Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.
The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on you minimap.
When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations marked on the particular map you are viewing there.
For more information, please visit us at http://www.gathereraddon.com/
INSTALLATION:
--------------
Extract the data to your "World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns" directory so that the "Gatherer" directory is a subdirectory of the "AddOns" directory.
USAGE:
--------------
Just use the game as normal.
When you gather things, they will appear on your minimap and your main map.
If you want to configure the addon, click the Gatherer configuration icon floating around your minimap frame or type /gather options.
Slash Commands
/gather minimap (on|off|toggle) - controls the minimap tracking functionality
/gather mainmap (on|off|toggle) - controls the world map tracking functionality
/gather dist <n> - sets the minimap tracking distance to this number of units. (in game yards)
/gather num <n> - sets the maximum number of items to display (default=20, up to 50)
/gather herbs (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show herb data on the minimap")
/gather ore (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show mining data on the minimap")
/gather treasure (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show treasure data on the minimap")
/gather options - show the configuration dialog

Add Wild pet Tracking?
Is there a way you could add Wild pet tracking to gatherer? That way each time we either click or fight a wild pet it would put a note marker on the map in the same way it does with the other tractable's.

No nodes on map
I don't know if anyone else is having this problem, but I can't see any nodes on my map. So I deleted the saved variables, the core and the DB. I redownloaded the most up to date core and DB then imported the DB. Nodes that I have picked/mined, recieved from guildies, and imported from the DB are still not showing up on my map.

Re: Wandering Isle is Not Supported
(I just mean so that it's at least somewhat obvious that these are purposely being ignored/not recorded) Thanks again for Gatherer! -T |

Wandering Isle is Not Supported
The Wandering Isle is not supported. This is true of the Worgen/Goblin starting zones as well.
There are a multitude of reasons for this. I will list a few here, but this list should not be considered exhaustive.
In short, I'm not sold on the benefit to supporting instanced starting zones since once you leave the zone, the data you collected is likely useless to you anyways and just taking up space. This cost/benefit analysis becomes even less attractive when you factor in the disproportionate amount of development/testing effort required. TL;DR - Instanced starting zones are not supported and support is not planned. (I am open to changing my mind if someone presents a good argument.)

Re: Not remembering herbs from Wandering Isle
I have a totally clean install of Gatherer - even blew away the savedvariables to be sure. Nothing is appearing in the collection log while trying to collect herbs on Wandering Isle... I'm guessing this is because there is nothing in the 'GatherZoneTokens.lua' for the zone? I'm not sure what the data in this file is (or rather, how these tables work), otherwise I'd try to fix it, myself -T |

Not remembering herbs from Wandering Isle
after taking the freakishly long time trying to find the profession trainer (Elder Oakpaw in Mandori Village south of Temple of Five Dawns) on the Wandering Isle, I set off on my journey to fill my node database with all the lovely nodes on the Island Turtle, both the mining and herbalism nodes.
To my dismay my journal seemed to be missing all the nodes I have gathered recently. okay, not quite dismay just... annoyance really, was figureing that most monks/pandas were not picking up their gathering professions on the isle and figured your database was probably sparse with data from the Island Turtle. Specifics (aka the part that isnt a story): 5.0.5 live, cataclysm as highest license on account (if it would matter) downloaded database from 2012-09-23 and using gatherer 4.0.4. fresh install of database, not fresh install of gatherer core. verified that the addon wasnt collecting data from the Wandering Isle nodes by visiting the node search area and searching for copper ore (which I have colelcted quite a bit of differing locations of) and finding no results for Wandreing Isle, but found that the database actually worked by seeing nodes from other zones present under copper ore. |

Freaky... Glitch?
A guildee downloaded the new Gatherer here. They have herb icons showing all over their main screen. I've used Gatherer for ages and never seen this before. Here is a link to a screen caption of their screen:
http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=mt11ko&s=6 We can't get rid of the herbs everywhere. Any suggestions? The guildee is running on a Mac system. Could this be causing a conflict? Or is there a setting somewhere that needs to be changed out? Would really appreciate some insight and a fix since they are an herbing machine. lol Thanks! |

Just a quick note...
... to say thank you for updating this for 5.0.4 / MoP. It's something I don't realize I am relying on till I don't have it, and it's awesome - especially the integration with other users of it via guildmates and stuff. That is *very* excellent!
Looking forward to the pre-loaded database getting updated also - I *definitely* noticed when that stopped! Thank you! |

Gatherer Localization Status
I am currently in the process of adding every String in Gatherer I can find into our localization system: http://localizer.norganna.org/
I know that this topic has been avoided for far too long since Gatherer 3.0.0 was release and I want to apologize to all of Gatherer's non-English users for the long delay in addressing this topic. Of course, without help from the user base, Gatherer cannot be translated. I ask that anyone who is willing to help translate Gatherer head on over to our localization system (http://localizer.norganna.org/) and assist where they can.
