Clean Icons - Mechagnome Edition  Popular! (More than 5000 hits)

Version: 10.2.6.53840-V4-1
by: AcidWeb [More]

This set of icons is the spiritual successor to Clean Icons - Thin by suicidalkatt

Due to size package is now hosted here: HERE

All icons were additionally upscaled using deep convolutional neural network magic. As a result, they are way bigger than original ones and provide better image quality when the higher display resolution is used or bigger icons are displayed.

This package is intended mainly for Retail version but both Classic and WotLK is supported.

Comparison vs default Blizzard icons

Installation:
Contents of the archive should be placed directly in World of Warcraft\_retail_\Interface.
A full restart of the game is required.

Compatibility:
This type of texture replacement is simple and effective, but other addons are unable to recognize that they are using unofficial icons. They might need fine-tuning to get everything to look correct.

  • Default Blizzard Bars - They add their own border to every icon. So using this pack only increase icon resolution. Currently, they do not provide the option to hide that border.
  • ElvUI - By default ElvUI trims the border from the icon texture. This process is controlled by tristate option: General -> Cosmetic -> Crop Icons.
  • WeakAuras - By default WA will display a border that is part of the icon texture. It can be hidden by increasing aura Zoom: Display -> Extra Options -> Zoom. Recommended value: 10-20%.
  • Other Bar Addons - In general, these types of addons should have options to disable their own extra borders and control how much border should be removed from the icon texture.

Known issues:
  • There are currently less than a hundred encrypted icons for event and store items. Due to technical reasons, they cannot be replaced.

not sure if it's something that is capable of being fixed, but figured I'd report it anyway.
Borders are a little smaller now. What you mean "break"?
Sorry for the slow reply, forgot to check up on this but basically, if the ingame icon size isn't large enough, certain edges will have no border whatsoever. This isn't an issue on previous versions of the icon pack.
Even if they are smaller they should be still visible. That rather mean that icon zoom is enabled or something else is set to remove borders from icons.

if you don't mind sharing the method to convert the icons, i'm going to keep updated Icon pack for < 1440p resolution
Previous version had the same issue. That part of UI just not declare size of textures that should be used and always display original one.

Making separate pack will not help as new method still use the same icon dimensions. Only compression method changed.

Texture replacements are not client related and I can tell that it is in fact working with the german client.

Make sure it is just the 4 Icons+Icons folder (like in your screenshot) including all the icon-textures without any subfolder in/between it.

If you put it in your retail/Interface folder it should work out of the box.

Eh. It is not first time when white spaces went out of sync. I will check it out.

EDIT:
OK. I see the issue. There are few textures that are doubled in the client. Same icons - one file with space, second one without it. I will push the fix soon.

There are a few filenames that have whitespace in them which show the original blizzard icon in-game until the whitespace is removed. I just duplicated them and used both the whitespace filename and one without and it fixed the issue.

Here's the list of ones I duplicated because they were showing incorrectly (and a few that were missing):

ability_rogue_shurikenstorm.blp
artifactability_guardiandruid_goryfur.blp
inv_azeriteareadenial.blp
inv_azeritedebuff.blp
inv_azeriteempoweredstate.blp
inv_azeriteexplosion.blp
inv_azeritefireball.blp
inv_bloodtrollfemalehead.blp
inv_bloodtrollmalehead.blp
inv_bloodofsargeras.blp
inv_firstaid_deepseasatin.blp
inv_glowingazeritegeode.blp
inv_glowingazeritespire.blp
inv_misc_celestialmap.blp
inv_tortollanhead.blp
Perhaps it is an out of date listfile?

Anyway, great pack nonetheless. Love the upscale.

Cheers!

Clean and good looking Icons.

I use them for a while now and I am really happy with the texture.
