |
(*) As of Patch 5.4 using Up/Down to access previously entered chat lines without the Alt key is limited to non-secure commands only. If you need to access previously entered secure commands (like /cast or /use) you will still need to hold the Alt key.Options & Commands
(**) If a channel is sticky, then after talking in that channel, the chat input box will open to the same chat type again, rather than making you type /g or /ra again.
Some additional options, such as customizing which channels are made sticky and what abbreviations are used for channel names, are available by editing the Core.lua file in a plain-text editor such as Notepad. If you break something, download a fresh copy and try again.Language Support

Yes; PhanxChat simply changes the resizing functionality back to what it was before Patch 3.2 when Blizzard decided to add a bunch of distracting shiny glowing textures, add annoying features like opening the chat entry box when clicking anywhere on the chat frame, and remove useful features like resizing the chat window in any direction. With or without PhanxChat, the chat window must be unlocked before you can move or resize it.

Right click the tab you want to re-size. Choose "Unlock Window" from the menu. The edges of the chat frame should darken a little. Grab an edge and re-size to your hearts content. The cursor doesn't change when you can grab-n-drag. Just don't forget to re-lock the window again.

This is a bug in Blizzard's taint reporting system, and has nothing to do with PhanxChat. If you disable PhanxChat, it will just blame some other addon. PhanxChat does not touch any part of the glyph frame, or use/hook any functions related to glyphs. If you search various forums, you will find dozens of threads about this issue, naming dozens of addons, and none with any real explanations or solutions.
Basically, Blizzard's code is ridiculously susceptible to taint, and ridiculously terrible at identifying the actual source of taint. Most likely, some addon is touching something that is touched by another addon that is also touching something that is touched by a third addon that is also touching something that PhanxChat is touching, so WoW thinks PhanxChat is responsible for everything that's touching anything. There's not really anything I can do about it, unfortunately. ___

I'm getting a conflict regarding PhanxChat when I go to remove/insert glyphs. Sometimes reopening the glyph page fixes it. I get the option to Ignore/Disable the addon. The popup doesn't appear until after clicking "Yes" to confirm removal or when clicking the glyph into the slot.

I don't use RealID (though it looks like Blizzard might be working on a more Steam-like system, since last time I logged into the Battle.net website it gave me an option to create a "BattleTag" alias) and Akkorian isn't playing currently, so I have no way to test the RealID features, but I'll see what I can do. Most likely Blizzard decided to add new return values in the middle of the list again.

Real ID issues
I can confirm that the error still occurs with shift clicking a real-id friend.
But my main issue has been the shortening real id names feature. I spent a several hours trying to resolve the issue to no avail. All the other functions appear to work, but the shortening of real id names. I have tested it without any other mods, deleted the wtf and interface folder, and still had no luck. Code:
bnName = PhanxChat.bnShortNames[bnID] or bnName Any help regarding this matter would be greatly appreciated. -Fawa |

I am receiving an error when shift-clicking a realID name. I edited two lines to promote anonymity, they are replaced in caps with a description of what was there.
This is occurring with version 4.2.2.136 on live WoW.

Hi, Phanx ty for the great mod
If you don't mind I'd like to reply to this:
Code:
hooksecurefunc("ChatEdit_OnShow", function(self) local edtbx = self:GetName() _G[edtbx.."Left"]:Hide() _G[edtbx.."Right"]:Hide() _G[edtbx.."Mid"]:Hide() _G[edtbx.."FocusLeft"]:SetTexture(nil) _G[edtbx.."FocusRight"]:SetTexture(nil) _G[edtbx.."FocusMid"]:SetTexture(nil) end) If you want to play around with the textures you can find a ChatFrameEditBoxTemplate in the file FrameXML\ChatFrame.xml (you can google it) |

Sticky Tooltips?
I'm running into an issue where the tooltip of any chat tab remains stuck on the screen until I hover over another item that has a tooltip. An annoying issue when paired with a tooltip mod.
However, with a clean WTF and no addons, the tooltip doesn't stick by default but seems to stick when I load up PhanxChat. Can anyone else confirm? EDIT: typo

No problem. Could you point me in the right direction in the code? I'll try it.
