Gatherer is an addon for herbalists, miners and treasure hunters in World of Warcraft. It's main purpose is to track the closest plants, deposits and treasure locations on your minimap.
The addon does not track like a tracking ability does, rather it "remembers" where you have found various items in the past. It does this whenever you gather (perform herbalism, mining or opening) on an item, and records the specific map location in its history. From then on, whenever the item comes into range of being one of the closest 1-25 (configurable) items to your present location, it will pop up on you minimap.
When you view your World Map, you will also see the item locations marked on the particular map you are viewing there.
For more information, please visit us at http://www.gathereraddon.com/
INSTALLATION:
--------------
Extract the data to your "World of Warcraft/Interface/AddOns" directory so that the "Gatherer" directory is a subdirectory of the "AddOns" directory.
USAGE:
--------------
Just use the game as normal.
When you gather things, they will appear on your minimap and your main map.
If you want to configure the addon, click the Gatherer configuration icon floating around your minimap frame or type /gather options.
Slash Commands
/gather minimap (on|off|toggle) - controls the minimap tracking functionality
/gather mainmap (on|off|toggle) - controls the world map tracking functionality
/gather dist <n> - sets the minimap tracking distance to this number of units. (in game yards)
/gather num <n> - sets the maximum number of items to display (default=20, up to 50)
/gather herbs (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show herb data on the minimap")
/gather ore (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show mining data on the minimap")
/gather treasure (on|off|toggle) - select whether to show treasure data on the minimap")
/gather options - show the configuration dialog

Re: Lost Gatherer Database
Elodarian,
Look for Gatherer.lua within ..\WorldofWarcraft\WTF\Account\<YourWoWAccountName>\SavedVariables . If you do not have that or whatever, you can always use the GathererDB from http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11707-GathererDBWoWHead.html . Happy Gatherering, Nikk

Lost Gatherer Database
My computer managed to eat a virus and I had to re-install WoW and WindowXP.
I also lost all my UI's so I need to recover the Gatherer DB. I have a backup that is pre-3.1, so I am hoping to find out what the file name is so I can recover the DB from my backups. What is the file name of the database? If I recover this file, can I simply overwrite the existing current blank DB? If not, how do import the older database? EDIT= If there is somebody on Bloodhoof Alliance that would like to share their DB please send me an in-game email to Elodarian (79 Warlock). Or please contact me at [email protected]

AddOns/UI guidance
Greetings All,
Since we have been asked- and to clear up any rumors that may be circulating... Auctioneer, Gatherer, and Enchantrix all follow the guidelines published by Blizzard at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/policy/ui.html , according to our understanding of the policy. We have never solicited donations in the actual game environment and have never, ever charged for our offerings. We do request donations on our primary site, http://AuctioneerAddOn.Com , via the link in the upper right corner, from those who find our AddOns to be helpful. Those donations primarily help to offset the costs associated with our development environment; a couple servers and their Internet connectivity. With a volunteer staff of about 30, usually 5-10 active at a time, spread in different parts of the world, such tools are indispensable to our ability to develop, test, and provide decent products. All that said, the donations usually come out about even, with our primary Administrator, Norganna, making up the difference out of his family's bank account on the months that donations do not meet the monthly expenses. There are some rare months where donations exceed the monthly expenses, but that overage is needed to repay the "loans" from previous months. Although some on the team would welcome the opportunity to make a living from development of such complex products, we currently release them under V2 of the GPL. With such a diverse group, there are those who help as a way to "give back" to the world to those who are looking to polish their resume with some real world experience. As a whole, we do not begrudge those who have decided to depart from producing AddOns, due to what ever reason(s), and support any company's right to protect its property. This current period is quite interesting as numerous laws are being enacted and tested in different courts to determine the future of software development, and only time will tell. Those who feel strongly, one way or another, should contact Blizzard and their elected officials, directly, and express their opinions. Demands, comments, or requests on websites only go so far, and most often not to those with the authority to make the desired changes. Luckily most of us live in areas where making such opinions known is not only possible, but encouraged. We look forward to providing products that enhance our users' experiences, and our own, for now, and into the future. Should there ever be any internal or external decisions that do affect our products, we will endeavor to keep everyone informed, to the greatest possible extent. In keeping with our usual spirit of openness, the new guidelines may affect the future of the AuctioneerDB program, which is in early beta status, but no decisions have been made, as of yet. We will post with more details, once they are available. Happy Adventuring, Nikk and the rest of the Norganna's AddOns family |

Kuzah,
We do not provide plug-ins for any of the various data/button display frameworks. By default, Gatherer displays either via the minimap button or as an icon on the SlideBar menu, simply because those are within our control and do not change as the tide of public opinion switches from one "bar" type to the next. Nothing against any of them, have personally used Fubar and now LDB, but it is just a bit easier for us internally, with limited time. That said, one of our users has recently created one for Titan, and Titan supports LDB functions- see http://wow.curse.com/downloads/wow-a...ngatherer.aspx . Happy Gatherering, Nikk

The HUD, Shapeshifting, and You
Quick question:
For druids, shapeshifting into flight form is the equivalent of mounting. Yet the Gatherer HUD does not recognize flight form as a mount, and so if "Hide HUD while not mounted" is selected, the HUD gets hidden when the druid shifts into flight form. Is there a way to fix this so that the HUD does *not* get hidden when the druid shifts into flight form but *does* hide itself when the druid is not mounted? Either by making flight form = a mount or by making a "Hide HUD while shapeshifted" kinda deal? |

While I love Gatherer, I have no use for the HUD. Fortunately, it is easily disabled.

Forty2j,
The issue with that is that it would likely require quite an effort, with limited returns. If you are on a system with over 1GB of RAM, which you really need to run WotLK, then running Gatherer, even with a relatively "large" database loaded, should not cause any noticeable impact. That said, we have discussed the issue before; will revisit and see if our main Gatherer developer has the time to begin such an undertaking. Happy Gatherering, Nikk
