meh

Well, I was considering changing, but seeing as the developer can't seem to make up his/her mind, I will wait.

Feel free to PM me when you have your sh!t together.

Translation: A name change this late in your development was a very dumb move.

The reason for the name change was the confusion between BossMods and BossPanel Plugins.

e.g. CTRA_BossMods can be referred to as just BossMods, and that can be very confusing, as someone might take it to be a BossPanel Plugin or something.
I don't buy that. CT's BossMods installs into the folder \"CT_RABossMods". It shows up in Addons as "CT_RABossMods". That "CT_RA" in front removes any doubt as to what is being referred to. As well, "boss" in CT's case is referring to something literal--raid bosses--whereas BossPanel is just a name. That's a similar argument to someone being confused between the "Fishing Buddy" and "Fishing Info" mods--it is just not the case.

So as I mentioned previously, I don't think it was a good move. Might have been a decent move before the mod was released, but not now. Nonetheless, hope it works out for you and that BossPanel/FuBar ends up being a superior, less buggy alternative to Titan 2.x.

Annoying

*sighs* I just yesterday changed to BossPanel from Titan Bar. I find this unnecessary (yes, I think your explanation does not warrant anything like this) extremely annoying. I guess It means I will continue the BossPanel as I have it at the moment till it breaks some patch and go back to Titan the. Bleh.

It is (was) a nice mod though, kudos.

I think the name is fine as FuBar as it's no more or less than strictly BossPanel though with all the marketing I have been doing for BossPanel it will be confusing for many to see me suddenly peddling FuBar! Maybe it could have been something like OmegaPanel or SuperPanel or something. :P

The name is definitely way cooler, but that doesn't seem like anywhere near a significant enough name conflict to warrant all the headache. But, hey, you're the boss. (hahaha! I'll be here all week.)

FYI: the change of name to FuBar clashes with the mod called FooBar by Slarg.

Yeah it's true. I was telling my friends about the benefits of BossPanel over TitanPanel and they thought I was talking about CTRA BossMods.

This was looking like an increasingly attractive alternative to the seriously buggy Titan 2.x. But I really don't think the name change was such a great idea, despite how "cool" the name is.

It will require mod authors to do more work to get their mods working with this (see Kudane's comments below).

Some BossPanel mods (that are no longer being updated) simply won't work with this, just due to the name change. Even if you include migration tools/data with the FuBar, there is the issue about mods being able to see this (see Kudan's comments below again).

It will require people to completely delete old folders ("BossPanel...") for BossPanel mods and install new ones. Which makes keeping track of what mods you have installed a lot more difficult than it needs to be.

It will cause an amount of confusion for new users; people who may have previously heard about BossPanel will wonder what the situation is (and so on). Which will prevent migration to this from Titan and slow the progression of new users trying this.

For something like this--a mod that other mod developers develop for--really should choose a name at the beginning and stick with it. Especially this far into its development. As it is trying to compete/outdo another similar mod base--Titan--I see this name change slowing development and/or adoption of FuBar/Boss. Hope it is not the case, but can see it happening.

Imagine the problems that would occur if Ace itself decided to change its name to something else. Yes, Ace is a library, FuBar/Boss is a mod. But the outcome of such a change would have similar negative consequences.

May (or may not) be too late to turn back now to the old name. Just hope that if the FuBar name is the final decision, that potential problems are minimized.

I have several Boss Panel plugins that say "dependancy missing" as I have removed the boss panel main folder.

I convertered one (fishing buddy) to FuBar, but it was mostly a test to see how long it would take.

Can you explain a bit more about how to get Boss Panel plugins to work with FuBar until all the addons are up to date?

Oh, and did you change the background to look like titan on purpose? or was that an accident?

PS. Love the name

Is there an easy fix so that I don't have to have a folder for every single FuBar plugin in my /Interface/AddOns/ directory? I'd rather have all of the plugins in the main /FuBar/ directory. I'd appreciate instructions on how to accomplish this, as it would reduce clutter in my /AddOns/ directory.

Thank you in advance for any services rendered.

Aggro...

Any chance of getting an aggro monitor? As a Warrior, I have to say that this is an AWESOME tool to have. I like Boss/Fubar hands down over Titan... but I miss the Titan (aggro). Good work, mate... this is not just a request... I am begging...
